In 1.12 another youtuber said MS has been nerfed slightly in regards to attack speed, i also thought it was normalised to 3.5s for a MS attack and ignoring the actual weapons attack speed. Is there truth in this? If so, does the choice of reward matter if you dont have a skill increase in that weapon?

@@jaskillz1 to bad this originally was to be for the shaman class quest the npc for quest is shaman u kill a bunch of elementals and then gives a wind themed weapon makes more sense for shaman when u get wind flurry at lv 30 also wind totem it was really for enhancement

@@jaskillz1 I actually like how "hard" the shaman quests are, they're really just a lot of running, but I think it adds a unique player experience for each class, doing the shaman quest was the first time I ever went up to that ridge overlooking the starting area for the orcs/trolls and I thought it was pretty cool
if you fail and he de-spawns just abandon the quest (whirlwind heart) and talk to him again, you don't need to collect the items twice
Amazing how much depth and exploration players have to go through just for one weapon in Classic - all of the stuff behind getting this weapon is a huge reason why players want to return to the old days because it brings significance and meaning behind the time you're investing in your goals - just like this one.
Not to mention it's a pretty kick-ass weapon that will hold you down for quite some time.

Great addition for the channel and community with detailed steps. Warriors need all the love they can get early on.
I have another addition that I did not see anyone cover yet. Maybe it has been done long ago by someone, but since we are talking about Vanilla and especially Classic, being a great journey and all. We should cover that "Cortello's Riddle" quest chain. Where you get a unique 14 slot bag at the end. You know that quest which starts, if mempry serves, in STV near Booty Bay at thouse 3 ships. A chest spawns in a random location inside them. You get a letter, go to Swamp of Sorrows, under a small bridge and ends in Hinterlands. Eastern shore under the waterfall.

This guide really helped. I bought everything from AH except the blood scalp tusk. It took a lot of work at level 30 to get the blood scalp tusk from the trolls and was the hardest thing about this chain quest. But once I got done with that I had a lvl 60 lock help me kill Cyclonian and that was easy. This literally made my day. To wield such a powerful weapon in my hands at that level was incredible and is just another reason why I love classic.
I loved this quest. It was a quest in every sense of the term. It didnt matter what was asked of me the first (and only) time i did quest. It feel good to complete

Also the axe with the slow speed is much better because at 40 you will get mortal strike (most likely) which deals "weapon damage"

I remember to defeat cyclonian i had to teamed up with warrior from the opposite faction at 38 and a healer, we both helped each other just to kill cyclonian 2 times, we wiped alot at first though
And if u plan to sell the weapon the mace is the most expensive weapon to npc

I feel like classic Warriors all had the same goal getting corrupted ashbringer so I'd imagine it'd be pretty easy to find people to help you with this Quest while they're doing the same Quest.

I can confirm that demo shout does in fact fear the mobs in the gauntlet on all mobs but Big Will. Super handy info.

Just got my whirlwind axe at lvl31 today thanks to this guide..!
I went with the sword and sword spec while lvling in vanilla and kicked every warrior's ass I came across. Then I dueled a mage and realized many things =P
14 years ago I took the mace, because I was a Tauren and I felt it matched them thematically more :) It's also nice looking, this deep black rock on stick is sexy. Sub-optimal, but pleasing.

I picked mace and with mace specialization won gank vs some nasty caster, he didn't expect stun from my whirlwind at all! :D

What’s a good enchant to go with the whirlwind axe? Opinions?
appreciate the guide !! demoralizing shout works on fearing the enemy on the 1st part of the quest. For me it was way easier to do the quest in defensive stance !! if warrior is Your alt, make sure You farm the eles in AH with Your main, shouldn't take too long. The elite itself hits hard, I would recommend to bring at least 1 lvl 60 with You then You should be fine. The weapon is worth the effort !!

Btw the quest gives a lot of XP, A LOT ! Especialy the bloodscalp tusks one, you can grind those troll without getting bored, and its really fast you dont even see the time past.

Some guy in my guild gifted me 'Burning War Axe' which is a blue 2h axe. The upgrade was fucking mental. I went from using a green that had like 60 max to something that's 110 max. Felt so nice. I can't wait to get the whirlwind axe though. Working hard on my warri quests.
i was able to use demo shout. it worked
I like to use slam as arms so I go for the axe so I can weave 2 slams between auto's when there's enough rage.

I leveled 10 warriors to 60 and here is some insight I found. If you are having a hard time leveling or killing stuff, say it's your first warrior this quest line might be worth the time and effort and it's just a fun quest line. However if you know what your doing don't waste your time. Warriors if played right are near top dps even at 30 without this weapon. My recommendation if trying to get to 60 as soon as possible absolutely do not waste your time with this quest especially on a new server. In new servers the mats are high and you will need to waste time farming. Now here is what I would do. Obviously do what you want, but I recommend getting to 60 without this quest then at 60 go back and do it for fun. Good luck
Glad to see this comment. Always feel it's either a heavy time/gold commitment on a fresh server. If you want to get an alternate set of weapons aim for Corpsemaker or Thermaplugg's Left Arm. Spend small gold at AH to make up for WW axe quest, aim for neck/rings. Upgrade to Mograine's Might at 38.
@@bamnasitis775 It's not really that big of a deal: mats was like max 5g on my server 2 weeks into launch. Just had to farm tusks.

