11:58 He's talking about the Bangalore Open Air festival in Karnataka, India. It was a wicked time. The festival's promoter, Salman, works for Wacken and has been doing something similar in India for the last 12 years. The festival is growing every year, I've vlogged the last 2 years there. Nice to hear Erik talking about India, thanks for the interview.

I had privilege to meet Watain last month at Bangalore Open Air and they were so nice to their fans. Sadly I couldn't say anything during meet and greet besides offering a handshake because it was too loud out there but glad I got a signed card from them and a selfie with Eric, and talking about their performance, it was the highlight of the festival.

I had no idea Iranian black metal was a thing but I checked out Trivax after seeing your shirt and holy shit this band is amazing.

I was on the camera crew for bloodstock 2012 and I was lucky enough to film their performance, that was the moment where Watain made total sense to me and became one of my favourite bands. They are an absolute force of nature and will never be anything less than vital. This was a fantastic conversation. Power to you sir!
P.s. at bloodstock, on Saturday morning, I was carrying a tripod to the MainStage and Erik walked past. Without me knowing I narrowly missed his head with the tripod as I turned around to look for my crew members. So glad it didn’t connect😅

Bloodstock 2012 was something else! Last show of the Lawless Darkness era.

Absolutely, some fantastic performances that weekend, but Watain took home the gold imo.

Great conversation! Sadly it ended to soon and at the most interesting points. Would have loved to hear more about the spiritual side of Watain. Looking foreward to a possible second part.

Damn man, this is awesome. Never was a huge watain fan, but seeing them live several years ago gave me a deeper appreciation for them. The show still to this day sticks in my mind due to the energy. I will absolutely see them again if given the chance. Great interview as always man!

I saw Watain open up for Mayhem in Dallas Texas. Had to drive several hours. Was a very special night. When Erik through the blood into the crowd I hit the face of a cute blonde right beside me lol.

Great interview, both this and the one with Alvaro! Glad to be lucky enough to have been able to see them in Bucharest a year ago! Definitely the most fierce, profound and enjoyable experience I've ever had in a concert! TTD and far beyond!

That intense physical feeling you get from music is called frisson. Look it up, it's pretty interesting.

They surely stand up with their live shows and overall dedication to the scene

Despite the fact that they've been going for over two and a half decades, their approach to art remains to be a very refreshing thing, especially in today's world.

I love this conversation about the (anti)cosmic energy that can be found in music, and especially Black and Death Metal. It’s rare to hear people discuss the ecstatic sensation of listening to it. It’s almost meditative for me, not in the stillness and quietness of mind way but in an excitatory way. It’s the same feeling you get from the adrenaline rush of extreme sports or sex, like millions of neurons are firing at the same time.
Erik is right. When Metal is done right and when the creators are conscious of the energy they are manipulating - it’s absolutely magic(k)al.
Btw - Shayan you mentioned the testosterone at that performance at the high school in Iran. Just imagine what a crowd of women with synchronized menstrual cycles would be like! Even more savage, I promise. You’d either have a bunch of women who are ovulating, or bleeding, or have premenstrual rage. It would be brutal as Hell! 🤘

He communicates with the spirit of the dead, definetely on their live performance, another one is Attila Csihar and Dead had the same approach. Great work here!
