I am a part of several Viking Facebook groups, and I constantly see people getting upset/frustrated about all of the reservation time slots being booked up or that the only remaining time slots are 8:00 or later. You have covered this in another video, but a lot of people don't seem to realize that they only release about 35% of those time slots for booking on My Viking Journey. Also they don't seem to release the menu's for the Chef's Table when you book your reservations online, so you have no clue which menu you are choosing. When I selected mine for my last cruise, we had selected the Chinese menu which we had already done on a previous cruise. We simply walked up to the hostess at the Chef's Table on embarkation day, looked at the menu's, and changed our reservation to a different day.
Lobster is usually in the Restaurant and that does not require reservations.
So excited about our first Viking cruise
Thanks!
We are going on our Viking Australia and Indonesia cruise a year from today. We are super excited!
Yep - Bangkok, Bali & Beyond in November this year 🎉🎉
@danielldraper11-7 this trip is going to be amazing! I love Bali and have a great friend who is still there if you need any tips please let me know.
My wife and I are going on our first Viking cruise the 6th of November. This is our 4th cruise and are looking forward to seeing a different part of the world. In the past we have cruised to Belize and the Caribbean plus an Alaskan cruise. These were not cruises with the quality of care of a Viking cruise but we did have fun! Looking forward to exploring the Mediterranean! We have also booked a river cruise in 2025 starting in Amsterdam and ending in Budapest! Be tuning into this channel for tips and information so keep them coming!!😅
We have one booked for march/April 2024 - first one - can’t wait!
Have you already gone on your cruise? Which ship?
I have a "Rhine Getaway" cruise planned/booked w/ girlfriends and now I am researching a Viking ocean cruise with my husband in the Mediterranean. Super excited for both cruises!
I have a Viking cruise planned for Dec, that goes through the Panama Canal.
We have one booked for early February. Greece, Turkey, Sicily and Italy.
We are experienced Viking cruisers. Knew about Chef’s Table. Didn’t think about asking for a box lunch, so thanks for that. Also didn’t realize you could ask when lobster night is. Good to know. Another tip is related to Chef’s Table. Once on board, you can check the menu on your TV. Then you can make reservations on your TV, as many as you want. I mention it because you can also go down to Chef’s Table to make reservations, but they will only let you make a couple cause they want to give others an opportunity. But if you go on your TV, you can make as many as you want.
I doing a trans Atlantic next year looking forward to it. .
Going on a 12 day West indies Caribbean cruise for Christmas this year.
I went on one celebrity cruise to the Caribbean and I had a nice time. I’m considering going on a Viking cruise around Europe.
The fire stick tip🔥🔥🔥🔥
Except the Wi-Fi in general is terrible! Getting a strong enough signal to stream would be a minor miracle.
Again, well done! My husband and I first went to China with Viking on a river cruise. It was fantastic! Then Russia. Then Slovakia. Soon we'll be on our first ocean cruise, so this video was very helpful. Thank you!
Amazing trips. I haven’t made it to China yet but which destination was your favorite ?
@@teleastafford I'd have to say China just because it was so very different. That was a long time ago (2005) & relations with China were good. I wouldn't go now.
We re planning the Italy Sojourn next April.
Yay! I didn’t really know anything about Viking except my sister in law enjoyed her trips with them before booking 😂 We are going on the Mediterranean cruise March 2024. Thanks for the tips!!
We booked the Mediterranean Odyssey for Sept/Oct....any suggestions on excursions that you really enjoyed?
Wish you could link your great suggestions here - like the fan! Where can we find that?
Hi @genawilder6632. Thanks!! I added them in the description now that you mentioned that great idea!! Also you can see the two items right below I provided you the links!

