    Super cool video. Love the running atmosphere and the video sequence at the end. I live in Lowestoft and see LNER stuff running in and out of the station. But your video beats watching from the sidelines. Magical stuff Lord Al. ❤. I am at age where a lot of my friends have passed away. Keep your spirits high, your videos are an inspiration. I love your layout. When I win the lottery tonight, I’ll be able too build my own perfect ( or my interpretation ) railway world. Thank you for giving us so much pleasure and dreams. Paul.

      Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching. Yes we would all like to win on the lotto .i do the post code one and won a few £10 . but still waiting on the big one and i would have a bigger shed. lol. Just for the layout.
      Regards Lord Al.

    LORD AL!! my condolences on the passing of your friend.
    Love the camera rig absolutely brilliant.
    Great work with the magnetic couplings, ive experienced the same derailing issues solved just by swopping it around lol.
    Really enjoy your dramatic running session Brilliant work.

    Hi Allan,
    I like the scaffolding for camera shots very clever indeed so Hunts couplings will be bringing a kit out soon I would think!!!! Sorry to hear of your friend passing always a sad time but good you have this hobby to help and the HST's do look great as well as the 800 well done.
    Cheers Robert.

    Hello, m'lord! Great video and walkthrough with the couplings and pointing out the differences. They definitely bring them closer and more realistic. It is funny how a derailing issue solves itself by just turning the wagon or coach around sometimes. I loved seeing your camera rig... that was brilliant to learn. I may just have implement it for some running shots someday. Great running session yourself at the end... it is a beautiful train, and I had not realized how reflective the silver GWR was. VERY nice!

    Brilliant vlog buddy.
    Hey I know the 3 amigos were still there, saw them on your previous vlog.
    Couplings are superb. I'm using the hornby magnetic ones because I won't run as many wagons as yourself.

    Hi Allan, offering you sincere condolences for the passing of your friend.
    The Hunts couplings really make a difference on your Class 43 Castle Set. I have the ScotRail 7Cities equivalent Hornby set fitted with the same couplings. Going forwards the train has always run well but pushing non-motorised car first caused me no end of issues. Unbelievably it turns out that the tolerances in the tooling differ even between supposedly the same Mk3 sliding doors Hornby coaches. The kinetic couplings are particularly problematic. You just need one coupling to ‘jam’ and it’ll pull the following coach wheels / bogies off the tracks. Hunts identified this problem and developed the couplings you’ve just fitted. In theory the wee ‘prongs’ either side of the magnet provide additional control of the kinetic coupling action and pull the couplings back into alignment. One of my ScotRail coaches had such a poor operating kinetic coupling it actually broke the prongs on the Hunts coupling after time. I eventually found a discounted replacement coach which runs and operates as sweet as a nut. Just to show how it can be pot luck my Hornby Midland Pullman 43 & coaches operate very smoothly with the now factory supplied Mk3 Hornby magnetic couplings. I just wish all UK models could be like our Continental ones where you can fit whatever type of couplings you want so it’s so easy to run stock together from any manufacturer. Thanks again for a very informative video. All the best, Andy

    Hi Allan, I'm going it's upside down, it's upside down, Gemma said who are you talking to I said Lord Al it's upside down, then you laugh and said oh ekk I've just put the Hunts coupling upside down, well we both started laughing😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. The couplings did make a big difference and very nice it look. The camera holder work really well good job. Sorry to hear about your lost.Colin

      i would say 50% of the fleet has them now Clive .
      Peter Dixons fleet is 100% Hunts .and he runs
      2 nd and 3rd radius
      I would have more but still have a lot with the old D couplings on not worth messing them because of the cost .

    Those Hunt couplings are great. I'm experimenting with them on my stock and trying out various configurations, including those el-cheapo mk1s that came from that Hachette partwork for £4.99. I'm looking for ways to eliminate the gap between coach gangways, which is an ongoing adventure..
    I love the camera rig you've built there. Looks a bit like scaffolding hehe
    Thr GWR mk2Ds are derived from the old Airfix tooling, they were made by Mainline, Dapol and Hornby, depending on who had the tooling at the time. I've got a whole 9 coach rake of them. Mostly Airfix but there's a Mainline one too. But yes they do seem to be a tad long. I'm hoping West Hill Wagon Works are at Modfl World Luve next week so I can ask. I tend to find a 0.5mm gap is the optimum amount between gangways on rolling stock. 1mm at most depending on the curves on a layout otherwise they bind, as you said in the video.

    • @dragon-junction-MK2
      @dragon-junction-MK2  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes it`s a big trial and error most of the time .There`s not many coaches the same all with different bogies and couplings. .If you ever get the chance to get to one of the big shows Hunts are there .And they will help you all the way.
      Them cheap coaches you may need a step type coupling .Just watch out for that there`s a curved valance under neath on the ends
      Thank you for watching DJ

    If hornby had followed Lima's lead Nd did British HO we'd have all the big companies that tried british HO still doing HO, thus no more oversaturation of models using that dreaded G scale sized D ring coupling.

      Hi Lee ..I would think so .but there`s only one way to find out really. It`s one of them things trial and error . or give hunts couplings a ring on Tuesday and they will tell you for sure . they don`t work Monday's that often because of the shows .They do small swivel end`s ones for this type of bogie.

    So do you put your track directly onto the base board? Ie no cork underlay?

    • @dragon-junction-MK2
      @dragon-junction-MK2  Před 2 měsíci

      It`s 50-50 really only one side of the layout has cork. it`s just the way it turned out at the time. and only 2mm cork at that. ..If i started all over again i would cover the whole layout in 2mm foam board . far better than cork. And cheaper
      Hope that helps
