    I actually get all of my soap labels printed professionally now. Since making this video, I realised how important my time is, so I outsource all printing. Boxes are also an option that helps to save a lot of time.

      Thanks for the update. We recently started using the same sort of paper for packaging. We still make our own labels though. Would you be willing to share the actual size you cut to for the final wrap?

      You could add a color, maybe off the red wax, just by getting the boots in the wrapping paper printed a different color. Shouldn't cost any more. Maybe even get an assortment of colors still cheap because the colors would run consecutively, not simultaneously. I dunno, talk to your printer! I'm going to look into it myself.

    BLESS YOU! I wrap my soap in brown lunch bags cut down to size with my logo attached with double sided tape and a wax seal for decoration. I was lighting the wax candles and dripping it on etc etc ETC. It looks great but what a pain not to mention my soap room smells like matches. Then you showed me the wax sticks! I just placed my order. I cannot thank you enough! THIS is why people ask about packaging. I learned a lot and you gained a subscriber!

    Hello! I also have/had a passion for handmade soap making. I was known for my goat milk soaps and I wrapped them in lovely black damask cellophane bags tied with a curled ribbon. I had to give up the business a few years back, due to my body starting to act it's age. I was a bit hard on my body in my 20's during the '90s, wild child then. I wished I would have had all of these wonderful resources that are here nowadays. It's wonderful to see soapers are sharing tips and tricks. Even though I can't make soap, I still love to watch the videos while crocheting. SO relaxing! I have a few bars coming to Nebraska, that I just ordered from you, and am sooo excited to receive! Thank you Tiggy, you're such a cool gal!

    I think the very first time I discovered you on CZcams was because I saw an image of your seal. And I immediately went to your channel, because I also used a seal and I used the same colour wax (still do). I've been binging on your videos since. LOVE your channel and the little talks while you make. Quick little tip. If you have a piece of marble or granite, you can just place your seal on it between presses. The coolness of the stone cools the seal down enough to prevent sticking. Placing it on an ice pack also works, but I don't know if you have a freezer at your shop to store an icepack. So, you can give the marble or granite a try if you'd like.

    Cute video Tiggy. I love your packaging. I have been a soap maker for 20 years now and I must have packaged my soaps at least 20 different ways. I do not like soap boxes and refuse to use them. I also do not like shrink wrap or naked soaps. It is hard to find packaging that fits your look and budget. I do something similar to yours but I use vellum, as I am in the USA. I also let the top of my soaps stick out. I can gift wrap them by adding a ribbon over the vellum and around the soap before I add my label. I also put a wax seal on the back of my soaps where the label meets. I need to find a cheaper wax stick supplier though as it is very expensive to add the wax seal.

    I started with gift bags rom the Dollar Store, but it was hit and miss finding them. I then went to shrink warp, but didn’t like that it wasn’t always smooth and folks couldn’t smell the soap without cutting off the ends. I then picked up some wax paper sheets...OMG, I LOVE them! But my concern is falling in love with a design and then one day not being able to get it again. Didn’t even think of having the paper printed, so thank you for that. As for labels...... At first I was adamant about printing my own for some of the reasons stated...wait times, small batches, etc, but I use the same recipe for all my Goat Milk Soap, so it would be nice to have preprinted sheets where all I had to do was add the name of the soap depending on the scent used.

    • @LadyGecko
      @LadyGecko Před 4 lety +1

      FuturePrimitive Soap Company - True...the laws regarding ‘soap’ fall under the jurisdiction of the CPSC (consumer protection a safety commission) instead of the FDA (food and drug administration) and even if your soap crosses over to a ‘cosmetic’ under the FDA, the laws are fairly loose so long as your color additives meet safety guidelines. Where it starts getting restrictive is when you start making ‘drug’ claims, then you have to be licensed, your products have o be submitted.
      I’m still debating how far beyond ‘soap’ I want to go, though I have already started with Lotion Bars and Salt Soaps. Thing is, I don’t want to have a ton of different ingredients or set ups...such as you would need with bath bombs and liquid lotions and bar shampoos.

This has worked for me and I sell at vending shows and have been for over 10 yrs even with other vendors around I've sold the most....another suggestion would be to put your soaps in the bathrooms with your card attached for customers to use I've made plenty of sales that way.
