Last time I bought a steel GMT was in 2007...called the local dealer to inquire about inventory and picked up the watch on my lunch break. After owning seven (three Daytonas, sub date and no date, GMT and a Roman two tone---and the wife two) at one time, I now walk past Rolex at the malls and casinos. Too many other great options. The seller is never in charge...the CASH is in control. Don't be duped into this silly game. It will eventually change as does the economy, and Rolexes available to walk-ins. This same marketing concept has put a blemish on Ferrari's name with collectors even though Ferraris are 10,000-to-one rarer, and caused havoc on the secondary and gray markets. Rolex has caused many of their dealers to sell for thousands over retail. Where do you think gray market Rollies come from? No thanks.

He’s like oh fill out this card and we’ll put you on the list, I laughed at him and said oh right the quote list! No thanks , next time I’m in town I’ll pass thru if I have time, not that important.
I build relationships with family and friends. The fucking watch store can just sell me a watch…and I’m all the things these AD’s would want. I’m not into flipping. Just buy, wear and keep an Explorer, give it to my kids.

So much bullshit, as a USA expat in Latin America I paid MSRP for a Rolex “ Root Beer”, 100 percent in cash at once for a special order, I had the watch in my wrist 2 months later. Relationship with a dealer my ass, remember… money talks and bullshit walks🙌
Is this truly the mindset at Rolex? I guess when you have more buyers than product you can treat your buyers any way you want. Rolex has chosen to disrespect their clientele in addition to demanding them to grovel. I can afford a Ghost, Picachu or Ice Blue Daytona on the secondary market so someone explain to me why would I do this exercise in humility at the AD? To save money? To buy at list plus premium? Or maybe, to buy at list and hide it in the safe in hopes of appreciation only to sell if and when it hits a peak? I know far better ways to make more money in less time. No thanks, courting an AD just to get a watch is not time well spent. I get way more satisfaction wearing and enjoying my Rolex laughing with my secondary dealer and friends at those that do this song and dance with “their” AD, still on the wait list, not enjoying the very thing they are seeking.
Don't position yourself with with tens of thousands in cash but choose to act like a begger begging for a watch. Buyers were insulted as ego thirsty suckers with artificial scarcities and stupidly inflated prices. It's a century old technology which parts can now be cheaply and precisely mass produced with modern machinery. Many reasonable and better options out there in the market than a Rolex.
This is complete nonsense. Treat these guys just like wvhat they are: they sell mass-produced watches. Ask for what you want and if they don't have it, switch for another brand. Anyone interested in horology will not give any attention anyway to your hardly earned steel submariner.
