I had this issue on my e92. I even used a go pro to see what the subframe was doing like you did. I took the easy route and got the powerflex inserts installed which really helped. The beauty of the inserts is you don’t have to drop the subframe as much and they are a lot easier to fit as you’re not taking the old ones out.

I done my E91 a couple of months ago and also changed to Whiteline ARBs front and rear....IF you're thinking of doing that too, just a note to advise that it's much harder, the back end kicks out so much easier (whether you like that sort of thing or not) so may not be to everyone's taste. I'd also changed the rear diff bush too whilst the diff was dropped, which could be the "cluncking"

    • @GeorgeAusters

Clunk during high torque suggests a drivetrain issue. Have you checked your diff-to-subframe bushes? Those poly bushes saved you having to get the subframe in a press as well. Still think an upgrade too far on a BMW though.

@@GeorgeAustersI also have a very small clonking noise on/off the throttle in the lower gears. In addition, I also have a separate what sound like backlash clonk that occurs only when engaging drive abruptly in the lower gears (or its only noticable then). It could be Diff, but those are cheap and plentiful to swap if necessary.
The backlash sound is not that concerning imo, the other clonk you guys are also exhibiting is of more interest though. I have checked all bushes on mine and cannot see any obvious reason for it. I think the issue is either DMF or Guibo, but more likely DMF in my case as I feel engaging the clutch causes a small jerk on both up and down gear changes, u less the clutch is released very very slowly.
Would be interesting to know if you guys have a new LUK DMF in your cars and are still exhibiting a similar knock to what's described.
