    What I learned from playing basketball for like 4 years straight almost everyday is when you swish a shot remember how it feels, muscle memory along with great mechanics is a great way to be good at shooting.

    • @cs3k3
      @cs3k3 Před rokem +34

      You commented this a while ago, but still: When I shoot the ball sometimes I can physically feel that my muscles are "perfectly aligned" or something, and I know the second the ball leaves my hand that it will be a swish. Still can't really recreate this feeling every time, but I'm on my way.

    • @bunduman18
      @bunduman18 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@cs3k3 just aim for a swish. it'll make you aim for a higher arc for a swish. even if it's not a swish, you'll still have a higher chance of making your shot.

      Yep definitely true. I don't play very often but when I do just have a shooting session on a court, I might find a rhythm and get 3 or 4 three-pointers in a row from trying to replicate the exact same feeling. Then I lose it after a while though.

    Ive played tons of basketball and shooting has always been my specialty. They key is practicing good fundamantal mechanics and consistency. No matter the range, Consistent form. I always aimed at the back of the rim because most people end up short so if Im aiming for the front and I hit the front, I succeeded. I have heard both ways. Arc is super important. "Gotta get it up to get it in" is how I stays in my head. Either way, front or back of rim, get arc and always aim for the same spot.

    There is no need to aim IT cones by itself
    You learn the technics to shoot then you Just need to remember how you scored
    Im Not looking to the basket
    I Always stay in 30 to 40 percent scoring nonmstter If Theres an opponent or im playing alone
    Theres timelines where i Score 60 to 80 percent depending in the flow
    Im Not looking to the basket
    ITS Just a millisecond
    Im Not thinking while throwing
    If you concentrate on aiming IT will Focus you on the wrong Thing
    You should aim AS a beginner
    Then next step you should repeat the whole movement
    If thats what you did you need to shoot from everywhere creating yourself to Score out of Balance and different situations
    You can See that they all shoot Up to the Same positions
    But the biggest Players have some Special moves and sbilties
    IT comes from creating a Shot and handle or arm swipe they repeated knowing IT will Score
    Sometimes ITS Other Fingers
    Sometimes ellbow or the feet
    To aim is Just for beginners
    Also to hold the ball everytine in the Same way with the Groove or seam in Fingers wont Push your scoring
    You need to firget IT and shoot the ball in every Situation
    To hold the ball with the seam on the Fingers is for beginners and If you have the time to correct the Balls Position in your Hand vor This Safe scoring Shot
    I did it with the seam AS a beginner it helped me
    Then i didnt used IT i anymore i Just Relied on IT for Safe scoring
    If you got big hands and you can Home the ball in one Hand you shouldnt Put your Lifetime in Shooting the ball only with a correct positioning in your Fingers
    That will Limit your scoring

I didn't want the ball to land on the front of the rim, just have the back part of the ball graze that inside of the front rim as it was dropping through. I always seem to shoot a couple inches far so it was usually a swish. But when I'd see that rotation stop as the ball grazed the inside of the front of the rim I knew I was on.

    Do not put your hand directly on the "bottom" of/behind the basketball when gathering. It should be slightly off center so that when you raise the ball (which naturally turns your wrist), the hand does end up naturally rotating and does in up on the bottom. Practice it slowly until you have a feel for where your hand should hit to accomplish this and you'll end up with a far more natural feeling shot that is easier to replicate.

    It gets me every time when people talk about finger placement, all of the finger placements shown are the same because the ball is a sphere. The line on the ball is just a concept only the follow through that matters.

    Any thoughts on thumb flicks? I shoot more accurately on average with it, but sometimes it pushes the ball left or right.

    • @njckholmes3533
      @njckholmes3533 Před 2 lety +4

      You only shoot consistently with it is because you’re used to it. I guarantee if you train yourself to shoot without a thumb flick your shot will be way more consistent in the long run.

    • @kevinsutube1p528
      @kevinsutube1p528 Před 2 lety +1

      Thumb flicks don’t push the ball one way or other. Something else is going on in your shot. Curry and kyrie use em. Your thumb is off the ball before you start shooting towards the basket.

      @@kevinsutube1p528 which is exactly why they push the ball left or right sometimes. When you go up for a shot you have the ball centered in your shooting hand (every1 will vary slightly) your off hand vome off the ball first and when it does the thumb flick will move the ball while it's still in your hand. Then when you finally do release it bc remember this is all happening really fast, the ball can/will be more to one side or the other causing the missed shots left and right.

      @@kevinsutube1p528 the only way that a thumb flick doesn't interfere with your shot is if you have your dominant hand off a little to the left/ right and the thumb flick balances it out. If your dominant hand is centered then yes it can interfere with your shot.

      @kevinsutube1p528 Před 2 lety

      Stop trying to put your shooting hand directly under the ball and your wrist flexibility will be just fine. Watch some videos on curry shooting in slow mo. He starts with his hand under the ball but to the side and then as he gets past his set point and goes into the shot his hand goes directly under the ball. That’s how pretty much everyone should shoot
