- RIP Betty White. We all loved Betty White. This week Tony and Johanna review the best movie to feature Betty White and Crocodiles, Lake Placid. In this movie review/podcast they will talk about all the ways this movie is hilarious.
When a mysterious creature violently kills a man in a Maine lake, Jack Wells (Bill Pullman), the local game warden, looks into the bizarre case, along with Sheriff Hank Keough (Brendan Gleeson) and visiting paleontologist Kelly Scott (Bridget Fonda). Looking for clues in a tooth that the beast left behind, Kelly and the others eventually locate the monster, a massive and vicious reptile eager to devour anything in its path. Can the crocodile-like creature be stopped?

Primeval (2007) was the "true story" crocodile movie. It's a decent silly monster movie. Ravenous is a cool cannibal movie.

I love seeing this movie in the cinema. The crocodile practical effects for great, the dialogue from David E Kelley script was hilarious, & the characters were great. Hector, Sherriff Hank, and Delores were my favorite characters. RIP Betty White.

This is a classic. Freaking great movie that is very underrated, and relatively unknown from my experience.

Gustave is the massive Nile crocodile (approx 20 feet and 2,000 pounds) who's rumoured to have killed as many as 300 people in the Ruziki River and the shores of Lake Tanganyika. He's never been captured despite multiple attempts, including using live bait like a goat and a dog. He just wasn't interested. It's unclear exactly how old he is now or if he's even alive.
I by accident walked into their general store set when I was on the road working with my dad. It was filmed in Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island in BC, Canada.
Great video and hilarious review of one of my favorite Jaws knock off films. Tony should do a review of this film with all the others co-hosts, and they can all compete to see who the best air stabber is.
Personally I preferred “Alligator” from 1981. Betty White though is amazing, and the reason to watch this movie. I grew up watching The Golden Girls and Rose was one of my favorite tv characters, so you can imagine my mental shell shock, when this was my first thing with Betty White in it I saw after Golden Girls.
The movie at 51min they are talking about is Primeval (2007), with Dominic Purcell (Prison Break), Orlando Jones (Evolution), and Brooke Langton (The Replacements) its based around a Croc in Africa named Gustave that was known for killing 300 people.

Upstate NY resident here to say that the Town of Lake Placid is not on the actual Lake Placid, the Town is actually on a lake called Mirror Lake. Not an explanation but id assume with that joke they made that this might be to what they are referring too

I was in high school when I saw both Lake Placid and Deep Blue Sea in theaters, and I definitely got a lot of bang for my buck. Lake P really wasn't your typical water monster horror movie. One of the things that made it so great is the fact that so many of the characters are rude condescending assholes, and Betty White was the cherry on top RIP.
Also Johanna, how many of us haven't milked a penis? I mean come on...
This is why Johanna & Tony should be the main cast on this show then add in the Godzilla stuff to makes a hack the movies pie

Tony is spot on when it comes to tampon observations. Consider what they'd accuse NASA of if they only sent like 10, and something happened like they were accidently damaged or jettisoned. Accidents happen. Better for NASA to plan ahead (they don't have an expiration date do they?) then be caught in a flood. I'll bet they have a whole list of things tampons can be used for besides, like maybe they can be used to plug a micrometer hole in case of a worst case scenario.
I'll watch a Lake Placid review any day of the week. I love that movie. On a related note, you should review Arachnophobia some time.
The sequels are utter garbage, by the way. All of them.
