  • Hi....here we are with a video that's experimenting with TYVEK, fabrics and heat. I'm creating samples at the minute for a natural forms project I've started. This is another technique you can use...
    Hello I'm Sally an art and textiles teacher who set up my small teaching business @didsburyartstudio after leaving my full-time teaching job in a school in the UK. Since then I have been exploring my passion for art/textiles by building up a portfolio of new skills from courses I have been on and a recent Internship in Millinery. Currently, I supply teach in secondary schools, run textile workshops and work part-time in a hospital teaching art.

    Thank you for this video 👏🏻
    Maybe consider being safe and wearing a respirator there are toxic fumes coming from the heat and non organic fabrics, especially indoors✨

      Even when you ventilate, wear a mask please. Don't under estimate the worth of your health 🙏🏼

    That looked like steam from the iron? I have been using tyvec for eight years + and have only ever used a hot 'dry' iron as I was taught. A hint to help your fingers - cut the required fingers from a pair of insulated gloves from your hardware store to pop on your fingers. Also here in Australia I can buy tyvec from the hardware store where they have disposable overalls that are made of tyvec which can then be cut up obviously, to salvage good sized pieces. I also use a lot of metallic acrylic paints on my tyvec.

    Hello Sally, I love your channel and i've been getting a ton of inspiration from them. I love this technique but i am struggling to get ideas on where to apply this. It would be nice if at the end you would demo applications for it just as you did on the 3D applique video.

      Hi Christine thanks for watching! yes I will defo take this on board...usually this sort of textile techniques I would've used with GCSE or A-level included on a top or fine art piece or on mannequin.

    Hello Sally. I keep replaying the section from 1:00 where you're describing what sounds like "A dyed piece of *_vole_* fabric".🐹
    The CZcams transcript tells me you're saying _wool_ fabric, but it doesn't look like wool either! Can you let me know, please? It's so pretty, and I was wondering how I might go about recreating it myself. Thank you!

    What beautiful work. I was wondering if the fabric melts to the tyvek? For example could this be cut into pieces?

    • @didsburyartstudio
      @didsburyartstudio  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi there it would depend on what fabric you use for it to melt (synthetic is good) but yes you could cut it into pieces....thanks for watching.

    I’m a little confused. In your response to Kim you said you use 5 pieces of tyvek and 4 pieces of organza. However, in your demonstration it looks like you have have layered 2 pieces of organza and then1 piece of tyvek and then 2 pieces of organza. Would you please clarify? Loved your video. Thank you.

      Hi Gail sure thanks for your message. I can't actually see where I replied to Kim? but I've just checked the video again and I start with a beige polyester, a dyed voile fabric, tyvek and lastly two different coloured organzas! Hope that this helps anyway😊

    What type of ink are you using to paint on the tyvek? Does it have alcohol in it?
