What I like about Kengan over Baki is that when someone gets in a fight it effects fighter in later fights. That and to me different and unique looks both in design and body portions

Baki the grappler my ass, baki barely does any grappling, which by the way, is literally in his epithet. If i see an anime named Baki the *Grappler* , i’d be expecting a LOT of grappling.
With Baki, it's just brute strength vs brute strength. In the beginning yes, there's techniques, but it get dwarfed with the characters getting strong, and wanting to get stronger and stronger. Asura is all about the different styles, and all the connections that the characters have that spans multiple and many chapters
What's crazy about Kengan is that EVERY single fighter has a strong presence. Aside from Nezu, but people still remember him cause of his hat. Obviously, it's some less than others, but basically, every character could be someone's favorite, and you wouldn't question it, and a surprising amount of characters develop or get set up to develop later on in the series. This is such a key point to me as I literally cannot decide between like 6 characters on who my top-notch favorite is.
Exactly. Even Purgatory fighters (which people say were rushed and it was a weak arc) were very memorable (I love Carlos). Even Monkey-face was hilarious.

Kengan is the cool dude at school everyone wants to be around because he ticks so many boxes Baki is the oddball dude at school with unlimited charisma and does his own thing that everyone loves but has secretly has haters
I think of Baki and Kengan as being two entirely different things. Kengan has much more in common with a narrative driven shonen manga. Baki, while it does have a story, is more like an outlet for Itagaki's musings on sports and martial arts. It's much more unfocused and requires a little more patience.

But yeah that is facts I had a similar experience I was incredibly overweight like almost 300 pounds in my pre teens and started working out around 14-15 onwards and because I was always carrying that big ass weight my legs were strong as hell once I built up muscle.

having that much character development for characters in kenga doesnt really make sense with the span of the tournament being pretty short and what would most of these characters really develope? you see most of em pretty little so omma and the old man being the ones to have basically all the developement makes more sence then somoene agito or many other characters most of them are already quite an established character @@localdude2979

personally one of the things that i quite ike is the fact that they did the actual practitioners of proper combat sports well instead of making a joke of it like they do in baki and alot of the techniques they throw is quite accurate to the martial arts the fighters are supposed to represent and even those like oma throw good punches you would see from boxing and kicks youd see in kickboxing and mauy tai and even the unrealistic techniques explained by science usually makes way more sense than what they do in baki those techniques they try justify with science in baki are all extreme stretches kengan does what baki does but just better with the context of the world they are in
If Syn didn't already know this, both of the mangakas for baki and kengan are known for basing their characters off either real life people or their favorite characters from other series. Lolong donaire(from kengan omega) is not only partially named after one of the largest crocodiles ever recorded but a philipino boxer with the last name donair. Instances like this not only add extra lore and tidbits to the show for huge fans but it keeps the manga fresh and interesting for the mangaka inserting his own interests in like that.

Kengan’s concept is so interesting and I think the fights are presented better (Baki has too many cutaways and frames of someone’s fist turning into a blur of light) but Baki has that YYYYYAAAHAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!😤😤😤😤😤 type energy, I will not explain further
the absolute peak of modern anime, Baki and Kengan are so much better than most modern generic bs they throw nowdays, with the exception of Chainsaw man arguably cause I love that anime and manga too due to the actual story and plot which is kind of better, but Baki and Kengan have that unique art style and brutality no other shows have, the way the characters fight and the consequences actually feel real besides the fact that we got transformations like the Removal or the Demon back, Retsu loses his leg, Lu Tian develops heart disease, Baki and Ohma bones fracture, and theres no dragon balls yall, deaths are more impactful
