@@MaybejustNarbe I actually ended up returning it. Using it as a rear view mirror was awful, in my experience. I prefer to have my actual mirror to view what's behind me because it is much clearer. So I returned, got a refund, and chose a Rexing V5 instead which goes behind the mirror and has been excellent.

Excellent review. I bought it and installed in my RV. It’s very nice to be able to drive down the road and have a fully functioning rear view.
That's what I wanted too. I don't care about what it's recording ahead of me while I'm driving. I can SEE that! I wanna see what's going-on behind me. The cheaper ones won't let you run the rear camera as default.

Excellent video! Concise and right to the point. I have a cargo van with no windows behind the driver/passenger door, so having a system like this will (hopefully) give me a better view of what is going on behind me other than what I see from my side mirrors.
Finally, a video where they actually show the product and it's features and how it operates etc. It's like the 10th video I clicked to actually find some useful information about these mirror cameras.

Dude this review and installation process was an ABSOLOUTE PLEASURE to watch. I have been struggling to find information regarding specific rca cables with 4 pins and other types of systems and either I could not find much meaningful information or downright 0 success finding certain cables, parts, etc. THANK YOU

New intro? I have 10" mirror dashcams in two of my cars. I tried a 12" and was surprised at how much bigger it appeared. I didn't like the unit though and sent it back. A couple of things to keep in mind: depending on the car, a 12" mirror may interfere with the sun visors. Also, most lawyers will tell you not to use the GPS function because it records your speed on the video. Since almost no one drives the speed limit, this could be a real problem if you need to use the video in court. I know in at least one State, even 1 MPH over the speed limit is an automatic "at fault". There used to be some dashcams where you could record GPS data but elect to not record the speed on the video. I wish all dashcams had that feature.
You mentioned having glare on the mirror during the daytime. I found that if I flip the day/night lever on the factory mirror, the glare is gone.

That’s fur but if you are going the speed limit and a dirty cop pulls you over for “speeding” you have the proof. But good points.
I don't think Court will take the GPS as a valid evidence
: Did you check the time lost between loops? My current $35 dashcam looses about 30 secs between recordings and i have lost so many critical moments

This is a really good review. Question - the mirror on my car is about 10 1/4” wide. How wide is the front camera on this device? I’m trying to determine if it will completely fit over my mirror or if it will need to be installed far enough left for the camera to clear and thus leave a small strip of the factory mirror showing. Akaso DL12 - 12" LCD Front & Rear Dashcam + GPS. Okay, I installed the unit in a 2010 Chevy Silverado Ext LTZ. And I got the rear camera all the way back and hucked the red wire to the backup light.
Works great!
As for the glair from the rear window, you must realize it is to be used as a TV monitor, not a mirror! So I turned it to the left so it was just like looking at a TV when I turn my head at it and the glair was gone.
I think it is the best thing since sliced bread!
BTW: When I first hucked it up everything on the touch screen worked slow, but after a while it was fine! Guess it had to learn?
I have had the Akaso DL12 - 12" LCD Front & Rear Dashcam + GPS for some time now. I have a 'Speed Turtle' in the OBD I use when I'm on call for the Fire Dept. When it is on the Akaso DL12 - 12" LCD Front & Rear Dashcam + GPS keeps going from 'back up' to the 'rearview' about every three (3) seconds. Checked the video and it is no big deal.
Still love it!

Doesn’t work with factory vehicle back up cameras. Would need to mount your own to get one that works
Attach the red rear view cord to your vehicle camera port.
@@Funwithaball yes, it works with factory set up... You plug the red rear camera cord on the camera to your factory rear. Then you'll see the rear backup in the mirror. 🙂

How long does the battery last on parking mode and or u have to hardwire the camara
I've had mine for years. The camara I think gets very low voltage and only activates if your vehicle is hit or there's a shake. No battery issues.
Bought one and rear camera quit working....they are sending a new one free of charge. Great customer service.

I wonder if it's too heavy and will eventually "peel off" the original mirror off of the windshield. These days, many mirrors are glued on to the glass, unlike the old days.

Worst comes to worst, the fact that the cables protrude from the top of the device would technically prevent it from falling completely off if the original mirror did become unglued lol.

He makes this looks so simple but most of us including me if we try to install this our car would not crank afterwards due to some electronic problem
I installed mine for 30 mins only without any problems. As long as you know where you going to hide those wires your fine. Basically it's plug and play , and if ever you have a backup camera just install this inside as a rear recording camera that's what I did my VW Tiguan.

@@saurabhhadkonkar711 what do you mean by that? If the dash cam is off it has G-sensor and it will automatically record and lock videos, any movements or even a slight bumping in your car it has like 30 seconds to record when the car is off.

Just suppose I'm driving at night and not using the mirror to record, I've just kept the mirror in power off mode.. so in that case does it work like an auto dimming mirror?or it has an anti glare feature??

@@saurabhhadkonkar711 I understood u correctly.. U could change the orrientation of the rearview mirror as u normally do as it is attached at the back.. U can adjust the position of the front camera as it is adjustable but would not effect the back camera..

Same story with me. Just installed it. Things are way closer than they appear on my stock camera

@@brandofamily no, they look much closer than with my stock backup cam that came with the car. Like twice as close.
Bryan Kafka how close to a normal rear view mirror image do they look? The issue w all cameras I’ve tried is the object’s distance behind my Jeep is distorted once the object is more than a few car lengths behind me. Similar to outside mirror on passenger door, but worse.

Can you turn off the gps? So it doesn’t record like mentioned below the speed? Also and can we turn off the sound from the dash mirror? Can you also erase from the unit or you need a cpu? also is this legal to have moving backup video in california?
Update: I got it. If you don’t have the gps cable plugged into the system it doesn’t track gps but no speed displayed either.
You can have the sound off from one of the settings.
It erases from the unit. No need for cpu.
Also you can turn off the little “ harp” boot up sound

It is a really nice device as well as a great review. But have we ever thought that these multiple abilities and views provided in fact would distract our concentration while driving?
The one I have now is distracting. I find myself glancing at it while I'm driving. This one can be "put to sleep" while still recording.

2 flaws about this product.
1. Date/time - inaccurate. Every few days, I noticed the time is off by 10-15 minutes. I don’t know how these days that digital products can have such bad timer. 😔
2. Strap hardware - quite insecure. It’s bad enough to reduce the basic function of rear view mirror.
Just make sure to have the device with its battery loaded and it might not loose it.

I installed it in 1.5 hours in a long bed tacoma. I did have some experience because I had the AutoVox X1 for 2 years before I got this one. They are cheap but screens and cameras are relatively cheap in general these days..... I am ok with spending an hour or two to install a new ones every 2-3 years considering you also get feature upgrades. It's worth every penny having full unobstructed rear view on a truck with an otherwise useless back window.
