The tentagraph is high intensity titanium not steel. The name originates from here according to monochrome "TEN beats per second, Three days power reserve, Automatic chronoGRAPH"
I was hoping for a 37mm with the 9F8x quartz movement, the one with the jumping hour hand so you can change the hour and date without stopping the movement. It’s all good and we’ll having a movement accurate to 10 seconds per year but if you have to stop it whenever the clocks change it’s a bit of a shame.
It's a big boy, though, at 45mm. Other comparable models like Zenith Chronomaster Sport comes in at 41mm, and Rolex Daytona comes in at 40mm. If you have an 8 inch wrist, you may be able to pull off a 45mm watch. For me, I gotta stick with the smaller watches.
The new Daytona movement is DOA… there is no measurable way, any spec, that the 4131 is better… and then Rolex decided to “show off” the movement revealing now a new measurable way in which the Grand Seiko is better (albeit the Rolex is platinum version which is 5x more?)?… that was like the proverbial bringing a knife to a gun fight!… and it’s cheaper too? Wow! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
At this point, Rolex does not offer very much for their price point. It is basically a collectors market made for green market dealers in the upper echelons of society. Seiko is definitely geared towards the consumer in the individuals that want to be able to walk into a store and buy a watch and not have to be bent over and molested in order to have one. 😂
Yeah the GS is great, if you don't want to see much of the dial pattern (because of the chrono subdials), and you think that 45mm is in some way a wearable watch.
@@ivanharlokin it’s actually 43mmx15mm, same as most Pilot watches and the same as the new Odysseus Chrono, and the same as my vintage Speedy! So yeah very wearable… especially for men…
Yeah, I bought the Tentagraph in uk 🇬🇧 Nice watch, I'm enjoying it 😊 Joined the GS9 Club and Grand Seiko sent me a matching colour Platinum Pen, with a hand written thank you note 😊
I want them to make a Spring Drive powered watch with a display case back, sapphire dial, sapphire case and skeletonized bridges also made from sapphire.
They've done well on the chrono. expensive- of course but ad a daytona rival for the non-rolex but lux type customer whose a bit of a watch nerd... yes, its a winner. Not sure how many they'll sell but it's a good peice for sure
The chronograph is to die for but as you point out it is also very reminiscent of the £600ish Prospex. The latter I am on the verge of buying by the way. The platinum birch thing is pretty cool. As for that sapphire job, no thanks and not at any price. Nice little video 👍.
Looks awesome but the case size is a little big for the medium to smaller wrist. I can wear 40 very comfortably but that is very large and tall. I got a Bulova chronograph that's a 38 mm and I thing feels heavy on my wrist.
Tentagraph, absolutely: versus the Daytona? That's easy - not just "high-beat"... *super* high-beat, with three-day PR. They brought their A+ game this time.
We ll see tentagraphs around 10k while cheapest daytona you could buy in second hand market is 35k. Most of You could get tentagraph from the boutique while it is almost impossible to get daytona from rolex.
Tentagraph is an El Primero killer. The only negative aspect, particularly on a high beat movement, is to defer to that tacky (pun intended) tachymeter scale on the bezel. Centigraph is where is at like on the Zenith.
I'm going to send Tom a lion cub. I want a Seiko, GS is getting too pricey and artsy with the dial offerings. I would consider a 9f GS quartz. There is an over saturation of the watch market by all companies chasing dollars. Grat vid! Thank you Chris
For me the engraved limited edition is the MVP of Watches and Wonders (so far). It made my eyebrows rise in pleasant surprise, as opposed to the wtf surprise of the Rolex jigsaw day date.
I don´t know what´s up with GS design team. The chronograph sure looks nice but, leaving the dial aside, it´s pretty generic. Also, this is going to be a bulky beast. Then the other two... well, at least you won´t see anything like it in anyone else´s wrist. Not sure that´s a good thing, though.
The GS Chrono is still huge, only negligibly shorter and thinner than the spring drive models. GS will crush the Daytona when they make a chrono comfortably wearable for most people. An micro-adjustable clasp also wouldn't hurt. GS has some great watches, and has made a lot of recent strides, but still a work in progress, particularly as they've been steadily raising prices.
