For anybody coming here from Andy's video/anyone else's video in the future talking about this thing:
They've tried to do some major damage control by threatening CZcamsrs with legal action who hadn't published their video yet, but I have a paper trail saying If they send me an Aeroguitar I have no obligations and can do whatever I want with it.
They can email me if they want, but it won't get them very far.
Update: I suspect Aeroband has started sending employees/bots to write positive comments under the videos
Funny, I have never watched a video from Andy, but the CZcams algos sent him my way tonight and that is the exact reason I am here watching your video. So with that said, thank you for your honest review and thank you for satisfying my curiosity after watching Andy's video.

This is what I can't get over. My ibanez starter kit cost me 250 euros for a probably janky guitar and a surprisingly decent little amp and some addones like a stand, a strap and such. Granted, I figured out way too late to pay a luthier 60 euros to check it through and sure, the neck was turned way out of whack and that's why it was almost unplayable at first, lol. And sure, there are people calling the guitar terrible, and I"m sure I'll grow out of it eventually, but it's a great learning guitar.

Purely on the capo feature, I didn't expect, as you seemed to, that it would so to speak put an invisible capo on a particular fret. I assumed it would just pitch shift the output, so you still have a full-length fretboard.
So then it's not a capo, it's just a different tuning.

There was a similar *looking* instrument from about 10 years ago called the YRG-1000, or "You Rock Guitar" and it didn't suck if you relied on fretboard presses instead of strumming.
Amazing video many thanks for saving people from wasting their money. We come to CZcams for advice and information and appreciate honesty!
The thing is, as someone who plays both keys and guitar, for me one of the benefit of guitar is precisely that you can can act on the strings in many other ways than plucking it (bending, palm muting, sliding,...). Keyboards can have similar functions with pitch bend wheels and various controls, but it's a completely different interface with its own pros and cons, and just not the same as guitar. My point is: if you really want a useful guitar controller, it needs to be able to do these functions well.
a keytar would do the same as this thing cheaper, better and with more versabilty
I'd rather have a keytar for those very reasons. And that's a different beast again.
Omg I remember when the Kickstarter launched because I saw ads plastered online. Wow, it’s worse than I suspected. Even as a toy, it’s embarrassing - Fisher Price makes more responsive guitar toys. Also, the early bird crowdfunding price seemed criminal for what they were demonstrating and claiming.
Also, there are still lots of options for disabled people that won’t frustrate them. Nylon strings are often a great choice. Or even metal strings that are 7’s or 8’s.
I agree. If you want midi with an actually functional guitar, get a Jamstik Studio. If you want to learn, get any other real guitar.
Your assessment is far too generous, oh wise one. They made it, and that’s on them, as you said. You tried to stop them from sending you one. That’s on them too. Boy, not too bright over there in Aero land. And btw, they also make supposed smart drum sticks. They didn’t beg to send you those to review too?!
Thanks for warning the masses to avoid this crap.
Yeah I’ve seen ads on instagram and I immediately said what a piece of shit. And that was before I knew what it actually sounds like😂 like the top comment said it he really does have that songster tone
As someone who’s been playing nylon for about as long as I’ve been playing electric guitars, I wouldn’t advise nylon string guitars as a means for someone with a physical impairment to play the guitar. In theory they should be easier to play, but classical guitars have dead flat fingerboards and usually high action (“normal” classical action on a good playing instrument is very high by acoustic or electric standards; now *cheap* classicals are just within slide territory).
You see, nylon strings vibrate more than metal ones, and classical players mostly focus on the first frets. The tonal clarity, sustain and resonance from higher action are more important than comfort; on the flip side, flamenco involves faster playing that is much too hard to execute with such high action, the resulting buzz being embraced as part of the sound.
IMO, if you suffer from a disability that affects your ability to play the guitar, just get a well built normal guitar, and have it set up for light gauge strings (8s for instance) and action as low as possible. The guitar just needs to be well built enough so that the neck stays straight and the frets can be levelled by a competent luthier, no need for expensive gear - a used Ibanez, Yamaha Pacifica or a mid tier Harley Benton (a first gen Fusion can be bought for crazy cheap) can do. The cost of a fret job and a good setup is the best money a beginner can spend.
😊
This isn’t a new idea. I’ve seen this exact concept on a guitar hero controller. Same silicone frets and strings, same slack nylon strummy strings to give the illusion of playing real strings. Brutal honesty! Great video! Just wish you’d get off the fence and tell us how you really feel! 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for an honest review. Just watched a video by someone called Andy who refused to name this company even though he was aware this product was rubbish.
I LOVE awful reviews! Brilliant. People need to tell it how it is. You very rarely get a review this honest and clear. Thanks! Loved every second.
It's actually a good product when applied properly by someone that knows what it was designed for and how to showcase it.
This just demonstrates this guys (i.e sixstringstv) inept and tunnel vision.
I have arthritis and wouldn’t touch this piece of crap.
Love the push back. They truly don’t understand who they are messing with by trying to intimidate guitar influencers.
i can't tell you how many times I've seen things like this come and go, after 50 years in music retail.
it sounds like the guitar setting on certain keyboards
You can get, like, a genuinely pretty good *actual* guitar for that price. And by the looks of it, it would be substantially less frustrating to play too
I was thinking even one of those Harley Benton ST-20 for around €100 will do just fine and then use the rest of the cash for actual lessons, from a real teacher. Guaranteed, the results will be far and away greater than whatever you can achieve with this thing.
I bought my Spanish guitar for 32 dollars (I live in Vietnam btw), and for what its worth, sitting in stock for who knows how long, it plays, sounds and feels very good, just that the action is a bit high (cheap guitars)
You kidding?! You can get an incredibly good/more than acceptable actual guitar for that price! I’ve only ever owned one guitar that was about $1,000 smackaroos. The rest have all been in that 300-500 range. And anytime I’ve felt dissatisfied with my time playing it was RARELY ever because of the guitar…
The first thing I thought; a decent Squire or Epiphone.
"If you're feeling pain when playing guitary this is the guitar for you" (advertising line) bro what the fuck, if you're feeling pain, you're not playing enough...
appreciate the honesty. good job!
I’ve already seen this concept, in 2010 when I was starting my guitar journey. It was the “You rock”: six fake strings to strum, and a fretboard that’s basically a touch strip with silicone strings glued to it.
Exactly the same product in a different shape. I actually still own a YouRock Guitar and it’s just as useful as this video shows. But I got it for maybe $100, and it was signed by Tom Morello.
I've got one, same construction with removable neck. They didn't even come up with an original design.

