Hey Ethan, my first time commenting, been watching since i ran across a video of you walking at a very cold auction, been a fan ever since. Really have a lot of respect on how your growing your farm and keep building equipment and making things work. I really enjoy watching your equipment and learning bout the history of oliver. I grew up on red and still farm with them today. every time i see something oliver, or white i think bout you...... Keep doing it like you do!
Very nice setup. The 4-150 does pretty good with that. Yeah, that's one job i haven’t done yet in my life is cultivate or applicate between the row crops. I'd be nerve-wracked. Looking forward for more.
So now that you have some acres of use on the side dress bar and trailer. I’m looking forward to the video making adjustments to it and see how they do and what design changes are to come, this is a neat tool and well thought out and built.
Ethan, looks like that setup works overall really great 👍. I remember when I was a kid like you was saying dad would cultivate the corn as high as the tractor and it bend over and go right back up and you never even know it. Thanks Michael
With this setup, you need a hitch on the field tank to coned the nurse tank. So you can just pull the whole thing home. Since you have the horse power 😊
I worked for a big farmer for a couple years & he had a 2+2 3788 & cultivating with that tractor & a John deere 8 row was the most lumbering thing to get used too lol
It was poison ivy not poison oak. Ivy can form a vine and will grow on tree trunks and likes a site with some moisture. Poison Oak likes dry sites and grows mainly in small clumps on the ground. Both have three leaves but oak is more variegated but sometimes they look just alike by the leaves and you have to identify them by where they are growing. I am HIGHLY allergic to them. As a kid i had it over 80% of my body (picking up sawdust left by a chainsaw after my father cut up a dead pine tree covered in vines during the winter). I still have scars in spots from where my skin split from swelling. I also have a degree in forestry. First three species they teach you to identify in dendrology class is Poison Ivy, Oak and Sumac. You won't believe how many students still fail to identify it and examine the leaves by hand or even taste it.
Looks like the 4-150 boogies right along thru the mud. Your corn is about like ours...won't be long and it'll get too tall to go into without breaking it over. Last year our supplier dribbled 28 on our pre-tassel corn with a Hagie high-clear...talk about non-stop growth !!! Hate to see much corn run-down, but it's a fact-of-life on the turn rows.
There's a video on here somewhere that has a biologist telling how to deal with poison oak. He basically said treat it like wherever it touched is covered in Grease can you use a strong soap like dawn to get the oils off that carry the nasty irritating chemicals.
@@Oliver66FarmBoy I am not super sensitive to it so I can get by with making sure I wash my extremities very well when I'm home for the rest of the day.
I did wonder if you'd just point the nose down the row and keep it straight. One thing I did like about the 4-180 we used to have you'd point it at a fence post on the other side and it would head straight towards it. The Lincoln hood ornament is good for lining up fence posts and the like. Good work Ethan.
Off topic but a local consignment sale had a White 8650 pull type combine with a pickup head on it, the combine was in great shape looked like it was hardly used at all
Some years ago my dentist who was allergic to poison ivy told me use rubbing alcohol on poison ivy as soon as possible after contact. I now do this and it works well for me, I can’t say if it would help you with poison oak though. But you would probably have not much to lose to try it. I use 91 % rubbing alcohol and if you dry it pat it dry don’t rub
@@Oliver66FarmBoyone thing I have realized about the rubbing alcohol is it’s derived from wood plant family and poison ivy is too, so it somewhat makes sense that the wood derived alcohol would help desolve the toxin in the sap
Need to set your rear view mirror where you can peek up at it to make sure all the balls are floating like you said though just keep it in the middle and drag ass
I hate to see rows knocked down in your direction of motion. When knocking it down turning at the end isn't so bad. This corn at the 3/4 video mark looks water stressed.

The 150s big problem is you really notice how bad the steering bushings are getting when you try to follow rows.

Or mount it behind the cab on a bracket. Then it stays strait with the tool bar. Then you could tow the nurse tank to and from the field.
Front frame won’t hold the weight.

My dad died suddenly in 2014 when I was in my 30s I say spend as much time together as you can because you never know what tomorrow will bring
My guess is your dad is happy to see you being responsible, I doubt if you waste much of your money supporting the beer companies ( I hope I'm right)
I got all that wild stuff out of my system in college. Now I’ve got to much going on in my life to waste time and money on alcohol.
