Ever the professor of the break Chris! Great video as always.
Now that the rules have changed, and the 9 ball goes on the spot, could you kindly show us how that works please. How do we get that one ball centre pocket like the Pros do?
Love this ..... great video Chris. I like to know where them balls are going..
Nice “Rack Master” 😊
That combo was awesome too…👍🏻💪🏻
Nice!
Going to try it
Nice video....love the shirt 🤟
Could you make a video showing strategy diffrence in APA 9 ball vs professional 9 ball?
I've played my first 9 ball APA and the strategies are definitely diffrent.
pretty cool. Corey Dual will be watching this saying ,,why didnt I think of that?? lol
i like the fact that do not edit video due to not perfect position since that is often a reality at any game. thanks good video
Thank you for sharing a pattern that helps running out in 9 ball. I am gonna try it out when I practice only though. I personally think that in any match, players should rack the balls randomly, without a pattern.
With this breaking technique, any pattern is runnable because the spreads would be similar. The only real difference are the transitions used for different patterns.
This pattern, IMO, is just the easiest.
@@LilChrisPoolPlayer Your breaks are very clean and the spreads are consistent. I am still learning to execute a good break, I usually get many collisions and poor control of the cue ball. You pattern is definitely the easiest.
Most leagues prohibit pattern racking, although I will do it against a better player, if the rt rack the balls create long shape shots
Hey Chris, love your videos bro. I play at a high level but I still glean valuable info from your content. Thanks for great quality content sir! Question:
10:45 - from the 5 to the 6 did you think about using top right with a bit of a stun stroke to bring the cue ball into your intended position spot? I love that shot and I use it quite often
I received suggestions that I should've tried stunning the cue ball between the 8 & the 9, which is probably what I should've done at the time.
Nice shooting there!
I can't wait
Excellent
Hey Chris,
How about the best pattern for 10 ball? I have a good 10 ball break and have a pattern I use to judge how I'm breaking and where the balls are going in relation to my particular break technique. What do you think about the optimal 10 Ball pattern for racking the balls?
Thx!
Ronnie
The 10-Ball break is something I've been working on the side. I don't quite have it figured out yet, but when I do, I'll be happy to share.
Not a lot of tournaments or leagues that have rules against pattern racking bother to enforce the rule against it.
Brilliant
Damn! Reminds me of the mad genius of racking, Corey Deuel.
Except I'm not soft breaking! 😉
At 10:47 : I was thinking that you could actually add slight bottom (which would die/lag and become slight top left by the time it reached the 5) with approximately 2 tips of inside (left) to hit 3 rails (weaving through the 7, 8, 9 and 6 gap) and and end up running the line of the 6 (allowing more room for error on cue ball weight*)to the bottom right (on screen) pocket.
I did think about trying to get in between the 8 & 9. I just didn't like the transition I would've needed to get to the 7, but overall it still is the correct shot that I should've taken.
@@LilChrisPoolPlayer Still a GREAT combo at the end for the win!
Thanks @lilchris
yayyyy!!!
That’s Terminator break you study it well boy
Love your content and I was using a different pattern rack I may start to implement this when I play tournaments that are rack your own! I do have to ask since you have switched to a carbon fiber playing cue why have you not switched to a carbon fiber break cue and jump cue?
I'd advise against using this rack pattern in a rack your own format. I know it wouldn't be against the rules, but you really shouldn't use an advantage that your opponent may not be aware of, unless you're willing to inform your opponent of the ease this rack pattern can give.
Ideally, any rack pattern with this same spread would be relatively easy to run out.
I have a carbon fiber break cue (BK Rush). It's paired with my Predator Blak4-5 playing cue. What you see in my videos are my Predator Tuxedo and BK3 that I use for my CZcams videos.
@@LilChrisPoolPlayer I pattern rack in those touraments if it isn't agaist the rules I do not see the issues with it? It's just one more tool to have in your arsanal just like knowing a pletora of different shots. I have had someone complain about it but I only broke and ran 2 with my pattern rack. The tourament director informed him it was not agaist the rules and he was able to pattern rack them as well.
Why do you not like to use your BK rush in the videos?
@@johntanner611 I've used my BK Rush in a couple of videos. It was after I got the Tuxedo cue that I decided to keep my playing cues in my case for when I go out and just use the Tuxedo and BK3 for my CZcams videos.
@@LilChrisPoolPlayer Ohh that is cool well I thoroughly enjoy your content keep up the wonderful work! Will you be switching to a carbon jump cue?
@@johntanner611 Currently I'm satisfied with my Predator Air 2, but only time will tell what I may change/upgrade too 😉
I notice you don't use a jump cue, and don't hit too hard, but get a good break. Great video, and very helpful Chris, thanks buddy.
I do use a jump cue, when a jump shot is called for.
@@LilChrisPoolPlayerI think he meant break cue.
cool video. Can you show us the hardest rack pattern next?
I show one hard rack pattern at the end of this video:
czcams.com/video/EVpGstzq78c/video.html
In this video, I break down what it takes to produce that consistent spread.
