A state-of-the-art remake of the classic William Castle horror film about a family that inherits a spectacular old house from an eccentric uncle. There's just one problem: the house seems to have a dangerous agenda all its own. Trapped in their new home by strangely shifting walls, the family encounters powerful and vengeful entities that threaten to annihilate anyone in their path.

Hey look up my video called a Ghostbusters mashup With Thir13en Ghosts
Who wouldn't want to see Crystal and Joanna wandering around in a glass house with symbols on the walls and gears opening doors. Tony, Newt, Justin, Kieran, and Mint Salad are the ghosts that inhabit this fortress.
Honestly the special feature that gives the back story of each ghost is probably the best, and scariest portion of this film.
Was just about to comment that. That extra truly is amazing
i like how there is lure behind the ghosts..makes it feel like there was some effort put into it...and the makeup of the ghosts is top notch for sure..they are memorable...mathew lillard put his heart and soul into the role props for that and the rest of the film is bad but hey...the house was interesting
Queen of the Damned would be a good one. But I think I mostly liked it because the soundtrack was awesome.

Matthew Lillard played Shaggy, and was in 13 Ghosts. There was also a Scooby Doo cartoon called the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo.

Not at all: _The Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby-Doo_ was directly inspired by the Castle movie-to the point of even featuring Vincent Price as a main character. As for Matthew Lillard being in both reboots, I'd be willing to bet his performance as Shaggy showed Dark Castle he was good at acting alongside complicated post-production VFX and selling them as if they were real.
Matthew Lilliard wasn't shaggy during 13 ghost of scooby doo. Well maybe the newer episode. Casey Kasem was the original shaggy
@@LordGanondorf. no-he also wasn't in the original William Castle movie. I'm saying the producers of the remake probably saw what a good job Lillard did acting off a completely CG dog in the SD reboot and decided he'd be a great choice for their own extremely VFX-heavy movie.

IIRC, the actress who played The Princess only did this movie, became a mom, and retired from acting to focus on her family. Steve Beck retired from directing, but in 2020, came back and did the commentary for the BLU-RAY of both Ghost Ship and Thirteen Ghosts.
I love this movie, and Crystal.

Steve Beck stated on the commentary for Ghost Ship that pre-production of Ghost Ship started while 13 Ghosts was still being filmed.
When Matthew Lilard says "I gotta check the breaker" that's a funny nod to the Juggernaut who was referred to as "The Breaker".
These guys have such great chemistry. It's a pleasure just listening to them, well, talk about tapes.

PITCH : a slasher where the killer reenacts death scenes from movies that don't make sense, but fixed. An example would be the wire from Ghost Ship but the ceiling drops to 4ft from the floor first, so everyone's head is at the same height before the wire decapitates them.
This movie came on FX around Halloween every year when I was a kid. It would scare me so bad that I could only watch parts of it by using the "back" button to switch between cartoon network and FX
FINALLY. Now we only need Alien 3 and Jeepers Creepers 2 or Jason X.

Fun Fact: Apparently The Jackal is the only one who is scared of fire because of his death in the asylum. So the flare only works on him.
I think Crystal is adorable: funny, dorky and witty. I don't understand why people are distracted by her facial expressions, seems pretty normal to me. Btw Johanna and Tony are adorable too, I'm just surprised by how mean people can be.

The split in half scene took me so off guard when I first watched it, it was the first time I really felt a tonal shift in a movie (which resulted with me sleeping with the lights on for several nights)
I love the original and the remake. The 1960's version had creepy ghosts in 3-D and all the trademark William Castle cheese. The remake had awesome ghost designs and Matthew Lillard going crazy.

The first time I ever saw Thirteen Ghosts I was in 5th grade, and I watched the ghost files then went to a friend's birthday party playing Lazer tag
And this movie kept playing in my head the whole time I was in that dark ass Lazer tag arena. Ever since then it's always beeny guilty pleasure.

Totally down for a Newt spinoff, since I used to be like him and had a compulsive and made every convo about me or my opinions. And his stories are entertainment gold, so I'm not saying someone should do it, but a quick semi soft karate chop to my throat, ensured I never interrupt people unless I really need to.

This movie is a favorite me and my friends watched it back in the day in a house that was supposedly haunted so it made it that much better.

interesting pieces of trivia..... the writing on the glass is parts (and sometimes complete) versions of The Lord's Prayer in Latin, The "gear up" scene she wasn't grabbing explosives she was grabbing phosphorus flares which the ghosts are allergic/afraid of them, The ghost at the first of the movie was Breaker Mahony and the psychic was able to tell the amount of deaths there because the junk yard belonged to his father and when he died Breaker went crazy and would kill people at the junk yard, tear them apart and feed them to his dogs

When Rah Digga started messing with the audio I actually expected to hear samples from her theme song from this movie's end credits but they somehow thought they had the class to not go THAT far.

I first saw this when it came out on DVD while I was still working at my old Halloween seasonal job. My friend wanted to incorporate this concept into a haunted attraction. I should revisit this movie soon.
This movie is awesome. The ghosts in this film are top notch even if the rules make absolutely no sense. I love these early 2000s horror flicks for the cheese and the gore. All of them were just chock full of now dated pop culture references, heavy metal soundtracks, and rap/hip-hop stars. They might be awful movies, but they're a fun trip down nostalgia lane.

this is one of my wife's favorite movies, and it's exactly like you three said near the end there: it's not "good" by any stretch, but the effects are cool, the ghosts are cool, and you can just shut your brain off and have fun with it

Rotating the guests is working for this show. Lots of options. Episodes with Johanna are the best, chill vibe makes the show less about yelling jokes over each other. Tony is a lovable anything for a joke kinda guy. Newts broken which helps him bring that great comedian sardonic punch. Justin is Yoda, his opinion is the truth. Kieran is bound by nobody and I admire him the most. Crystal is loud.
But I have a feeling that as time goes on Crystal will be the best. Like coffee or peppers on pizza.
