    Watain is a band that never really clicked with me but I have always agreed with Erik most topics regarding Satanism and Black Metal (same case for Dissection and Jon Nödtveidt). His answer about cancel culture was an interesting take however I fail to see more bands going against the grain in general. Great job as always Jerry! Cheers.

    …. I’ve never heard one person say that WATAIN “ slipped” with The Wild Hunt. That’s rubbish. It was a step in a new direction that encompassed new sounds the band had in the it cannon. They were capable of MORE, and DELIVERED. I wish more BM bands were as multifaceted and diverse as WATAIN is. It has to EVOLVE, or it stagnates. They gave flight to their Gothic Rock influences on TWH, which took them to a whole new depth as a band.

    • @RautaMetal
      @RautaMetal  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I don't know if anyone said that, but like said, The Wild Hunt is seen in general as the weakest Watain album. That doesn't mean, of course, that everybody thinks like that, just majority.

    • @KyOte13
      @KyOte13 Před 10 měsíci +2

      @@RautaMetal the only people who have ever gave that notion ANY consent, are journalists and media personalities, who , if we go by your example, apparently consider artistic progress “ weak”. Real Black Metal & Watain fans know better. That’s incredibly small-minded, and no one outside “music critics” ever bought that narrative.

    • @RautaMetal
      @RautaMetal  Před 10 měsíci

      You assume weird things like that I think artistic progress as such is weak. But let me ask you this: do you think that bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Darkthrone, Satyricon´, Burzum or Slayer are nowadays better than in the past because they progressed artistically? I think all these had their haydays in the past.
      Then again there are bands like Cannibal Corpse, Marduk or Judas Priest who did some of their best albums after decades of existence.
      My point is: there is not just one kind of "artistic progression". Every band is unique with their story. It's not black and white.
      Regarding Watain and their favored albums: based on both what I've read and seen on sites like Rate Your Music, I have to disagree. But we all come from different scenes and bubbles. It just might be that your scene prefers Wild Hunt while it seems my pals have liked other albums. But in the end does it matter? For instance, my favorite Slayer album is different from many of my pals, and so what?

    The people who disliked The Wild Hunt are for the most part morons who dont really care about the music or the art! What they care oh so mush about is some made up BS metal rules from a made up BS metal scene «there are no metal community, its illution». Swine not worthy of the perls.
    The Wild Hunt is not only the best album they have done but with that album they also trancended labels and genres and became their own very unique thing with songs like the tittle track, Outlaw, Holocaust Dawn, The child must die, Black Flame march and yes THEY ROAD ON!
    I dont care what morons have to say about that song it is a AMAZING song. And with that song especially they showed that they are in fact real artists who do whatever they want to as apose to all the real sell outs who are stuck in a bubble from their teenage years. It was such a exiting time for music around 2010 -2015. It was kind of like a breaking point where no one cared about rules anymore and did whatever they wanted with bands like The Devils Blood, In solitude, and at the time: Ghost and Shining to. I have selldom been more dissapointed then when Watain realesed their next album and where they had regressed everything they startet on The Wild Hunt. Instead of beeing so full of life and fire like everyone was saying it sounded so calculated, generic and devoid of fire. It is the only Watain album where there is only two songs thats good while the rest sounds like a phoned in, generic wanna be Mayhem de mysteries band ! I am so Glad they picked up the thorch again with The Agony and Ecstacy of Watain wich is there close second best album

      Be it as it may, I also find The Wild Hunt their least passionate album and also the tamest one. With that album I think Watian lost its touch. If that make me a moron, so be it. For me it’s not a good album, but more like Satyricon’s latest ones: lukewarm

    Interesting what he says about Berlin & cancel culture, for sure true. What he later add's (around minute 31:28) does not apply here- no one of the woke stream ask's anything, it's straight cancel, sometimes threats, organizers obey and thats it.

    Aside from Dark Funeral, Behemoth & Dimmu Borgir , Watain took to another level the fact of making this genre a damn CARTOON of itself and a pathetic circus, oh and i forgot Belphegor 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