I remember seeing the Kickstarter for this when it was first announced. I thought it looked cool and also had potential to be cool. I "almost" bought into it but I decided not to and broke out my old guitar and played that for a bit to realize that I still suck at guitar which made me buy a bass last year to learn how to play that instead. :P I pretty much forgot about this thing until I saw your video thumbnail today. LOL! I am glad I didn't buy into this thing. I still think it looks cool (like a futuristic guitar from a sci-fi show) but that's about it.

The Starr Labs Ztar also exists as a MIDI controller. It's pretty cool.
I think it's potentially awesome. If they renamed it "The Commodore" and changed the colour from black to beige and dark brown, they'd be on to something with us Gen Xers
As a learning aid I kinda expected to see the frets light up for scales and chords and such.
Yes, before I realised ithat this thing is a really quite poor guitar controller (compared to, say, 1980s guitar controllers?) as opposed to some kind of teaching or learning aid, I did wonder if there would be LEDs in the "fretboard" but no, just down the edge of the neck. So, even _that_ aspect of it could have been done better!
"fretlight guitar" a past failed guitar!
Especially for the price
I was looking up strandberg and the first thing that popped up instead was an ad for the aeroband guitar. Had to look it up. The nerve of their advertising 😂
Thank you for a great and honest review. Great video!
Can't play guitar? Pay us 459.00 and we'll help ensure you never will.
If you're new at guitar, what really helped me with the strings being gritty is changing the draco ones on the electric to Elixir™ strings. they are coated with some kind of plastic so when you put your finger on them or slide they don't bite into your finger. note that it will still cut you on higher strings but it feels a lot better than uncoated ones and they usually last for 4-6 months on me before breaking. they keep the tone pretty well too.
That’s pretty cool !! Personally what I found helpful was to just play the damn instrument and grow the callouses.
Always go with Ernie Ball. Instead of months, talk years. You can even cook them in boiling water after five years and they'll sound like virtually new. Pay a bit more, end up spending less.
Can someone please tell me what the clean part played at 2:03 is? thanks
From watching other videos of this things, I'm guessing the capo works by lighting up the LED to the capo position and it raises the pitch of the strings a half step each fret position so if you have the LED on the 3rd fret, playing an open string G chord in the regular position will be a Bb. Just a guess.
Good to see there is still honest people on CZcams 👏👏👏
So the people who are saying it's perfectly fine for the intended use are liars? 🙄
@@kadiummusic yes👍 It's clearly useless as anything other than a very expensive toy and if you watch the videos it's not even very good in game "mode" 🙄🤣

it won't be. I know the business, the tech and the scams. That isn't going to happen with any "synthetic" guitar. These ideas have failed from the early days. Yes, a couple people use them.. with a couple sounds, llike pat metheny, but in general, it is gonna be a no for the next few decades. .. if even then. Sad thing is, there is tech to do it a lot better for pros and beginners. Same with the crappy electronic drums. They almost are over a hump... not quite..
damn thanks for showing this product, have a relative with a muscle weakness disease and if this requires very little force to play that would be great for those cases. Hopefully next iterations or future products develop this idea more.
Could go very light gauge strings, thin neck and very low action would could help
A well set up classical guitar 3/4 scale would be an option
@MexiNorge - completely agree except for the incredibly stupid price. Criminal price for..........
How about giving that relative a student-guitar and telling him about Django Reinhardt? That should be very inspiring for them.
Hey bro you were just starting to get that thing to sing! It probably just needs a setup and a sick set of humbuckers!! Greetings from New Mexico!
Reminds me of the old Casio DG series which had the same kind of string setup...from the early 1980s (at least that worked decently and had many more features).
that is true!
Reminds me of my You Rock midi guitar... which is 13 years old as of now and I bought used from a friend for less than 100$.
I use it only for jamming around and songwriting with my synth plugins as I don't like keyboards, I don't even program midi with it and I'd never recommend someone to buy it as a gateway guitar or whatever Aeroband tries to market it as.
So that means Aeroband is just selling you almost 15 year old technology for more expensive than a Fishman Triple Play that you can install on your own guitar.
At least with the You Rock I can also play Guitar Hero :D
I got the same yourock guitar for 100$ and I use it for practicing, testing new sounds, record simple midi mélodies and the most amazing thing is writing on guitar pro detecting which fret and strings you play, also the TAP function would work well for some modern players, so yeah, they are selling you an even worse technology for five times the price 😂
@@mg2318 I use the tap function whenever I use an instrument like brass or wind!
And bro even that Casio guitar from the 80s you see Ichika play sometimes is more advanced than that Aeroguitar lol

