  • After my side-by-side review from a few weeks ago, I thought it was time to purchase a new one. Miller Marketing had them in stock which was a good sign that the reeds were an acceptable quality.
    You can purchase one at millermarketing...

    Hi, great comparison video. Have you tried the medium-hard?
    The color is really good. Do other woodwind players even notice you're playing a plastic reed?

      I don't recall the hardness of all the ones I've tried. I don't play on them full-time anymore. But when I did, it was always positive feedback.

    Great comparison! Also, how do you trill from Eb to F in the Mozart Bassoon Concerto?

      I was about to tell you that I trill with a full E-flat fingering and release LH 2/3 but then I watched myself and realized that is not how I'm doing it in the video. In the video I'm using the full E-flat fingering and trilling by releasing RH ring finger (g-key). So, there are two options for you to try. Let me know which you like better on your bassoon!

      Neither of these two trill fingerings are listed on the IDRS website... The number of alternate fingerings on the bassoon truly makes my head spin! Seems to be infinite..
      How is this being taught in academically curriculum? Are these "secrets" passed on from teacher to student only?...

      @@Zdrange03 definitely passed from teachers to students. Important to collect fingers in your own library.

    Being synthetic, do they still need to be broken in ?

      Yes! Depending on how much you play each day, about 7-10 days of consistent playing.

    How long does one reed last?

    • @bassoonwithaview
      @bassoonwithaview  Před 2 lety +3

      I have had all my Legere reeds for several years now. I played one reed full-time for an entire season and it lasted (3-5 hrs/day, 5 days/week) for a concert season, basically an entire year.