I forget where but I saw a tournament where the rules had a few balls that were racked the same every time. To create a harder rack to run. I forget how it was set up though.
A "harder" pattern to run would basically be something that requires a lot of cue ball movement for each transition, basically going from one end of the table to the other. I demonstrated something like this in my last 9-ball breaking video that I reference in this video ( czcams.com/video/EVpGstzq78c/video.html ).
I have an odd question. Why is your 7-ball light blue instead of classic maroon? I've been away from playing pool for quite some time, so I'm curious. Great video by the way!
The set of balls I have is the Cyclops Zeus set.
Thanks, I will have to check out their website
@@HawkOnHOG This set no longer exists except being oversold on random websites. The Dynaspheres replaced them.
At 10:47, wouldn't Top-Right spin have caused the cue ball to go into the short rail and then kill the angle, giving the position you wanted?
I did think about trying to get in between the 8 & 9. I just didn't like the transition I would've needed to get to the 7, but overall it still is the correct shot that I should've taken.
This is what I thought too. Cue ball would come right back up on that side of the table and you'd shoot the 6 in pocket #3.
@@LilChrisPoolPlayer Nonetheless, the 6-9 combination was a nice ending :D By the way, I tried using your advice in this video and the 4 literally goes in every single time. I'm trying to get the good speed down still, but it's working well anyways! Thanks!
Is it legal to set up the rack as you have described during tournament play? Do the pros actually do this?
There's nothing in the rules that prohibits a particular pattern. Some tournaments do have rule against using the same pattern over and over again. I don't expect pros to do this as they typically have a neutral racker.
Left spin at 10:12? Shouldn't that be a heavy, low, drag shot? Maybe even some right?
Rack without the magic rack and show how it happens that way every time
At 9:49, you jump up out of your shot like MJ dunking over Ewing...
Have you tried this on a bar table?
Yes, it works just the same
Do you like this pattern for soft breaking?
I'm not a fan of "Corey Deuel" style soft breaking, which this pattern would not be ideal for because you would have to run to the 5 or 6 (depending on what side you break from) before possible having a combo on the 9-ball.
Having the 2 and 3-ball behind the 1-ball is the ideal setup to do that kind of soft breaking.
Except youre the only person I know playing on an 8’ table! I’d have way more collisions on my 7’ table 😂
I'm able to produce very similar results on 7' and 9' tables. You just have to find the right speed and contact on the 1-ball. 😉
10:43 too much angle for that idea. If you don’t wanna go forward 2 rails with inside which is the right shot, at least stun with outside 1 rail to go through traffic. But trying to hold it with that much angle was a little crazy tbh.
Wouldn’t this be considered pattern racking which isn’t legal in most matches???
Pattern racking is mainly defined as racking the same every time. Otherwise, what pattern is "supposed" to be legal.
the five ball shot should have been rail first bottom left
Oooh! That's the shot "The Terminator" recently demonstrated on his channel! I didn't even think of that shot! Nice call! 💪
7:59, first diamond on the 9 ball. Yikes...
Wait a minute, this video shows how to run out on this easy 9 ball rack and you got super lucky on both racks and even more fortunate to combo the 9 in on the second rack? huh??...
Pattern racks and templates… If they ever brought back wooden racks and the sluggo, you guys would pull your hair out.. lol..
This is good for practice. But rack like this in a tournament and get your arms broke. Pattern racking is not legal in most tournaments.
Repeatedly pattern racking is not legal in most tournaments. I believe there are 5040 different types of rack patterns you can make with a 9-ball rack, leaving the 1-ball as the head ball and the 9-ball in the middle.
Of those patterns, where do you find in the rules which ones are supposed to be "legal" and which ones are not?
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. It's just that there is no rule that would prevent the use of this pattern every once in a while.
@@LilChrisPoolPlayer I agree
You do show us your English, which is much appreciated. And you also tell us your aim point on the break. But you’re not showing us the aim point in the break, at least not in this video. Is that something you cover in a different video?
What is the difference referring to "aim point ON the break" vs "aim point IN the break"?
@@LilChrisPoolPlayer - sorry, I thought I was more clear. I meant that you show us your aim point on the cue ball, how much English, back, or top spin you’re applying, etc…. But what is less clear to me is exactly where you are aiming at on the object ball. Are you aiming for a half-ball cut, a three-quarter cut, the pocket right between two balls so that (ideally) you hit them both simultaneously, etc….
Lmao isn’t pattern racking against the rules for 9 ball anyway?
I believe using the same rack pattern over and over is against standard tournament rules.
No one rack pattern is considered the "legal" rack pattern.
So doing it the way you said is against the rules?
If I were to continue to use this pattern over and over, yes. If I rotate the pattern and then come back to this one, I would be in compliance with the rules.
I don't think Chris ever said this was something that was meant to use strictly and tournaments but it would certainly help your weekly league night in any league if you're an above average player. At least he didn't try to sugar coat it and have 12 takes to appear that it works for everyone every time. I appreciate the candid honesty of his posts. They are very helpful and informative
