      Hey I like your guys channel and guides.
      I would be really interested in a guide on pvp mechanics (melee or ranged). Things like positioning, how to abuse line of sight to cancel spells, how to disengage/mount up, etc. I think information on that type of micro is sorely lacking in the WoW community, considering how prevalent it is in mobas, fps, etc.
      Just a suggestion, keep up the great work!

      Another amazing vid! Hey Melderon, can you make a video on attributes. i.e how agi, str, int, etc translate to attack power, crit chance, etc for the different classes. Also, how when evaluating gear, how extra int for example on a piece compares with a + damage to spells/heals. Would be incredibly helpful!

      I personally will be making a Tauren myself, mostly because I was beyond happy to see Blizz is going with old model hitboxes, meaning Tauren have a larger than normal melee range due to them having a larger hitbox. aka, more range on melee attacks, harder to be kited/deadzoned.

    I think it's worth mentioning that for DPSers in general the crit reduction from the 2-roll system is fairly minimal since you're not getting parried and yellow strikes don't get DW hit-reduction. All it takes is reaching the 8% hit cap and your yellow attacks will see 94-95% of your crit chance.

    Interesting tidbit for you, at around 2:30 it's stated that mob stands for "monster or beast". In fact, it's a term that originated in MUD gaming (which MMO's are a natural progression of), and it stood for mobile. It denoted an object in the game that was "self mobile". Check it out:
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mob_(gaming)

  • @evilcam
    @evilcam Před 4 lety +1

    Does the same two-hit table apply for yellow hits on players then, if you plug in level 60 to the equation? Say, if your crit chance is 25% and you go to hit another player, and the dodge/parry/miss chance stack up to 25%, will you likewise then also only have a 15.15% chance to hit another player because of the 75% of the remaining attacks that succeeded?
    Also, damn this is a good video. I appreciate all the hard work and number crunching that everyone involved put into it. It shows your dedication to the game and community, and though it might not always feel as thought he community is sufficiently appreciative of it, I certainly am. eep it up.

    • @vilius8117
      @vilius8117 Před 4 lety +1

      yes 2 roll applies to pvp yellows as well. in that scenario, 25% of attacks that don't miss/dodge/parry will be crits, but that only amounts to 15.15% of all yellow attacks made against the target.

    • @evilcam

    A very interesting video like always. But this wont change the fact, that a tauren fury warrior looks badass even if a orc does more damage. Im looking forward to the raid enviroment and first clear spreadsheets to how much the dps increase or decrease depending on the race.
    And i have question considering the glancing blows. You stated that a weapon skill increase of 5 points increases your dps by 20%. But i guess in this case you mean 20 percent points, not 20 percent in general, beceause a damage decrease from 35% to 15%, so 20% points, means a damage increase of 133%. This is only considering the glancing blows not the overall dps. I may be mistaken so if somebody has a better understanding of math please explain :)
    And thanks in general for your glorious shaman videos !

    • @vilius8117

    Nice video. Not sure if the group went over this, and you happened to miss it, but I would really like to know what happens when you get above 310 weapon skill. Lots of people say that weapon skill above 310 or 308 starts to diminish. Meaning it has less of an impact on glancing blows and parries. Having Edgemasers handguards with +7 weapon skill and a human racial +5, you have 12 total weapon skill... use the ZG Warblades for another +6 you have 318 total weapon skill for swords.... what does this mean on bosses?
    Either way.. nice video and grats to the guys that help you make it.

    • @joelsnider3940
      @joelsnider3940 Před 4 lety

      So I couldnt find any specific information of a different formula to having more than 315 weapon skill but the gains above 308 are rather small. At 300 your glancing blows will do 65% damage of your normal hits, At 305 they will do 85%, At 308 they will do 95%. From 308 and up you will receive no further glancing blow benefit. Capping glancing damage at 95%. Now weapon skill also decreases your chance to miss by .2% per point until you get over 305 then its a .1% increase. At 305 the weapon skill formula changes which is why the hit chance jumps from 8% to 6%. So What this means is the difference between 308 and 315 weapon skill is .7% chance to hit and thats it. Anything over 315 may apply the same .1 %chance to hit per point but again im unclear due to the lack of available information. BUT assuming it does continue the difference between 308 and 318 would be 1% chance to hit.
      Most of this info was taken from github.com/magey/classic-warrior/wiki/Attack-table#miss
      Thankyou magey for all your hard work.

    • @vilius8117
      @vilius8117 Před 4 lety

  • @SBudgetStaudi
    @SBudgetStaudi Před 4 lety +1

    Cool video, but one thing wasn't really clear to me with the crit suppression. All those examples where hit from the front, but under normal circumstances you don't attack them head on because of the block/parry chance and certain boss abilities. If those 14% Parry + 5% Blockchance are off the table, do the 19% vanish from the table as not possible results or will those switch towards the hit percantage and therefore also increase the crit cap? Or something entirely different?

    • @vilius8117
      @vilius8117 Před 4 lety

      yes 14% parry and 5% block disappear if attacking from behind, increasing your white crit cap by 19%

Glancing blows is a chance of white hits to connect less powerful (your attack glances off). The chance is showed in the video and weapon skill is the only thing that can modify this.

    Glancing blows/WS: So if an example attack does 100 damage, but glances with no(extra) weapon skill, it does 65 damage.(35% penalty, boss) But with 5 bonus weapon skill, it does 85 damage.
    If we consider the 65 damage as baseline(that is the damage a player would do), then gaining 20 damage is a 30.8% increase in damage done.
    So even though you're negating 20% of damage reduction, you're receiving a 30.8% damage done increase on white attacks with +5 weapon skill.
    Glancing blows happen 40% of the time on bosses, so(30.8 x .4) overall you would gain +12.32% white attack damage. Is this all correct?
    Also, with +5 weapon you require 3% less hit to cap, and are dodged .5% less(bosses). The video said that weapon skill does not effect block, does it not effect parry as well? 14% against a boss, from the front always?
    So as a non weapon skill race vs a boss, a prot warrior will hit 3.5% less often(or 2.5% less often if they have 0 hit), and do 12.32% less damage on their(rare) white attacks?

    • @vilius8117

      you're receiving a 30.8% increase to what glances do correct
      but the overall increase to white damage depends on dodge/miss/crit/hit stats too
      parry is still inconclusive, we need a lot more hits on live to resolve this

      I tried to do the math on the hit/dodge. Im not at home but iirc the numbers I came up with were, if I had 4% hit from items
      69.5% chance for hits to land without weaponskill
      73% chance for hits to land with +5 weaponskill
      Which came out to about 5% more hits landed/threat as a human
      Significant but not world ending. Far more than I had expected though. Cant Edgemasters while tanking, Maladath will be a big deal.
      "Unfortunately" I may end up with a thunderfury down the line, and all the +weapon skill gear a tank can use are weapons.
      I worry a bit about threat at aq/naxx levels. I think casters are going to be the main concern by then, and being able to reduce a boss's armor to 0 should help a bit with threat vs them.
