that was pretty entertaining enjoyed the tour through the garden. If we were only payed money for the hours that go in to these garden RR we would be loaded. But we all know different,it is a labor of love and our reward is a kind work and the many smiling faces and the look in a child's eyes is worth millions.cool video. MCM
8:25 was cool. Demolished house and some rail cars still on scene. Like a high speed derail and the train smashed into the house and James decided.....cool...looks authentic enough so I don't have to clean it up. And the big ass duck is sitting there like...."hey...what do ya want from me?"
Boy that's a neat video, and layout how many feet in the layout? What type of system do you use trackpower/battery???? What are the big silver tubes sticking out of the ground, and neato carnival where do you get those rides???? I am a carnival fanatic myself. Regal
whats the degrees on the steepest grade and did you have to do to get the trains to climb it im going to be laying my first track in spring and need to know cause i have a little over 50ft at 5 degrees up hill run and need to know if i have to lessen it with a tressel?
Run the video again and you will see that at 3.03 the turnout is set against the train so it has to trail the points. The leading wagon camera car probably throws a wheel off the rail until later on it corrects itself. Nothing to do with any track problem, that one is a signalman problem ;)
There are squirrels but in the 14 years they have never been a problem on the railroad. Bird feeders yes, vegetable garden tomatoes yes. I also make sure I do not feed the squirrels anything especially corn. I have had moles, one winter deer, chipmunks, woodchucks, blue heron in the pond, a toad has crashed the A-B-A engines two feet to the ground. I make sure I do not have any exposed wires. Hope that helps.Thank you. Jim
Great thanks. My land is fairly steep, and I know how easy it is to get too great of a grade. Even things that looks level are way too steep, hehe. Thanks for your answer
Very long run. I see you use rail clamps, but I also noticed a reverse loop, do you use track power or battery? Good idea its elevated, mine is ground level, easier for "scenery" but harder on the back. Fred Woodhaven, Mi
I use track power but I also have a trailing battery car if I want to use it. Do you belong to the Lakeshore Garden Railway Club? I have just rejoined.
Track power 7 battery - best of 2 worlds. Not a member of the LGRC, attende several open houses over the years. On a side note, how is Sonny doing? Was sorry to hear about Jackie - she had been thru hell the last few years. Stopped by the store, called the phone number, but haven't had any contact with him. Keep 'em on the track, Fred
Sonny is doing well you just need to contact him before making a trip to the store and he will meet up with you. There is a new member to the LGRC near you so I just wondered if it was you. LGRC is a G scale modular club always interested in new members. Guest are welcome let me know if you are interested.
I'm also on Facebook. Thanks for news about Sonny. If there is n LGRC meeting at either your place or the new member near me, please let me know, Thanks, fred
Very nice!!!. however it is a misnomer to call this a garden "Model R.R" a better description would be "Backyard Model R.R" in garden railroads U must Manicure your foilage.that being said, this is the most Awesome "B.R.R" i've ever seen.
James White I wish I could come and visit, I think I could spend a week just sitting out there and watching those trains go by. Great setup thanks for the upload.
Subbed. Excellent film and one of the most impressive layouts I´ve seen. Check out my (slightly smaller) Kent & North Wales Light Railway, an indoor live steam layout.
It is great having money. I like piss my money away on things like motorcycles, cars, firearms, trips, houses and jewelry. Get a job and find out what it's like.
Evidently, you have a self esteem issue and like to take it out on others. This guy probably works or worked, his butt off and is now enjoying the benefits of his years of hard work with his hobby. What do you do with your money....waste it on beer and pot?
I bet the neighbors and their children really love coming to see your layout and watching the trains run
I could see me on a hot summer day sitting on one of thouse chairs drinking a beer and waching them go around all day,,good video, nice layout.
This has to be one of the best one's I've seen especially with the carnival rides that alone put this in my top 3 video's fantastic job
Thank you so much Mark. It is very rewarding to get positive feedback.
I no longer think that my garden railroad idea was grandiose, well done indeed !
Nice Scorpian set you have there... Great railway, by the way!
Nice video Jim. Keep up the good work!
Fantastic !
That is awesome. Thanks for sharing it.
Sweet! Nice touch with the amusement park. Didn't expect Sylvester. Must be a pain during the changing seasons.

Do u store the trains out of the weather when not in use
Did the cameea flat you were pushing derail a wheel @ 3:05? Picture was bouncy after that.
Yes, I forgot to throw a switch.
Super. How do you handle the critters, et al squirrels

How did you construct the carnival rides? Do you have plans? Did you purchase them?
Ferris wheel is from KNEX, Pola merry go round and small ferris wheel, Bully small circus tent. Some are kits.
I wish you were my neighbor.
Hello. I was wondering if you ever allowed visitors to your layout? Thank.
Yes I am in Lambertville Michigan. Email me: jwhite729@bex.net
6:50 is that a roller coaster
Very nice. Great layout. Alot of work I know.
What are your steepest grades, do you know)
1.5 % is the biggest grade. The junction line that goes down the green fence has an opposite grade of the land and that makes it look much greater.
Great thanks. My land is fairly steep, and I know how easy it is to get too great of a grade. Even things that looks level are way too steep, hehe. Thanks for your answer
Aldergrove Garden Railway Where are you located"
Nice video. But I find it very annoying that people think elevated railroads are garden railroads, they are not.

I live in southeast Michigan

I like this how long make whole
I think your turn at 3:00-3:30 needs to be reballasted and made a little smoother, might save you some costly derailments
