All port talks are recorded. If you can't or don't want to attend the live port talk, you can always watch the recording later in the day. I've done that on both of my Viking cruises so I didn't have to deal with schedule conflicts.

Thanks for stating the port talks are recorded; this is our first OCEAN cruise with Viking; we've done 4 river cruises & loved them.

"What do you do for a living". Arg. My pal and I kept getting asked. She's retired & I'm still working. It seemed to us that the Americans we met needed to be able to put us in a "category". They did everything but ask if we were a couple. Once they had put you into your little pigeon hole they rarely spoke to us. It seemed they as couples weren't happy with the idea of two women travelling together. It was totally like "how do you Canadians afford this cruise?". We actually wanted to go AMA but they were booked up, lol

Sooooo true. We’re the only group that leads with what you do. I prefer what do you enjoy doing for fun. Who cares about what you do for work lol

All port talks are in your room on t.v. if you miss them.

Haha - as a huge Viking fan I was a little put off by this topic but I ended up agreeing with you 100%!!! I'm with you on wanting to sleep-in on vacation! Getting up early and going all day can be exhausting! I love to do as many excursions as possible because why travel to all those wonderful places if I'm not going to get off the ship and sight see? And the problem with Viking is that the ships are so beautiful and that spa is amazing. I'm always torn between what to do - explore or relax on that gorgeous ship! I agree on your room service recommendations. Agree on your competition points - I think you chose Lobster. I would have chosen lobster. I mean, how often do I really have the opportunity to have a lobster dinner? I can google the port, although I do love the port talks. Regarding diversity - wish you had been on my cruise. We would have been friends and I would have enjoyed talking with you or meeting for dinner with you and your husband. (67 year old Angeleno - but I feel about 45)

We booked our excursions in advance of our cruise. That way we got the times we wanted.

All good points! A funny thing, we went to all the port talks and history lectures, which were very interesting. We missed the lobster dinner completely, maybe that’s why 🤣 Didn’t even know about it! On my next Viking cruise I will remedy that because I love lobster!

We always ask people about their lives and work experience. Many of the people were retired, like we are. However, it’s always nice to know peoples experiences and backgrounds.

I am a subscriber and love your honest information. We were on the fence about Viking until I watched your videos. We went on an In search of the Northern lights cruise this year in Feb & March. I agree with you on the excursions. I am not, and have never been an early bird. As far as room service goes, I wish they had at least one breakfast item available all day on their menu. Between the port talk and the lobster, I would have gone with the lobster. Our sailing was very diverse, which I loved. With that being said, I am sure not all of the sailings are, plus our sailing was completely sold out. The only thing that I would add to your list is longer hours for the Medical Center. I ate something that did not agree with me and became very ill. My husband went down and got me some medication for dehydration. The next night, I needed more. I called down to Medical, and they closed at 6 pm. I asked if they could just leave a package of the mix (it was just a package that you mix in a carafe of water) at the guest services desk for me. I was told that if someone were to respond to my request, I would be billed $150. Otherwise, I could just wait for them to open the next day. My call to them was made at 7 pm, I could understand the charge if it was the middle of the night but not 1 hr after they had closed.

I appreciate your honesty in your videos. As I've said in other comments, we have traveled with Viking 4 times on river cruises and loved it. We will be taking our first ocean cruise with them in a week, so I am glad to find out all the tips you've mentioned here and in other videos. I would definitely have done the lobster dinner!