Great brand need to increase their production run to crush Rolex though but they are on the right path alternative to the Rolex Daytona???? we shall see
Yeah my first rule is: if you don’t want to wear the watch then it’s not optimal for you. I love grand seiko design philosophy but they haven’t crushed the Daytona bc they’re so cumbersome I end up choosing not to wear them after a time. This laptops….any designer could put all the most insane hardware and create the most powerful laptop ever, but it would be so obnoxiously big that no one would use it or only a tiny segment. ELEGANCE is fusing technology with versatility and form with function. Part of the success behind your Apples or Rolex isn’t just brand identity and it’s def not the most technical, but they’ve fused their products with an elegance that’s unmatched when combined with their capability. Of grand seiko can just stop making their watches so big I’d finally wear them and THEN say they compete with Daytona
The slgc001 reminds me too much of the Seiko SBTR02 variants which can be picked up for £120. Sure it's got all they GS wonderfulness but I cant get passed it looking the same as the seiko
With this chrono now we have a redundance. The Quartz chrono sells because the similarity with the Daytona, now Grand Seiko made a chrono who looks even more like the cheap chrono.
With all the fabulous quick-release bracelet mechanism options on the premium watch market, I cannot understand why Grand Seiko still holds on to those unsightly lug holes, detracting from otherwise beautiful case finishing on their $10,000+ timepieces.
The Daytona wins for me, as it's a sensible size. As is the Zenith Chronomaster, of course... The other two GS novelties are too expensive for anyone except drug dealers and rap artists ...😉
That diamond GS was so bright I had to squint my eyes to see it. Tentagraph is going head to head with the new Daytonas, but I'm guessing Rolex will do the usual thing, put people on 3 year waiting lists, demand you buy 2 other watches first, OR you can buy it for 3x price on gray market sites. So ppl will just go for the GS which will no doubt be available quickly.
@@Melontheyoutuber I was thinking more of the price point that is a couple hundred dollars apart. Also I bet Daytona availability will be next to zero in a month or two, limited to a long AD waiting list, yet all the rich youtubers will have one, but the GS will still be available in stores for years.
Personally I didn't like the Tentagraph! Everything is great in this watch. however, I belive that being unable to observe column wheel functioning is terrible for a luxury watch 🥱 It's a General rule of thump for any luxury chronograph. That's why I'll buy Spring Drive Chronograph SBGC253 because GS first Mechanical Chrono sucks.
I think the jigsaw Rolex, is a finger up at GS and their evocative, "Mount Fuji on a winter's day, with ice crystals hanging off the cherry blossom tree, as they reflect on the serene waters with tear drop ripples" dials. Rolex can come up with a piece of designer crap for rappers and basketball stars, perhaps the tik tok generation (could be anything out of the norm really) and everyone wants it...Rolex taking the piss out of GS perhaps? I had a Daytona and the GS chronograph ( as it appears here) seems to leave it in the dust! ❤
The Tentagraph could have been great, but the ridiculous date position completely ruined it. Why do watch manufacturers put the date in such a stupid position? The last watch was fantastic though.
Very nice Pentagraph. Everything looks good except the thickness and the ability to keep +2 seconds a day. Seems like the only company in the world able to build a 39mm x 12.5mm thick chronograph that can keep +2 seconds per month and have water resistance to 100m with outstanding durability is Rolex. Why is that? With the so called engineering might of companies like Omega who just can't seem to get it right and are stuck in the 70's or earlier. If I could buy a Daytona at retail I would because of their specs. If other manufactures only had an example they could follow for success..like the Daytona and produce a watch like this. I would buy their watch. No one is getting my money until they figure this out. I'm not a Rolex fan boy but I sure can understand why people like the Daytona. Grand Seiko using titanium is one up for Grand Seiko in my mind. My preference over SS any day.

I’m disgusted you missed my favorite release. Hana-Ikada. The Rose Gold Shunbun without power reserve on front. Favorite watch or WaW so far
The White Birch case watch is so TACTILE! Love it. 😊
The Tentagraphic looks beautiful! Definately something special!
The ta in tentagraph is referring to t for three days and a for automatic

That says more about how good the prospex is than how bad the GS is
The only thing that looks like the prospex imo is the stepped bezel
On the chronograph it’s column wheel and vertical clutch, I believe the movement alone is better than the Daytona
That's nice. Unfortunately, the GS is a 45 mm dinner plate of a watch.
