Zippos are basically garbage lighters but have iconic status because of the name recognition. They're pretty reliable for what they are but since they have a large, slab-sided body that is ideal for graphics and logos, that is what they are sold as---a mini billboard. I was schooled 10 years ago on what a real wick/petrol lighter should be, and the perfection of the wick lighter design is realized (my opinion) in the IMCO Triplex Super 6700 made in Austria.
They are discontinued and/or defunct now and some say that a company's death means that it was a poor product but the Super 6700 is much smaller and utilizes an "economy of size and weight" design philosophy but it is still a complex device with more parts than a Zippo. The removable fuel reservoir/wick assembly is absolutely impressive, allowing the user to use it as a candle unencumbered by the body of the lighter. There's a convenient space for a spare flint(s) that doesn't require total disassembly and exposure of the wadding to outside air (and fuel evaporation) and the snuffer cap that fits over the wick is very small and makes a better, albeit still imperfect seal over the wick. Mine hold less lighter fuel for far longer than a Zippo. I heartily recommend an IMCO Triplex Super 6700 if you can find one. Beware of the Chinese knockoffs.

I still carry a zippo as my only lighter with the torch butane insert. Though I could imagine the electric arch one could come in handy as some carry cell phone battery banks/packs that could charge it when needed as well. The are pretty solid lighters/cases vs having the head or top out in the open where it's most likely to break.

I've never had a problem finding fuel which is interesting. I've tried to have my zippo on my edc but it's just something I forget since I've stopped smoking as much
