  • I had too much fun with this dano 12 string. I could hardly put it down and I love it!

    Danelectro guitars and JHS kindly sent me this 12 string electric guitar to try out. You asked for a DC59X but I am sure you didn't expect it to be a 12.
    I have quickly fallen in love with the sound and great playability of this guitar and it has inspired me to write lots of new riffs and progressions, some of which I include here along with my original track 'Book 'em Dano!' which opens this video.
    Enjoy!!!!!
    Thanks for watching and take good care folks! You have but one life - live and enjoy it. Peace :o)

    I play weekly in an Oldies By Request band and travel with two guitars, an Epiphone Casino, and a Dean Boca 12 string. I use EHX B9 Organ and M9 Mellotron pedals on about 10% of the requested songs, and the 12 string gives a fuller sound to the organ, strings and choral sounds created by the pedals. Of course the 12 string is also great for Byrds, Beatles, Hollies, and other mid 60's sounds. And the Dean Boca 12 which get a lot of high capo settings is perfectly intonated and rarely goes out of tune.

    As you might know there was a time during the 1960's when Danelectros could be had for $25 right out of a swimming pool at 5&10 cent stores in the US. All I can say is they've come a long way. You nailed the late 60's, early 70's tone as if you'd been playing then. Good demo, good guitar!

  • @armenflintstone
    @armenflintstone Před 4 lety +1

    The obvious chorus/octave effect of a 12 string is always mesmerizing in finger style or arpeggios. The kewl thing about this is that you get the straight pickup sound rather than a acoustic pickup, meaning it’s all 12 strings going into the overdrive or distortion and nothing else...such a bright fuzzy sound. I feel like I need to play the byrds on the guitar...and I have one on order now...months away...as Tom petty said, “the waiting is the hardest part”

    Love your analysis of this guitar. I have a Rickenbacker 360/12 which sounds amazing, of course, but is so damn hard to play. The neck is too narrow for me (maybe a 360/6 would be ok, but that's not a 12). So i was happy to see this. Maybe the Danelectro would be easier for me to play. Chinaguitarsceptic Well you did an epic demo that really showed the sonic possibilities of this guitar especially with the tune you created to show it off at the intro, very late sixties early seventies Brit/California sound and I was sold on it right away, I owned and played an Eko Jumbo Ranger 5 12 string back in the late 70s which I still possess and this Danelectro has all the hallmarks of that iconic sound but electrified so what's not to like, I'm definitely going to look into trying one out very soon to see if I like the playability but as far as the sound is concerned it's a definite purchase. I have the older version of this guitar. It stays in tune like a dream guitar. If it goes out it's slight and I can get it back in a minute or so. I have not changed strings on it, I pay my guy to do this as I do on most of my guitars. But the strings have been on it over 3 years by now and they still have life. I'm well aware of tuning issues with the various 12's I've experienced. By the time you tune the last 3 pairs the first 3 pairs are way out of tune again? $3,000 dollars and unplayable!
