Loved what she said about fantasized imagery of Asian artists especially in Kpop. It's a double edged sword, the Korean industry perpetuates this infantalisation and people respond and in turn demand it. I love that there's a new generation who are opened up to other cultures and influences of being able to stand strong and proud in being different but also proud of ones heritage - with a unique spin. Love that she's upholding where she's from and blending it with something new.

I was so sad during her hiatus because I thought she quit music altogether but it’s great to see that she was rebranding. Ngl tho I’m a huge fan of her earlier music. It has such a soothing effect on me and although I can’t say the same about her music now, it’s still great to see she’s being creative and freely expressing herself. It’s also really nice to see that she wants to change people’s perception about the Asian community. It’s true that a lot of westerners view Asians as passive and that’s why racism toward Asians isn’t taken seriously. Hopefully, more people start spreading awareness about this.
Also, as a Kpop fan it’s nice to see some artists that were part of that industry, breaking out of that mold and redefining their art. BTS are doing it and now Lim Kim is...hopefully more follows.

But does that change the facts tho? It’s like saying the earth is round and some flat earther saying “I disagree”. I’m sorry but that ain’t gonna magically flatten the earth Cindy but go off ig lmao
Bts have been real artists who have been creating their own art since their debut. Having control over their creative process, they compose, produce and even contribute to their own choreographies. Not to mention making music with actual substance tackling really heavy subjects that are taboo in their home country, from mental health, to politics , the rigid school system, unfair societal standards, etc...
They’ve went beyond breaking the mold of Kpop, they’ve even pushed the limits of being an artist.
Their impact on not only the industry but just society in general is undeniable but I guess this is easily overlooked because they’ve become well known now and that somehow takes away from their value. You know... since people seem to think that hating on popular things is a personality trait🤪🤡

Nat Personally I think that their latest album is one of their best and one of their most personal. It’s a bit too pop for me in some parts, but the lyrics are amazing. I think their HYYH albums are the best out of their entire discography so far, but BTS are no longer producing music with extremely dark themes and it’s fine, artists grow. They’re happy now, and I think their new music reflects that. I don’t agree with the pitchfork review. I don’t like this narrative of “Only songs talking about suffering can be called good or art.” To me, to a certain extent, it glorifies pain and suffering. Maybe you’ve just grown apart and don’t like their songs anymore, and that’s perfectly fine too. You don’t have to like everything an artist puts out or the direction that they take, but I have to disagree with calling BTS just a brand. The lyrics obviously show how personal this album was to them.

Thank you for such an amazing video! Korean experimental music is ought to get much more attention than it does! I'm sorry if this is asking too much, but I wonder if you guys could maybe make English subtitles optional and add the language that is spoken in the video (in this case - Korean). I'm sure there are a lot of people who are learning Asian languages among those who are subscribed to your channel and adding subtitles can help a lot in learning the language in an entertaining way. Thank you, once again, for all your hard work and I hope you'd at least consider my small suggestion!

And I was thinking that she haven't came back yet for too long now and this pops in my recommendation as if YT wants to give me answers, and I thank this channel for interviewing her! And all the videos you upload are so worth watching for! 👍

I think it's great what _Lim Kim_ is doing with her music. She's going beyond the norm for what people expect of K-Pop and also breaking barriers of what it is presumed/stereotyped about Koreans or Asians in general.
9:51 I bet they weren't expecting to see her in person. 🤣
I think the way she uses crowdfunding and keeps in communication with her fans like this is good. I'm sure fans would feel more appreciative.
I wish the best of luck to Lim Kim.

Was never much a fan of Mystic's style and Lim Kim's debut there was accordingly underwhelming for me. But the moment I heard her performance on OnStage, I took notice. There was an authenticity and fire to her voice and presence that I never would have expected from a former Mystic artist. I'm glad she was able to persevere, connect with those that support her, and make the music she wanted to make. I'm definitely picking up her next release when it hits the shelves.

I've been with her since All Right, Goodebye 20, and Rain. I absolutely loved the indie music she put out, too. My favorite song of hers was actually "Drunken Shrimp" and "Like You Know It All," when she kinda changed her image and went into the more mainstream K-pop sound with Love Game and Awoo, I loved it. Blonde Lim Kim was an era you'll never forget. It wasn't uncommon for solo female (indie/ballad) artists to go for a more K-pop comeback after a while, but seeing how she's in her *ultimate form* ???? That amazes me. She's honestly her own artist and is breaking down so many barriers. I feel like this decade, a lot of East Asian women whether American or in their respective country are really gonna carry the entire music industry. They're breaking down so many barriers. I'm glad we're slowly getting more Asian representation, and badass women at that 💖
