    I have two of the white one’s. One is for backhaul and my gamer boys upstairs are hardwire connection and have no latency issues with a pure gigabit connection. Any thoughts if this can work good with one of the old one’s used as a backhaul? Have you tried it? Hardwire if the way to go for gaming from what I assume. The TV’s upstairs do connect to the mesh points on the old HD white one’s so those seem good enough for streaming movies.

    The Amplifi HD is available as a router-only device and you can add as many optional mesh points as required. Is there a reason the gamer edition is only available as a 2-mesh point bundle and not also a router-only or even a 1 x mesh point option?

    Mate that was absolutely awesome. First video on any grounds answered my questions. I have few questions and would consider your suggestion. Im not a gamer absolutely not. I own a shield for my movies, Atmos and HDR capability. right now I use a Asus RT5300 and range extenders (4) and not happy with it. it keeps failing to extend the network. Though it has AiMesh, the extenders do not. so before I buy the Asus LYRA I want to know can this be a future proof. I don't mind paying extra, I need the one which will last for the future. Download speed "Netflix and prime video" is high priority.

    • @FXRG1013
      @FXRG1013 Před 4 lety

      Depends on your base service provider. If you have 300, you should get at least 100mbp to the device. I have 1gb connection and get around 500 to my devices. If you throttle it with the latency limiter, it will push a solid 100mbs from what he is explaining, or open it if you are downloading things.

    I have Netgear Orbi RBR50 (the whole thing) and want to know how is this compared to that gaming edition? Would love to hear from someone who owns the same thing I have. :)

    • @josevalenzuela3680
      @josevalenzuela3680 Před 4 lety

      I also have the Orbi (RBK53, 1 router and 3 satellites) but because of how thick my walls are, plus the wife approved placement of the router, I have real issues with latency in my man cave. Will this be better than 1 RBR50 plus 3 RBS50? Taking into account that the router is on one corner of the first floor and my man cave on the other corner of the house on the second floor, roughly 7,000 Sq feet, all brick and mortar.

    • @josevalenzuela3680
      @josevalenzuela3680 Před 4 lety

      From what I can see, apparently we have it better because of the MU-MIMO option that this system apparently lacks. I guess I'm going to end up setting up the router at a "wife-unapproved" location and take my chances. Plus, with the cost I have already paid for the Orbi system, it won't be easy to justify dumping an extra 400 dollars for a new system.

      If you need mesh points, I honestly don’t know. I was split between this and the Ubiquiti Dream Machine. I felt like I wouldn’t use the really deep options of the UDM and I get mesh points with the Alien for almost the same price. Personally went with the Alien, still waiting on it to arrive.

    • @metagamers
      @metagamers  Před 4 lety

      Teleport is built in now. For mesh the gamers edition is a more affordable option but if you need WiFi 6 for future proofing the Alien is worth a look. Power wise the Alien is better and you will potentially see strong signal strength but again it’s a matter of how much you want to spend. Finally keep in mind mesh mode on the Alien currently has issues, it will be fixed in firmware hopefully soon.

    • @metagamers
      @metagamers  Před 5 lety

      No - the mesh points ONLY plug into the wall and have NO Ethernet ports. The only way to use backhaul is to buy another AmpliFi Router (not in a kit) and use it that way.
