5:44 The crosshair can be configured. If you download the command center you can configure how you want alien vision. Those box size can be adjusted as well. As for the crosshair selection, only one is viable for competitive play and that's crosshair small. You have a choice of 5 two tone colors, I use black with white. I used it for aim labs and overwatch 2 and it's useful to have a consistent crosshair. All the other crosshairs are to large or don't give the precision that you'd want from a crosshair.
I don’t use it at all.
@@RyanYu I only use it for certain games. It's useless for call of duty because of the visual recoil. It would have been nice if a custom crosshair could be created in the command center rather than the list you can choose from.

i own and really like this monitor. personally wouldn't want to go bigger because i'm a lifelong "sit way too close to things" person (not good for eyes, i know lol). the HDR is next-level. i can appreciate good graphics but, since i prefer the 27" screen i dunno if i'll ever be a 4k gamer, even as it becomes more feasible down the line. 1440p gaming has been a real treat for me.
also, yes, the common thought was that most people can't tell the difference beyond a certain amount of Hz, but there are other studies contradicting this. (ex. fighter pilots could see a plane that was shown for just 1/220th of a second.) and it reduces motion blur. i don't even game competitively 90% of the time but i believe the brain can register the higher framerate.

I was wondering buying this monitor and see a video wich alot of people were having flickering problem while they are not using hdr and when they switch to hdr there problem is not any more don't you have any problem with it since you have that for along time

Great review! I have the Asus XG279AQM. This monitor would've been my choice but it's not LED like the 34 inch one so I guess I'll just wait to see what OLED monitors are going to be released next year before I upgrade. Although, I am glad they didn't decide to go 4k on this monitor. There isn't that much screen real estate to justify 4k so it wouldn't be too noticeable between 1440p and 4k.

There is a software called wallpaper engine in steam.

How is the contrast? I found nano-ips panels have lower contrast ratio. Also can you enable overdrive settings at 280hz?
For me it's okay with contrast, but there is a person who dislike the contrast on this monitor, I think it depends on different people with different things to do with this monitor.

Actually the stand "legs" are way less protruding than on other monitors, like ASUS for example.

I actually wanted to buy the AW2721D with G-Synch Ultimate, but have now seen this monitor and have become a little unsure which I should buy now. Black Friday, stands at the door and I don't know which one of the two of them should buy. I haven't found any comparison tests so far. Do you have more information about whether it still makes sense to buy the older AW2721D, or would you prefer the new AW2723DF? They are similar from the price. Thanks for the video!

Soon as a Alienware releases their OLED 27 inch model, ill certainly be buying that and selling my current AW2723DF. They won't be releasing that though until 2024 at the least.

I also was hoping for a 27” 4K monitor, or at least keep the G-Sync module and make a 1440p/360hz like the Asus pg27aqn. Alienware seemed to be competition with them whenever a new monitor had come out.
I have the aw2521H monitor as I got it for $350, and it’s still only $400 on Amazon. I got it after seeing the review on RTINGS. The contrast ratio is even higher than the aw2721D, and since I play competitive, the 1080p didn’t bother me back then, although now I would like 1440p. Might have to get the Asus 1440p/360hz even though I own all Alienware products like you haha!
So you really didn’t notice a difference after losing that G-Sync processor and going down to compatible? Also, do you have a PS5 to test this monitor to see if it accepts a downscaled 4K signal or at least the 1440p?

dell has much better colors and 280hz, definitely dell, I had the problem myself and I don't regret that I chose dell 🥳

It is, however, the 2721d is the G-sync ultimate, and this one is the compatible, but I don’t notice that much a difference, plus this one is cheaper.

@@Hilmo91 you are right, but it’s $100 cheaper, more fps, and I don’t personally feel that much difference between the ultimate and compatible.

@@RyanYu great I suggest using techless’s icc colour profile I am having difficulty using Alienware software and checking if it updated to latest version would love if you could do a video I know it’s kind of specific video for viewers but yeah great investment to a couple of years and this should still fight strong waiting till 600 mhz is casual play will be wild love the channel keep it up bro

Ryan i have Gigabyte 1440p 240hz, it has amazing picture clarity, i am amazed how clear everything looks, but it has red pixel on middle of screen, should i return it and add 50$ for Alienware 1440p 280p, my question is is it better then Gigabyte in terms of picture clarity, text clarity, did you have anyinfo about it,respond if you can
Try the Alienware one, I have not tried yours so I’m not sure.

Kind of, cause I don’t notice bleed almost at all.
I just got one today and it will return it because of it. It has quite a lot of both, it bothers me too much. My X34p ips ultrawide has a lot less and its a 5 year old monitor.

@@bledarrm7976 Not only, I also notice it on any darker color, also the IPS glow on the lower half is pretty bad when sitting in front of the monitor.
@@AlexPetcu84 it’s really jarring with these. they make you opt for oled displays only because of these issues. I would try get them to send you a brand new one. The reviewers always get the best one for some reason lol
I just bought this monitor but for some reason no matter what I can't get it past 144 Hertz The overclock is grayed out and I have a 4080 graphics card does anybody have a clue what's going on?

had this monitor 2 weeks ago.
Build quality is great, no dead pixels BUT the contrast ratio is the worsed i´ve ever seen. if i must guess, 700:1 max.
Blacks, even dark greys look like shit with this milky shimmer.
had to send it back to dell. The poor contrast was an absolute no go for me.

for bright scenes it is ok, but when it comes to darker scenes it is a nogo for me.
the best 240hz monitor, that i´ve tested so far, is the MSI Optix MAG274QRX with the sharp panel, slighty above 1100:1 contrast ratio, very little backlight bleed, and no ghosting at all, but at brighter scenes, the Dell was the clear winner.
@@RyanYu btw. check out diablo immortal and walk to westmark town. It´s a mess with the dell, no real shadows, poor contrast, the whole picture looks geyish and milky. disgusting😀

But also why just comment something without having some sort of explanation or amplifying information on why it's not something. Dave is the real "noob" for not explaining himself
I don't understand the point after even 144 or 165 Hz panels. Anything above is overkill for %90 of gamers. CS GO and some other competitive titles is the only games that will RUN and actually benifits from over 165 Hz.
I run a decent machine with a 3080ti and a 1440p monitor that can run at 165 Hz but almost always adjust games to max out at 120 fps as running games in ultra/max will usually peak around 120 or so anyways. I would rather have a steady framerate locked at 120 then dip from 165 down and up... Or even 200bfps dip down to 120 fps for some scenes.
Nice monitor though, just hate seeing brands go over 240 or 280 Hz for marketing. It reminds me of phones/cameras selling points being 100 mega pxels or more. SUPER unnecessary for %90 of consumers

Have you watched Linus' video on the difference in refresh rate with pro gamers? It's not just marketing but it isn't for majority of gamers like you said. But with that said then why build a PC, just stick to console gaming at that point, it's a better price to performance than any pc built at $500. You'll get the resolution and you're limited to 120fps. I'm only saying this because people will want that competitive edge or just want the smoothest experience(mainly games that aren't so demanding) so most eSports titles like CSGO, Valorant, R6, and Rocket League.

@@xGEOxSDx I watch a LOT of LMG content for sure lol and yea I think I remember that one. I get that too. A ton of console games don't even support 120 fps at high quality settings or at all. Look at Gotham knights for instance. Max 3p fps on consoles lol 🤮 no thanks. Some games are stunning on a console and baffle me how they perform that well. BUT that's few and far between. Unless a game was built straight up for a certain architecture (ps5/Xbox) then it won't come close to the options and quality as a PC.