Not potentially, but yes I used it and they all ran. A chance to bandage as long as possible. I got this part done at 31. Now I'm working on the last part need the elemental essence but don't know how I will get it done at the moment, currently at lvl 34. Still trying to kill some lvl 37 Raptors for a quest in Hammerfall.

Oh god RAVAGER I miss that thing. I think I'll shoot to get my friends to help with WW axe at 30 then either hit SM armory at 37 or uldaman at 38. Axe spec best spec.

That is great true. The later you get it, the less value it provides. The axe will stay with you until you can get Lord Alexanders Battle Axe which requires lvl 51 if I am not mistaken.
I have 4 alt warriors. I used my mage to farm the charms. That's 32 of each. It took me 2 hours. Good drop rates. About 5-7 per clear of a shrine.
You can do it with 4 level 31s, bring nature resist potions all his damage is nature. Two each works well. One needs to be a healer. We almost did it with only 3 of us. Got him to 20%
Just realize you had the nature potions in as a keep watching lmfao

There's definitely something to that statement. The more attacks you make, the more potential crits per unit time. That's true, but if you are HS kiting, you want a slow a weapon as possible!
Ah, true. No hamstring kiting for me; I have a very small penis. For this reason I like to take as many big, manly hits as possible when I play warrior.

this is wrong, the sword is actually the best choice, its not good to have slow weapons before you get mortal strike, a slow weapon is only good with instant attacks, also if you plan on going spec sword like most warior you might as well build it from the get go and spec sword as you level rather than having to respec later. 90% of warrior take the axe and its so retarded, i leveled to 60 something oike 6 or 7 warriors and always take the sword
I respectfully disagree. Having a slow weapon makes flurry so much more powerful due to the percent difference in swing time. That 20% is much more meaningful with a slower weapon. Since most warriors level fury until 40 then switch for MS, the axe is much more impactful. Also HS and BT don't scale with weapon speed, MS is the only one that does
Also, if you are not HS-kiting you are taking unnecessary damage, the axe will allow you to disengage for longer periods
Is the 5% extra crit from axe spec really worth more than the 5% chance of an extra swing? Considering that extra swing can also crit? I realize that extra swing can also miss but, assume it does normal damage. It's still more rage. More rage is more damage. Isnt more damage is more better?
Arms as a whole is built around the synergy of deep wounds, impale and imp overpower. All of which is based off critting. If you are min/maxing you’d know axe is better in every way, if your not then it really doesn’t matter. Just go with what you want.
I never played a warrior. Didn't know that there was a choice of weapon for this, thought it was just an axe. The axe is just better than the others though so I get why.
Good vid this one. I would say the axe is best in most situations. As a human warrior, I would actually go with the warhammer. Looks pretty cool too IMO and is almost as slow as the axe, but as a human, one would get +5 skill which is always very, very nice (not only against higher lvls).
So.. most races, go for axe or warhammer. Orcs axe. Humans, go for the warhammer.
@@TheLordexilius Axe. Always. Weapon skill racials take a back seat when it comes to leveling. Weapon speed / damage is always the priority.
in kronos 3 it requires only 8 chamrs for each elemental
When it comes to this quest, i always pay it forward. I get help at 30, and once i'm 60 and geared, i always help L30 warriors.

When u look at damage for the weapon, do you look at the xx - yy or the dps stat of the weapon?? This always confuses me.
DPS is just a combination of the damage values and the attack speed of the weapon itself.
this means DPS is the most important ,but you should also be looking for the slowest speed possible as an arms warrior

I’m using an alt druid 41 to farm for the tusks and my god is the drop rate low. I killed everything in all 3 camps and NOT ONE TUSK DROPPED. Checked the AH and no one is selling them so yeah…stuck 🙄
This is probably the best quest I've done in an MMO. I managed to beat this quest solo at level 30 when I was 14 years old. The feeling of beating this impossible task was amazing and I skyrocketed through the levels afterwards. The reason I was able to do it solo was because I was level 29 twink that just levelled up to 30.

I had insane twink gear for my level because I was in a pvp guild what my brother owned and we shared accounts. They helped me get the best gear possible. The only gear piece I remember I had was the axe I had. "Corpsebringer" I think it was called.
I eventually got bored because playing Arathi Basin without a mount so I just levelled to 60. I did the quest by myself because most of the guild were Americans the lived in different timezones to me.
Getting that axe was probably coolest childhood memory I had of that game. It was awesome.

Just as warriors get this quest chain to get a powerful weapon in their early 30's, paladins get a quest chain to get a powerful weapon called Verigan's Fist in their early 20's. It does involve going to three dungeons around the world, though, so it's quite the trek for such a low level.

Just did this quest at lvl 32 on classic, mannnnn this was a hard quest. Impossible to beat cyclonian at 32, don’t even bother. Pay a 40+ some gold to help you for sure

I honestly don't understand why there are so many Warriors. Back in the day people hated playing Warrior but I've been playing it since day 1 so I understand the struggles.
This quest chain is an iconic example of why classic is superior

Since they have normalized weapon speeds for abilities in the classic client, isn't the sword better for humans since the damage crit potential is only present for normal attacks and not execute/mortal strike types of abilities?

Done it once back then. I won't doing another time. I am already 35, so it was easy to abandon The Windwatcher. STV part wasn't funny.