I remember when I was a small child my family got me a starter guitar at target. It had a full wood body, neck, and fretboard. It had outputs for an amp and even had a built in speaker (loud) that was powered by a battery. It was hefty and you could pitch bend some strings on it. I think it may have been First Act branded. At the time it was way under 100 USD maybe even under 50...... That was 100 times better than this plastic 450 USD thing.
So in the 80s, there was a thing called a Suzuki Unisynth. It was almost exactly the same thing, except it actually had raised strings/frets on the touch strip fretboard, and... also had a unique sound to it. No clue what it cost new, but the thing is... it was new tech back in the 80s. This thing is NOT new tech. It's already almost 40 years out of date.
You should get a PaperJamz Guitar and compare it with this
Every time I see a JCM 800 I want to cry. I had my JCM 800 50 watt lead series head, as well as my Marshall 4X12 slant cabinet and my Japanese Jackson Soloist stolen from my home a few years back, and I've never been able to replace them. It STILL to this day breaks my heart as if it happened yesterday. I was actually a pretty decent metal guitarist, and it feels like I had all of that stolen from me. Of course life and kids gets take priority, so money is always needed for "more important" things. I've managed to acquire a Schecter Diamond Series C-1+ and a little desktop practice amp, but I just cant do what I used to with this stuff, or even what I want to do. I'd love more than anything to start up another metal cover band, even if we never leave the garage, if for no other reason than to have a little fun while showing my teenage son that is dad isn't a TOTAL nerd. Unfortunately I can't even do that now because I no longer have my rig. GOD I miss my amp!
Just get an Orange combo-amp. Stop crying. Be happy!!
@@Bukkie661 Any way you slice it, an Orange am is NOT a JCM800. Not even close, and never will be. NOTHING comes close to the sound a JCM800 produces. There's a guitar hero or Rock band guitar with a similar set up, but instead of strips of silicone, every fret has a button. It's... not comfortable to play, but at least you get precise fretting
I remember Casio had a similar product in the '80s which was a little better than this, you could fret the strings but I think it had sensors under the fretboard, it had synth sounds as well as guitar sounds, If I remember correctly is was a toy trying to be a serious instrument, a quick search revealed it to be a DG-10 and DG-20.
I picked up a Roland GR-707 and Casio DG-20 at a garage sale 10-12 years ago for $200. They were worth about exactly that.

Literally just saw an ad for this on IG, opened CZcams, and see this video immediately. I'm glad to see someone shitting on this product, it's much deserved.
Literally the only application I could see for this sort of thing is maybe as a midi controller for guitar players. But at that point, I'd rather get one of those Jamstik guitars, and have an actual functional guitar along with it for a bit extra. What a joke
it's even less precise for MIDI tracking than it is for regular "playing", absolutely not
@@sixstringtv1yep, just hit that part of the video right after I posted my comment. I figured that there'd be at least SOME practical application for this thing. I'm legitimately scratching my head at who funded this thing
Man I didn't know they continued making the Rockband 3 Pro Guitar!
Yamaha used to make one like this that they sold at sharper image, except it had fret buttons and was tight. It was mainly designed to guitar players could play midi, also it was like $229
That's it! I'm gonna put out a book called "Learn guitar in only 30 short years!"
I bought my Jackson JS32 model Randy Rhoads for less than the price of that thing and mine came with a Floyd Rose!
When you don't get the payment in time🤣
I have terrible wrist pains, and i got a nylon string guitar and had the luthier lower the action to the minimum
It's good to see an honest review - it's unfortunate that the product is so terrible, but the video is entertaining so I suppose that's something. I've subscribed because...this video made me smile.
You win some and you lose some...
Granted, I've not lost anything in this case, but Aeroband sure has
I don't think there's a bad Walrus Audio pedal, bought quite a few over the years and love all of them.
"So it fits in the bin easier" hahahahahaha love it 🙂
It’s virtually identical to the Yamaha one I have from the 90s… except with silicon rather than buttons. The sounds are the same too… at least mine has songs you can learn with light up buttons. And it has drums. Tragic, tragic drums. Still fun to play piano on it.
