    Area 71, a 3D printing company from Italy, was offered to send me some bodies to check out and wow, the kits did not disappoint.

    Hey Dave, I have the Cadillac ATSV and a Nissan R35. I am working on them. But it is a lot of work. Zack Morgan he's in Home Racing World Facebook group has done a Corvette C8 and a Aston. He does nice work. I can't wait to finish mine.

      Thanks for the name drop here, it is just a matter of time and patience with these kits but the cars run so well it is worth it.

      @@morganmotorsports4220 you're welcome. I really like the cars you have done. Hopefully my cars come out as good as yours. Have you started working on the Cadillac? Would love to see that one.

    Thanks for the great video Dave. Thinking of getting the Cadillac ATS-V and Acura NSX GT3 from TA71, and this video convinced me it’s a good choice.

    The surface appears to be somewhat textured. I'm curious to see the result after it's painted.

    Hi Dave, I’m 68 years old and haven’t done anything with slot cars for 50 yrs. My how things have changed! I’ve been following you for several months and I must say I don’t know where I would be without your information. You have been incredibly influential in the planning stages so far. ( already spent nearly 2k and put nothing together! Sorry dear no vacation this summer! Lol) Anyway, regarding this latest news. Can you give a brief discussion re: running gear, motors etc. ? Who makes what and what fits where in relation to these kits or just what to do and what to look for to update older cars of different manufacturers. Sorry, long winded, so appreciate what you do. 👍👍👍👍

    But me, because I ordered a Porsche 911 RSR kit in October 2019 (!) already. It was not only not delivered till today. I also got a promise to be compensated with two other kits in the meantime, but those didn`t arrive till now, too.
    Great deal! 😞

    These run on par or better than most anything in their comparable class, just with the usual tuning. Great video Dave, I have many of these kits in stock for a reason!

    Texture on the bodies look poor. Casting or printing of the wheel inserts looks sub prime too. Just wondering if you getting these as comps makes these reviews subjective?

    Being a CAD designer myself and having done some 3D printing, I'd love to see how he does these, what software he uses, if he is scanning or pure CAD design or ?, what printers and material, etc. as you noted they're spot on &. Also, if you do give one to your friend to play with, you should video the process of finishing the body. I developed my own technique for getting a smooth finish... but always open to improving my technique and prepping the body is much more labor intensive than a typical ABS white kit.

      @thearea71slotcars38 Před 3 lety +1

      So many questions ;) The printers used are HP 4200 and 5200 MJF, and the material used is PA12 post processed with a carbon composite compound (it is a proprietary process). The software used is Catia and the result is a combination of scanning and pure CAD design

      @@thearea71slotcars38 the “grainy” surface withstanding, the SLS printing method you all use yields awesome results! I’ve seen some of these 3D vehicle assets available online, but reverse engineering from that mesh content can be a laborious process (which ever CAD package you’re using). Keep up the great work!

    The rough surface who cares you can sand it smooth or scrap it to make it lighter. The car is going so fast you don't see the paint job at all on a slot car as long as it looks decent who cares causes the body shape and details are so stunning a little sanding smooth doesn't matter it's a good trade off
