I love Kengan because the mangaka is a martial artist himself, so he pays very close attention to the forms and styles. Alot of the attacks you see in the show are real, and animated very well.
yep my personal favorite fighter from the show was Kaolon he was one of the fighters that did stand up combat sports right and even the less believable techniques are still mostly cool concepts of if a person was strong enough or fast enough they could do this unlike baki characters and techniques being virtually super powers and even thier rough scientific explanations doesnt make it mildly believable with alot of the stuff despite trying to

I wasn't into the art style of Kengan Ashura at first, so i skipped over it for a while. But after binge watching Baki back in 2020, I needed some more action and gave this a shot, and it was a helluva good decision! Amazing show!
It has been a while since I read Kenyan Ashura, but it nice to see it being mentioned. A few things I will (hopefully I am remembering them right) mention about certain characters: -The ballerina is a dude. They went with that tropes of a muscular androgynous man who is all about beauty thing. Spoilers below….. -As for the guy who is all about Ohma, long story short both him and Ohma came from a place in Japan called the “Inside” which is pretty much taking the worst places in the world and crunching all of it in the size of a metropolis. I am talking it is so bad that most nations just walled it up to keep it from spilling out instead of trying to clean it up. The guy was saved by Ohma (by accident) one day and he looks up to him like a god. I am talking the guy has done rather questionable things to survive and find out where Ohma is. - One of the reasons why the CEO is interested in getting Yamashita involved is due to a debt his family is owed. Yamashita’s ancestor was the Kengan fighter for the CEO’s family and instead of bowing out to survive as the boss wanted, Yamashita’s ancestor fought and died because he believed in what the boss wanted to do. Boss wanted to repay the debt to the family, but circumstances caused them to disappear. So the CEO’s family went about gaining power while searching and it wasn’t till the CEO found out about Yamashita and figured out the best way to help him and complete the family mission.
Baki is WWE, Kengen is UFC. They are both full of testosterone and fun to watch. Baki just ask for a higher suspension of disbelief and Kengan will try throw in real world top class scaled martial artist as a measuring stick so the unreal stuff is still kind of grounded. The grappling in kengan is something I show my BBJ gym mates and nothing has ever been cooler than seeing "JAB" as a finishing move since IRL its probably the technique that most martial artist practice 10,000 times.

The main difference between kengan ashura and Baki is that kengan ashura has WAY better fights. Because of the use of CGI characters, it allows them to animate very complex and dynamic fights. Though the cgi characters are jarringly different from the 2d background, it is absolutely worth it for that sweet, sweet fight choreography
