i think what i liked most about this video is that in some spots you start to feel it's a normal sized train .... then suddenly some enormous thing pops up like a cactus or a trashcan and jerks you back to reality. fantastic video. wish i was closer to scottsdale to see this layout in person.

Excellent Work Gentlemen. Great scenery, crossovers, switches, frogs, trestles and I beam supports as well as banking, grades and track clearences. Seeing this up front appears as if I was in the cab of an old SD-40 back in the SCL days. Congrats !
@1DanielChristensen I calculate the apparent scale speed as about 28 mph. (If you factor out the gradual start and slowdown, it would be over 30.) A little slow, but within the range for prototypical freight trains. Actually, I'm glad the engine noise was minimal: The rail sounds were fascinatingly vivid! Haven't had this much fun since I road the Pan American in 1969!
On the left side you will see a giant Garden Lamp , on the right you will see another 2 lamps , above you will see a Bridge , that's all passengers , we hoped you enjoyed it and , good luck not getting eaten by ants .
Beautiful, excellent work. It's a dream millions of us out here have had, and still have. Largest area I ever had to work with was 11 x 20 room on a plywood sheet. Imagination, and lots of dedicated, loving work is the sign of a true train DREAMER. Just wondering how wet weather allows you to operate. And I know..there isn't too much wet weather out there in AZ. Great site.
Simply put "Awesome" ; Only in america can anyone do what you've achieved in your back yard ( perhaps?? ) ; We here in Australia have some places that are as big in size but mainly out in the regional areas ( or outback as you'd call them over your way ) , however , you've done great with your layout & video & if there's a way that you could show your layout from a Airplane view or pilots view showing the actual track plan - I think that it'd give a greater perspective to your viewers on how hard you've worked on getting this to where it is now as those wooden bridges show heaps of work in them alone.

Now, there could be some things that could have been added or changed in the video to make it better. For instance, you could have added some commentary about the set up or maybe some music added for interest. I realize most people aren't here to create an Oscar-winning movie, just something to show off. Once again, great footage.
I'm not really a train person, however I LOVED watching your video. And, I almost freaked, no not almost, I freaked when part 1 ended. I didn't realize it was in 2 parts at 1st. That said, I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. Do you allow visitors, as I would love to come and see your train. And I live on the other side of the country. If you allow visitors could you give an address or web site. Thanks again for a wonderful video.
I know it would be asking a lot from you, but is there a way I could see how the layout look from the air, like if I google mapped your address I bet the satelite has photography of it, or it should.
A brilliant layout for sure, when I was a kid in the 40s, I would watch the museum of science and industry layout in Chicago...also I went to the railroad fair...I used to have an American Flyer train as a kid :)
Yo man great railroad no jokes. How big is the land of yours. Is it a backyard or something oyu found near your house. anyways, How much did it The whole thing cost, since these track and landscape stretch on for miles, these things donesn't seem to come cheap. Aww mostly your paycheck and the permission of your wife i guess!!!!!

Aside from the out of scale scenery, the dumb thing about garden rail is that you are always looking down at them (unless you climb down into a 'river bed'. And, just what does this RR do ? Don't it get boring watching it go around the circuit over and over, with no industries, spurs, yards, engine facility, towns, stops ? With the buck you must have why not change to live steam. Indoor Gn3 or Gn21/2 is another thing entirely...Sorry, dis no go for me......................... to poop on...
I always thought if I ever made a garden railroad I'd have the topography of the viewer change dramatically so tracks would go over people's heads and then at eye level and so on to solve that "looking down on them" problem and then the train would have to serve the "port" community of the hot tub with adult beverages to give it an economic purpose. Of course, this means serious landscaping/earth moving and/or a pre-existing topography that is fairly dramatic.

How many trains can be ran at one time? And why was their no only train running in the opposite direction, it would be interesting to see that.

G scale Garden railroads almost exclusively use G scale for it durability and detail.
