- The FOSSIL GEN 6 has officially launched and we've got one in house. In this video, we take a deep dive before getting to a Fossil Gen 6 review. Here, we'll do an unboxing, talk about its Wear OS 3 update, compare it to the Galaxy Watch 4, show it on the wrist, and do a bit of setup.

I was on the fence with the Gen 6 especially because it wasn’t going to get Wear OS 3 until next year (at best) but I was able to get it on a Black Friday deal plus additional coupons for under $200. This will be my first actual smartwatch (I have hybrid versions) so we shall see in the long run how it goes. I’m pretty sure the 4100+ chip contributes to the smooth experience thus far though. Main reason I wanted to get a smartwatch was to be able to not only receive notifications on my phone but to be able to reply to them also. NFC is a nice perk as well.
I had the gen 4 fossil watch I really liked it except the only downside was it lacked the sensors on the back for blood P heart rate etc and the bezzle wasn’t rotatable like Samsungs
IF 3.0 comes out this watch I'll get it. I don't believe ANYONE when they "promise" any updates.
I mean I can understand that if the watch was old but it literally just came out they will definitely have 3.0 I mean unless they went bankrupt like rn I don't see why they wouldn't update the watch since it's brand new
It will get 3.0 they can’t get it any sooner, all other companies other than Samsung have to wait until 2022 as Samsung and Google made a deal if Samsung gives tizen stuff they get wear os 3.0 early. So fossil will get it as soon as they actually can and I’m going out to get this tomorrow and I believe it will get 3.0 update

@@a-4paper776 I don’t see what all the concern is even ticwarches have to wait until 2022 and why don’t even know is Samsung made a deal or maybe there is a big bug in the software but Samsung just temporarily removed that feature

I have been a fan of Samsung for a long time but over time I have accumulated some watches since I have been getting more watches I liked because of better info and some things that Samsung has and others have. I started wearing two watches just over a year ago. I tried the Mobvoi and I felt they left things out of the description for selling and after a month last month (August) I then decided to give fossil a try and felt confident and bought another. So now all the time I wear two watches.

I currently have this watch. What I don’t like is, it doesn’t have the availability of faces of the current watch head stored in it. I also found that the battery charges quicker but doesn’t last half as long as the old watch.. aside from that is quite a good watch..

I'm still rocking my Gen 5 Fossil...works for me, but it sounds like this has some nice new features. I killed my Gen 4 Fossil...not at all as water 'resistant' as it was spec'ed to be. If I can really wear this in the water...that would be cool.
If you already have the Gen 5 do not get this it's not worth the upgrade just to get a faster charge and O2 sensors that somehow I cannot get the sync back to Google fit.
You can hold the upgrade till wear os 3 releases. Since without os 3 , there isn't a lot different. Other than better battery

I’m thinking of getting an android smart watch for the first time, but what stopping me is the lack of XL wrist band for 10.5 inch circumference wrist. If I buy a fossil Gen6, are there XXL long wrist bands available?
If its available for gen 5, then yes . You can use gen 5 straps and screen protector accessories with gen 6 too

Does the Fossil Fitness stuff sync back to Google Fit?
Yes using the Fossil Wellness app embedded on the watch. HOWEVER, I recommend you use the Google Fit apps on the watch as they update steps and heart rate and workouts etc almost immediately. The sleep tracking syncs back to Fit so you have it all in one app, but the syncing takes a really long time (like hours). Sometimes if I restart the watch it will sync faster. So far I can't get the blood saturation to sync anywhere. Hope this helps

I have been looking at getting this watch. Love the way it looks but I can't seem to find anywhere information on how the text messaging is working on it. That's important to me. Can I e send texts from this phone like I would be able to on the galaxy 4
I have this watch. And the texting is great on it
I just wanted to give a bit of warning. For those of us who tend to lean towards the bigger watches (46mm and up), this watch will feel like a toy when you first wear it. To be honest, I haven't worn it long enough to really make a determination as to if it fits my needs or not, but regarding size, this thing feels tiny. Worse, the response on this thing is left over from the 1990s or something. We're talking SLOOOOOOOW! You might ask a question and get a response 10 minutes later! We're not talking about the cutting edge here!
Then again, for those of us who are wanting the image more than the function, this might just fit the bill. In other words, it does the basics while looking pretty good. Anything else you want, you should probably wait for the next generation.
Great video. When you say continuos heart rate tracking , does that mean it captures the heart rate every minute or just a sampling for every 15 min
Got a galaxy watch 4 classic and fossil gen 5. I honestly don't notice the difference between wear os 2 and 3
I get that it's like an app thing or something that you now lack but who's seriously installing all these pointless apps onto their watch? Like I don't get why you'd want to play any kind of game on a smartwatch with a smallish battery. Just need notifications and calls.
Google assistant is a plus but I don't use it enough on my watch to actually NEED it

Gw4 is great but battery life is comparable to fossil gen 5 due to wear os

This! The only thing I really care about coming from a gen5. I hear the smart battery mode helps a lot with battery life.
Battery life is pretty decent for wear os. I get a day and a half with smart battery mode, aod off, and Bluetooth scheduled to turn off at night. Also ot charges super quick
Nothing too exciting. I m returning my Galaxy watch 4 and go ebay grab a gen 5 for $100 . No matter how you look at it, Fossil is more beautiful watch and Wear Os 2.31 is not too bad.
Yeah, 2.3 ain't that bad. And fossil really makes gorgeous looking watches that are actual accessories than utilitarian devices

The Galaxy 4 is stupid. It doesn’t wireless charge on any charger other than a Samsung charger. It doesn’t have google assistant. It’s stuck with Samsung’s voice recognition that doesn’t really work.

Can you believe theres a “smart”watch out there that counts your calories when you work out but completely malfunctions if it comes in contact with your sweat because youre working out? Such a “smart” watch in 2022 would be a JOKE! Oh, wait, its the Fossil Gen 6! I naively gave this piece of shit watch a B+, but after seeing that it ALWAYS short circuits and shuts down for two days after working out with it and the watch touching my sweat, I now give the carastrophic failure a D-
How in the HELL do you program a watch to count your calories so people can work out with it but then you make it unable to withstand the smallest bead of sweat that happens while the wearer is working out??? Whats the point???
Warning!: Do NOT bother getting this watch if youre into working out. It wont even last three months (mine short cicuited and shut down after two and a half). Worst way to waste $300 USD.
