Friedel Crafts Acylation of Anisole Experiment Part 2: Reaction, Workup, and Characterization

This organic chemistry lab video describes a Friedel-Crafts acylation experiment. Anisole is treated with propionyl chloride and aluminum chloride to give 4'-methoxypropiophone. This is the second video in the series and describes carrying out the reaction, working it up, isolating the product and characterizing it by IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy.
