Have you been looking for a reasonably priced 12-string electric guitar to round out your collection? If so, you need to check out the Eastwood Classic 12. In this video I do a quick, but thorough review including showing off the broad array of sounds the guitar can get. The Eastwood Classic 12 is a seriously versatile guitar. You can get the vintage Rickenbacker sound as well as the heavier sounds of a Fender XII or a Gibson ES-1275. The guitar also offers many unique original tones to inspire your creativity.
The video opens with a dramatic unboxing unlike anything you've ever seen. After the guitar is set free, I go over the specs, feel, set up, and playability. In the second half I crank up 12 of your favorite classic 12 string songs including Mr Tambourine Man, Traveling Riverside Blues, Wanted Dead or Alive, The Song Remains the Same, as well as songs by XTC, The Hollies, and of course, the Beatles. FREE TABS for all songs are available upon request at markaranalli@gmail.com.
If you've read this far, please consider subscribing to the channel (and hitting the all notifications thing too would be even better:). Every little bit helps and I really do appreciate your time.

Great sounds! And a great review; you let the guitar speak for itself instead of giving an exhaustive description of every component with a few seconds of playing at the end of the video, like too many YT reviews I've seen. I will definitely consider this guitar for a 12-string electric for my arsenal.

I actually asked if they'd send me one of those to review. I'm sure he gets a lot of requests. A channel with 24k subs doesn't always get me a yes. Once Michael sees how loyal my channel viewers are, I think he'll send me a couple more. I wouldn't be surprised if he sells 50 guitars between now and Christmas from this video. Probably more. He seems like a really nice guy so I'm happy to do it.

What a find. Great guitar Mark. Eastwood have been on my radar for some time, though not for a 12. I have searched for a H77 model 6 string to the point of exhaustion. I located a used one in Japan only to see it scooped by another buyer while I was getting my CC out. Eastwood had released the model with different designations over a period of time, marketing it as Eastwood H77, Eastwood H77 H78, and Harmony H77. All these were vintage designations, and I believed they were only available in the used market. After your tip off about their website, I rushed to it and found the exact model I had searched for, available new as an Airline H78. It has the busiest deck in the music biz, with 3 individually switchable single coils, hooked to three switches on the lower horn, and 6 (count 'em!) tone and volume knobs. Also equipped with a Bigsby trem. I'll be as busy as a one armed fiddler. As I hadn't been able to locate a 3 PU 6 string guitar at a budget price, I eventually settled for a Gretsch G2627T in the used market. I'm happy with the purchase and scooped it for US$420 after some spirited negotiations. Now however, after finding exactly what I was looking for, I've picked one from the 3 available colors, and will sit back and wait for it to arrive. Sell the Gretsch? No way Jose! It is a beautiful instrument in its own right. Buy one of these 12s? Well, having bought a new D'Angelico 12 in September last year, (the Turquoise thing in my avatar) and a new Hagstrom Viking 12 eight weeks ago, I might have to wait a while. The vortex has been especially strong this year. They should publish warnings about it like they do for El Nino events. LOL! I emailed Hagstrom about your channel and suggested they send you a demo model Viking 12 for a review. Hope you don't mind, but you're the only person on ytube doing specialist 12 string reviews.

Hey man. I just got back from NAMM myself. I got to play some nice guitars. Riversong, a few other boutique acoustic makers and a couple of beautiful high end 12 strings. I don't understand why other companies are thinking about reversing the strings a la Rickenbacker. If you're a strict fingerstyle player it absolutely makes sense to reverse the third string pairs. The reality is most people play the 12 string for the big sound and our strummers if that's the case those reverse strings are just gonna make it sound that much more like a six string. Anyway I don't know how I got off on that tangent. Yeah the Eastwood is a great guitar and Michael the owner of the company is a first rate guy. Thanks so much for checking out the video. I really appreciate your time and comment. Have a great weekend. Please take care and be well. mark

Love Eastwood. Bought a Rockerbox DLX LTD a couple years ago. Perfect out of the hardshell case.
After playing it 2 years, it is my go to to this day for overall best versatility, tone range, high output and play ability. It has same scale as Gibson s I have played forever. All my muscle memory fits perfectly.
But stock setups on most semi-hollows usually have some things missing that I like. If there is more than one pickup with individual volume controls, I FIX that with a Gretsch-style master volume with treble bleed on the lower horn. Have done it so far on the 3 PUP Rockerbox (3 volume, one tone, a pain in the butt to manage balance reliably and quickly and a D'Angelico DC Premeir 12 string. with dual Seymour-Duncans that also got new CTS pots and Orange Drop caps.) I also replace ALL jacks on EVERYTHING with TruTone jacks, most reliable made. I have no fear of mods and to a real player they add value to a transaction if done correctly. Otherwise you are buying the instrument just as a cool place to store some cash. Great if that is your goal. I want them to PLAY the best possible for ME.
Having done those mods, my Eastwood Rockerbox is the best playing electric I have ever owned or played. For many years I lusted for a Gibson 335. This one ended that lust.

Hey James. I feel the same way you do. In about 10 videos I've called the electric 12 'an incredibly niche' guitar. That is a nice 12-string guitar. It sounded good through all the classic 12-string riffs we're familiar with that you played. To my ears, on one chordal thing that you played, it's tone soared. Great to hear that it's fretboard string spacing felt comfortable too, as that is a prevalent issue with a lot of of otherwise good electric 12-strings!

