    I have broken my right ankle 3 times and tore all the lateral ligaments in my ankle I have had 3 ligament reconstructions , I just thought I was clumsy , and this is the first time I have heard about the nerve thing , I just always have to watch what type of flooring I am walking on, if its uneven it's a nightmare I have no self righting reaction on my right ankle if the floor is uneven I can't correct my balance or footing and that ended up with a lot of dislocations of my ankle , when I was between surgeries . Because of his ankle issues I admit that Steph is one of my favourite players , because I know to some extent what he has been through, and yet he is still playing , I wish I could say that my ankle issues were as functional as his .

    10 yrs ago, I wore NOTHING but high tops and 3/4 tops for "ankle support"....but over the yrs I noticed that half way through a season of sports, my achilles would be SORE to the touch and I figured out the high/three quarter tops were putting extra pressure on my achilles....i went exclusively to low tops and noticed my ankles got stronger and have not worn hightops since AND my achilles totally stopped bothering me....i guess i found/learned on my own observations but I agree with supports being more of a crutch even after the ankle sprain was healed and it was more for confidence in the extra support...in the end, i stopped using braces etc and let my anatomy do all the heavy lifting and it has made a world of difference...the right shoes and support for what I do has helped the most in the long run....great video Zach!!!

      @orangetweleve Před rokem +5

      yes, unfortunately there's still lots of people haven't realized that ankle support is all about high tops and braces, it's the flexibility/footwork/strength training + a shoe that has a stable base and is the right fit that you need, it took Kobe to start wearing and vouching for low tops for people to start listen and stop talking nonsense, that a few extra pieces of cloth can totally support 120+ lbs of meat and bones lol

    As a chronic inversion sprainer & no ankle brace user, the only thing that'll actually help is good torsion cushioned shoes, Band rotations & dumbbell dorsiflexion. Have improved stability but cant do anything about injuring ankle by landing on someones foot off rebound or shot

      Retraining your babalnce and proprioception would work wonders more than any of that. There are plenty of protocols online they are tedious but they work its only way you are going to be able to train yourself to avoid an injury long term.

    Great video. re: your point about any downside of wearing support - For a middle aged weekend warrior, where the loss of mobility is not an issue - is it wise to wear ankle support - i.e. the 1/x a week usage won't cause any reliance issues?

    I’m 15 and have sprained my ankle 3 times and broken it once, now I wear the same braces as curry (they are very good). I still am strengthening it and have done physical therapy. I just don’t know if I will ever be able to not play with the braces or if there is anything I could do to test if I just have instability or just weak ankles compared the chronic issue like curry.

    Hi could you make a video about Jordan 35? And what's inside?

  • @jah-leah
    @jah-leah Před rokem +4

    Steph hasn't rly sprained in a while though, right? Anyways the secret to minimizing ankle sprains y'all is working on proprioception, working on your toe spacing, getting into walking barefoot from time to time which strengthens the bones in your feet and nerve receptors, ankle mobility and end range strengthening, and wearing shoes that fit and have great support. I need to heed my own advice, but as an athlete I never sprained my ankle and once I did, the flood gates for foot issues opened. Left to right, to hip issues, to calves etc. When I was growing up we wore big clunky shoes all the time and I really think it caused a generation of people with bad feet. Kobe, imo changed the game with his shoes and approach. Because Lebron was so big, his space shoes was the other side of the coin. We are slowly deconstructing the shoe and I think we're better for it. Happy healing and holidays!

    As a Warrior fan who's watches every game for nearly 15 years, I don't recall all these ankle sprains your referencing since his Brostrom surgeries. I've actually seen him roll the ankle while landing on another players foot and was able to shake it off with those tight ligaments. Most tweaks he has he's back in a couple games. I'm not challenging the nerve issue, just haven't seen what you're talking about. Anyhow, I have a Warriors game to actually watch. Peace!

    I had to have total reconstructive surgery on my right ankle. Had to have 3 screws put in. Been 24 years and have had not any more
    problems with the ligaments or tendons anymore. However that surgery ended my sports career. Bonus though is I can walk now.

    Fractured my medial malleolus, and partially torn my ligament and tendon around it. My doctor was terrible, didn't bother giving me CT or MRI scan. Literally just 1-2 shot of X-ray, and put me on a cast. It was my first time ankle injury. I didn't do much research and believe w/e doctor says. I should've went to see more doctors. Now, my ankle is never the same again. 2 year later, I still can't dorsiflex and plantarflex as good as before. Pretty much stuck like this. Can't asian squat anymore. Walking down stair scares me now. Afraid to jump too high. 2 months ago I started wearing a brace like Steph. Now, I feel too insecure without it whenever I exercise. Went to see some physical therapists. Always found inexperienced therapists that gave absolutely no help. I'm so tired of health care system in the US. T_T

      Yeah this is a very very common story I hear unfortunately - the grade of ankle injury is so so important to nail down because sometimes it can be improved or sometimes theres a good surgical option as well. True, it also doesn’t help he either doesn’t decide on his shoes or has no idea how to communicate to his team to make better ankle support shoes because this is a problem with practically every Curry shoe that exists.

    can ankle brace act like AFO? I had Foot Drop from accident 3 years ago, since then I can't move my toes and ankle. even my foot its felt numb. I'm using rigid AFO for 2 years now, but I need to change to more flexible brace because I don't want my muscle loosen more. hope someone can answer it
