So I finished my light weight gathering bag with the blue bird flour bag but unfortunately I don't use Facebook Instagram or Twitter so no pics so thanks again for your video
@@jaycook3902 Awesome man. Well I'm glad I could help. Also really happy that you took it and made it better.
"I don't have a pattern" Love it! I have never had a pattern for anything I've made. Sometimes it goes better than others, but usually it's pretty good and very educational ;)
I never start with a pattern but if I like the outcome then I sometimes make a pattern after. All part of the process.
That awl is so sick
I've never seen this kind of bag before. It's really cool. I don't work with leather but I'm trying to get into sewing so I might make one out of fabric.
Canvas would be a great option. Maybe just a pair of old carhart pants, plenty of usable fabric there. I would love to see the finished project.
Buenísimo trabajo amigo aprendí mucho un enorme saludo
Cool 😍
Hill Billy measurements..... LOL Good enough always works for me! If its for me & gets the job done.... Good enough! Great project, Nice work
Thanks man.

Nice job. I too work without patterns because it allows me to make modifications as aI go - and sometimes they work!

You are awesome!! You did a fantastic job on the video. Your project is fabulous and amazing! Thank you for showing this tutorial. I don't have leather but I do have cotton canvas that I plan to treat with mineral spirits and boiled linseed oil then wax it to make it water retaining. Your video has given me the idea as to how to do this. I will show you pictures when completed. Thanks again!
My pleasure, thanks for watching
Can you do a tutorial on your travel repair kit? It's so cool!
Well done and clear tutorial brother! Thank you! 👍 Wade

Thanks man
Oh My NORSE GOD! The most ingenious idea I have ever seen I am building one immediately
I love your I enthusiasm.
@@MakersMovementDIY as they say the first step is to watch the video three times so you get the concept down
Great video man.n LOTS of little tips are very helpful. I had no idea that you could clip those cap rivets off and use them like that. It's awesome that you winged it but still paid meticulous attention to detail.
Thanks alot man, I appreciate that you like the little details.
Good video great work
Thanks Keith
I have completed my bag I modified it and its awesome pics are on eye way.
Cant wait to see what you came up with, email me, nmsurvivalhardware@gmail.com

I just make things out of what I have. I’m gonna make something similar out of pleather, cotton and normal buttons. I might have to add a loop to put the button through but oh well! It will still work.
WOW - Nice bag, Great tutorial. good workmanship. new sub.
Thank you
Thats a cool ass idea.. be awesome for pickin mushrooms! Thanks for the idea... Redbeard
Thanks for watching man. Hope it works out good for you.
Neat leatherworking project, and nice tip on threading the needle! Thanks for sharing! :)
Stormdrane (David Hopper) my pleasure, hope that tip serves you well.
Stormdrane you’re here! I’ve been following your blog for years now.
Very nice and I will make one like yours I'm currently making one with a blue bird flour bag light weight and can use it as a water strainer as well
Very cool idea.
Excellent project! I can see Boy Scouts making and using this for hikes in areas where they are allowed to pick up items. They could also start out on a hike with items in the bag, then close up the bag when empty.
I love how you think! I never use a pattern. I think about what I want and how I want it to look, and I draft out my own design.
Haha, its more adventurous that way.
@@MakersMovementDIY I just finished my day job, and I’m sitting down at my new Techsew machine to crank out my version of a buckskin forage bag as part of a woodsman’s roll-up kit for my brother. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
was my foraging bag from same pattern idea or did you change anything? very nice video and enjoyed the soothing music!
I would like to know what kind of leather u used and how thick they are so i can get a idea what i should buy thanks
Wonderfulwork! What kind of marker are you using and how do you erase it if need be?
Thank you, I am using a Tandy leather pen and I can erase it with a standard pencil erasure. The eraser can discolor the leather so it is best to limit the mistakes as much as possible. But during use over time the marks will wear off on their own.
Can you tell me who made the snaps? Im having a hard time finding quality snaps.
Those snaps are from Tandy leather.
love that leather dump pouch, but that "Dremel chuck punch" is out f***ing standing
Element Bushcraft and Survival haha thanks man.
I've found that with thin stretchy leather a rotary cutter causes the least distortion
Very good to know, I may need to pick one up.
Very very nice. How do you like using it?
Love it, it is a great piece of gear to have, you never know when an extra pocket will come in handy.
Deer skin is tough to work with
Glad I found your channel. How would you recommend I get started with leatherworks? Thanks!
Figure out what you want to make first. Get the right leather and only the basic tools you need. Add tools as you add experience. Before you know it you will be able to make anything you want. CZcams is a good resource.
@@MakersMovementDIY thanks so much. Do you have an online resources for ordering tools, leather & sinus thread?
@@ScottOwens28 there are some links to what we use from Amazon on the newest video. We just shop around and get what we need wherever we find it. As we post projects we will also post links to some of the harder to find stuff that we use. We don't have a single source for anything.
@@MakersMovementDIY sounds great and outstanding work from the both of you. Thanks! 💪👍👌
Can't saw I "need" it but I'm making it anyway.
Awesome, I would love to see it when you finish. Tag me on FB, IG, or Twitter when you get it done.
Where did you get your mjölnir
I made it, haha go figure. I have some on my website. www.survivalhardwarellc.com
Que tipo de piel es la que usas?
I do the same thing instead of buying a pattern or trying to learn how to use Adobe Illustrator.
I do buy some patterns but sometimes you just gotta experiment and let the creativity flow. Thanks for watching.
@@MakersMovementDIY Are you allowed to sell your products using the patterns that you purchased? And if yes, can you recommend where I could purchase some decent patterns For anything from wallets to purses bags. I'm not worried about knife sheaths or holsters.
@@crypto_pinto2660 deiselpunk.ro has some fun and easy patterns at a great price. He asks that if you sell more than ten that you buy the pattern again on the honor system. The real advantage to using his patterns is learning how to make your own. He also has a video for each pattern with detailed assembly instructions. All around that is the best that we have found.
@@MakersMovementDIY Yes, I agree I enjoy his products patterns and videos. Just did not know about the honor System and being able to sell Products from his patterns. Thanks for the info.
A roller cutter works better kinda like a pizza cutter but sharper
Jordan Hyland yea, they are great, I was just trying to make it non tool dependent as much as I could. Thanks for the comment Jordan.
What about a vid on how you use it and things you can use it for
Have you ever tried seamstress tape?
Are you talking about the soft tape measure that taylor's use? I have a few of those.
@@MakersMovementDIY no it’s a double sided glue tape for holding the sewing edges together and I have used it to make a buckskin shirt and chaps and anything else that I punch and sew
@@rousesimpson3546 That actually sounds amazing. Ill see if I can find some, thanks for the tip.
Hello if you post and E mail I will buy one from you !! Please reply, I am interested !!

I made mine out of oil cloth, not nearly as good looking as yours.
DezDawg I wanted to mention that but I forgot, it can be made out of most any materials. I think I'm going to make a light one out of a carhart pant leg. Thanks for mentioning that. Pinning this comment to the top.
A sewing machine would save you a bunch of time
For real it would but we sew everything leather by hand. Not sure we will ever get a machine.