In 3 years, 4 have asked to be removed. I make it a point to engage with people rather than "thanks dude". While I have been toying with the idea of monetizing (to date I've given over $10k of ad revenue to St Judes and Shriners) by starting a patreon, I have yet to ask for a single penny from anybody for anything (tabs, mini lessons, full curriculums, countless phone convos). My email is markaranalli@gmail.com. the only danger of emailing me is that if we exchange more than 5 replies, I may add you to the manual list of people that I send out weekly emails about the days video and hold extra contests for those in my inner circle. I have no special PDF with the key to learning guitar in a week, and I have more people on my privates wait list than I do on my list. 👍🏻 I found a used one that was in pretty good condition in their "Fireburst" finish. (I'm still confused with the large knob ...it just doesn't seem to work like "tone controls" that I'm used to.) I played this and the Harley Benton RB612 CS side by side. (I didn't compensate for the smaller body at first and was strumming much closer to the neck on the H.B. causing it to sound a little bassier). Recording with each guitar was great, and while I like some things on the H.B. a little better... I kept the Eastwood Classic 12. A little nicer overall guitar in fit & finish with slightly better sound. I'm now a happy 12 Stringer! Thanks for your videos. They were a help when I was considering the two.

While I tend to agree with them that watching someone unbox a guitar borders on the ridiculous, I feel like they could just fast forward. That's what I do. Thanks again for always supporting. Dude, I’m a huge 12 string fan, but the only pure electric 12 string I own is an Epiphone double neck. It’s actually a great guitar, but the weight is prohibitive to the amount of time I actually play it.
I’ve been thinking pretty seriously about getting an electric 12 string recently. I typically buy a guitar every year on my birthday which is in March. This may be the one.

Hey Brian. I bought a guitar two years ago for my birthday and my wife bought me a nice gypsy jazz nylon for my 50th this year. I think that's an excellent tradition to continue. Thanks for the inspiration! LOL. I've been trying to acquire a reasonably priced double neck (really just for the fact that I think they will look really cool in videos). They discontinued the Epiphone 1275 replica, or at least none of the major online retailers have it anymore. The Harley Benton is out of stock for the next 4 months and I don't really want to take the risk of buying a random one off knock off from reverb. Let me know what you end up deciding to get. If you have a video of you playing the Epi, please send it to me. markaranalli@gmail.com. Thanks so much for checking out the video. I appreciate your time and comment. Take care. Mark

Wow! I've been looking at a lot of 12 strings lately, both electric and acoustic, and I have to say, for this price range for electric, the Classic 12 sounds the best.
Most recently, I've been focused on the Danelectro 12, and for the money and playability it sounds pretty darn good. I am a bit hesitant because the bridge setting sounds pretty bright on most of the demos I've listened to.
This one sounds as close to a Ric from all the comparison demos I've listened to, and your playing and choice of songs checks ALL of my boxes.
The body looks pretty large, I'm a smaller gentleman around 5'7", would that be a problem? also how is the weight?(8lbs listed on their site), I would be sitting down.
One more question, how is the action? low enough for these old fingers?
I love your comments, and how you've donated income from the channel to good causes.
Great video, thank you so much Mark.

I just received the Harley Benton I ordered and overall I was happy with the fit and finish, tone, etc. , especially for the price. However the G strings seemed difficult to get in tune …. before buying I had read that changing strings on these is crazy hard… with only 6 slots for 12 strings, each pair of strings having to share one hole in the tailpiece …. so I also bought a WD 12 string trapeze tailpiece with 12 slots for less than $30, it cost$37.84 with shipping… The 12 slot tailpiece fit on the existing trapeze and I was able to restring the guitar with the original strings because I’m cheap lol…. it worked! Something about not having to share a hole solved the G string problem… so I highly recommend to all purchasers of this guitar, spend the extra 30 bucks and you won’t have restringing problems, and if you’re having tuning issues maybe that will help as well. GREAT review, great playing BTW… but there IS another review worth watching… on “Jon is just TOO loudD“ CZcams channel.

I was torn between the Harley Benton and the Eastwood and went with the Eastwood based on video reviews like yours, the Eastwood's Gretsch-like looks, and color choice (mine is white with gold hardware). Like you, I found the fit & finish to be very well done and the sound to have the correct amount of jangle for the Byrds & the Beatles (which is what I mainly play on it).

Hey Jeff. I sent you an email yesterday. Thanks again for the support. I really appreciate your time and comments. I own a Takamine GJ-72 and I love it. It's not the easiest guitar to play (it's a jumbo and I'm not a big guy) but the sound and looks are unparalleled at the price point. I also had a Mitchell. I would say the Mitchell was the easiest 12 string to play of any acoustic 12 I've ever had. The string sets are cut really close together and I prefer that being somewhat of an experienced 12 string player. It's funny, when you mentioned Art and Luthrie I was thinking of Huss and Dalton. LOL. I was going to say, I'd have to take a second mortgage out to buy one of those! Never played an A and L. How about you? Shoot me an email when you have time. Have a great day and take care. I think it'd one of many, many examples of just how good automation and quality control have gotten in China. The only difference between a high and low end guitar these days is the materials (perhaps a bit of an overstatement but honestly all of the inexpensive guitars I own, the Harley Bentons, OLP, Epi 339 all stay in tune ans play well. The pickups on the Eastwood really do a nice job capturing the jangle. I know that wasn't a direct answer but that's the best I can do. Have a great day and take care. Mark

So, I’m looking at the actual “Gretsch” 12 string. It has a slightly narrower neck at the nut and sports gold hardware and “Black top ‘Filter Tron” pickups (not sure of the specs). All other materials and specs seem the same. It’s only $200 more than this copy. I know 200 bucks is a lot if you don’t have it, but it seems like a “copy” should come in at a substantially lower price. It would be very interesting to see a comparison video between the two.