We have one booked for June down the Danube River. Second one for us.
Making notes, right now. Thank you, for taking the time to inform all of us and sharing your tips. ps, went to Prague with Viking. If I can help you, let me know
thank you!
We are going to Sydney and New Zeland Jan 2024. We got the last Stateroom as we booked less that 57 days out. Yep! Last minute. My husband said," If we don't spend it, our kids will". So we are spending it! Great reviews about Viking, so we are really looking forward to this trip! We have been on many cruises, but this is our first Viking. Unfortunately all the reservations were gone in the restaurants and excursions. So it will be interesting to see how this trip plays out. Thank you for the tips. We will put them to good use!
Trip planned in May of this year on Viking Sea into the Mediterranean. Been on a River Cruise in Germany, Switzerland, France
We've been on several ocean cruises and have reservations for one 2025. As for reservations, we've discovered that if we check first thing on the Chefs Table menu, then we go straight to our room and make reservations, never had an issue getting what we want.
I have a trip planned with Viking for July 2024 - Mediterranean Cruise!
Get ready for great food! Any special occassion?
@@teleastafford No - just a sisters trip for fun,
Just booked for Viking Homeland Cruise in June 2026 from Bergen to Stockholm! Our 40th anniversary is in April but thought it would be too cold then. Went on our first Viking cruise which was fabulous! It was from Venice to Istanbul in 2016.
Great tips! I only heard about Lobster night after I returned from my March Viking trip…Grrrr…I will definitely ask on my next one, summer 2024. I did ask for a firmer pillow, which was brought right away. I think the room steward will try to do anything you want, mine was terrific!
awwww.... never will happen again, I bet! yes it is always great to get a customized experience... all you have to do is ask, some people don't know you can!
Will be going on our first Viking Cruise in 1 month!! The British Isles cruise with the Oslo extension.
It’s almost time for your cruise! Any last minute questions?
I'm really surprised you were able to hook up chrome cast. I understood the TVs did not have a USB port....
Have trip booked
British Isles Explorer Cruise at the end of May!
We have a trip planned.
Booked ‘into the midnight sun’ 6/25-/7/10 multiple climates same trip. How to handle warm weather to colder weather.. packing?
Hi Judy! I absolutely recommend layers that for me includes black leggings and long sleeve black cotton shirt I love that combo because it is so easy to slip a windbreaker or Shacket on top to warm it up or take off the jacket. I love Columbia pull over wind breakers that have pockets with zippers and hood for rain.

Leave for Hawaii Dec 12 for 17 days on Viking Star. Interesting report.
I will wave to you as I disembark. We are doing the 32 day Hawaii and French Polynesia from LA leaving November 10, 2023 and returning December 12.
Going on Caribbean cruise early in new year.
Very nice! How long of a trip? What cruise line
@@teleastafford 14 days, Viking.
Chefs table menu changes every three days, you’re better to book it onboard so you can see the menu before you book. I’ve never been onboard for a scallop night, and we’ve cruised many times on Viking oceans.
We have the grand European tour in June of 2025!
Coastal Panama cruise
Greece to Istanbul in June 2024!
I am leaving for my second Viking ocean cruise on November 10, 2023. I’ve watched dozens of videos on Viking and you have the best tips, hands down. Thank you and I hope your channel grows quickly.

That sounds amazing! Any special occasion?
You're going to love Norway!
Alaska August 2024!
I love Alaska - what are you looking forward to the most?
Going on Mars. May 1st
9:04 I believe that is against the Viking policy.
I’ll check on your comment and update if needed thx!
It would add more value if you gave examples of the geographically themed nature of the Chefs Table menus eg Asian, Mexican, Italian, French, English etc
I am posting a video on food soon for Viking and yes will talk about how the cuisine that matches the port
Emerald Rhine trip in 2025
We just booked an Alaskan cruise on Viking for 2025

quit fooling with your hair.
Your 5+ tips are excellent - took 12 minutes to say 3 minutes worth of suggestions.
@@jimholstein4595 thanks for the comments gotcha! - women’s hair is a journey can’t promise lol
👋🏻Excellent advice/hacks!! Seasoned cruisers yet our 1st Viking/Ocean experience is in May ‘24. Our dining booking window opened and I was READY to book and … website was DOWN!😩 I called Customer Service and was wonderfully assisted with our multiple reservations - grateful!! FireStick for TV in room - did not think there would be a receiving plug on in room TV.👌🏻However, was WiFi decent or do you recommend downloading faves? How did you find the bed? @teleastaffordjackson I’ve heard they’re hard and don’t carry egg crates but extra “comforters” for padding?😳 Person standing in hallway to assist - great advice! Thank you!!
Thanks!
Appreciate your support!
