- Chapel Hill Mall was a shopping mall located in Akron, Ohio, United States.[1] It was built by Richard "R.B." Buchholzer and Forest City Enterprises,[2] and opened in 1967. At its peak the mall featured more than 100 stores, with Sears, JCPenney, and Macy's as anchor tenants. In 2021, after several years of financial issues and ownership changes, the mall was purchased by Industrial Commercial Properties with the intent of turning it into a business park. Within a few months the mall was permanently closed.

@@recollectionmall yea it's been a while. Had a few minutes today but life has been busy sorry about that
On one hand, sad to see Malls going down down down. The other hand, repurposed/transformed in to business park districts....
Maybe someday, A second tier, condos/studios/penthouse apartments overlooking offices, cafe's, deli/ fruit/etc. There's the Galleria style version in Milan and Napoli.. .
That was back when Dick Goddard was the weatherman.

Boy, poor Akron. They’re like the poster child for American economic decay.
The O'Neil's/May Co didn't close...the just re-named/re-branded the store.
that's true but the store you knew as May Co/O'Neils is no longer that store.
