  • The Fall Guy is a 2024 American action comedy film directed by David Leitch and written by Drew Pearce, loosely based on the 1980s TV series about stunt performers. It follows a stuntman (Ryan Gosling) working on his ex-girlfriend's (Emily Blunt) directorial debut action film, only to find himself involved in a conspiracy surrounding the film's lead actor (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). The film also features Hannah Waddingham, Teresa Palmer, Stephanie Hsu, and Winston Duke.
The Fall Guy premiered at SXSW on March 12, 2024, and was released in the United States on May 3. It received generally positive reviews, and set a Guinness World Record for the most cannon rolls performed in a car.

I disagree Mark. I felt that it was all meant to have that 70s/80s vibe. It felt like a better quality episode of The Fall Guy tv series. As a 70s child, I really felt and embraced the retro vibes.

You're right, Mark. The Bionic Man sound effect could be heard when the bad guys were shooting up the apartment and the leads moved out of the way of the bullet.

The only 80s TV show movie that worked as movie I think is Miami Vice. The A-Team was okay, but only Miami Vice worked as an actual thirller.

Bullet Train didn't take itself seriously, it knew it was going to be ridiculous and that's why it was so funny and worked.

@@sawalhaadderleys I have a feeling this movie may have been made in the 2020-2023 period but was shelved, and got its release post the success of Barbenheimer to capitalise on both actors current stock value.

Such a shame. One friend says funny better than expected, the other disappointed and didn’t laugh once… agrees with you then Mark. Not much I want to see in the cinema of late. Where’s all the good films (that aren’t horror 😰) started Bullet train last night and only managed 30 mins.. bored.

Ah I’m pleased you enjoyed it / love differences of opinion - I found it predictable sadly - but you’ll know that from my review 😂😂

It’s flopping at the box office for a reason. It’s an extremely cynical enterprise, this repackaging of a relentlessly mediocre 1980s TV series as a feature film. The Charlie’s Angels and A-Team movies were awful IMO. What’s next, Chris Evans as TJ Hooker? And although I think Emily Blunt can be great I actually think she might be one of the reasons this is doing so poorly (at least in the US). Emma Stone or Margit Robbie would have made way more sense. Blunt doesn’t have that same kind of appeal to audiences.
