Good on you for passing on Myrtle Beach. It is all glitz and well worth passing by. The NC coast is much more accommodating.
It really is, in the end I was so happy that I didn’t stay there but found Carolina beach instead, which I really liked!!!

I came here to say the same thing, Myrtle Beach is an overcrowded, unfriendly, overpriced tourist trap. The North Carolina beaches are way better.

Awesome video! I am sorry you had a negative experience at Myrtle Beach. I have also had this experience there and will never go back. Edisto, Charleston , and any beach in NC are great. Myself I am happiest in the mountains. The Fall colors are starting here and temperatures wonderful for riding. I hope you are well and enjoying Fall! Best!

That was a nasty comment someone made elsewhere claiming the unfriendly people at Myrtle Beach were probably northern transplants. Every place has some unfriendly natives. Myrtle is a trashy tourist trap. Charleston would have been the best coastal place in SC for you to enjoy a bit longer. Come again!

I think I actually didn’t stop once at a burger chain on this trip - but I had expensive lobster rolls instead 😂. Don’t know if that’s much better 🥶😂

Lea, do you know about the crumpled up newspaper trick for drying your boots? Loosely crumple up newspaper and shove it into your boots. Make sure you get it down in the toes. Change it out about every hour. It will suck the dampness right out. Also, Myrtle Beach has a long history of not welcoming bikers. Great video.
I of course did that, just didn’t show in the video. Boots were still wet in the morning though, I guess this time it was too much 😂

North Myrtle Beach Hilton is very nice I hope that wasn't the hotel. Somewhere around the North Myrtle Beach fishing pier and Campground are good accommodations. And the very nice cigar store. I stay in that place at Carolina Beach. Very cute town
To me all of myrtle beach is probably not a place I will ever return to, to be honest. 😂 but that’s sometimes ok too, I am sure there are super nice places there too, but not everyone can always have a good experience everywhere, so that’s only fair and instead might bring you to a place like Carolina beach!

Myrtle Beach is a very unfriendly motorcycle town. It always has been. They try to discourage the spring and fall Harley rallies.
Go to the mountains in NC and Tn. They love motorcycle riders.
All that rain had to be uncomfortable and very dangerous riding. I’m glad you survived it. 😊

Wow that was some beautiful scenery and you must have had some real heavy rain. I can see you were very moved by your visit to the plantation, understandably. This was the first video I have watched of yours and enjoyed it very much. I am so proud of you of doing this on your own. I travel throughout the country (road trips in the car) quite a bit with my dog and you have shared wonderful insights on some unique areas that I have not been. I look forward to watching the next video on the outer banks as I have never been there. I have been to other areas of NC, just never made it to the outer banks. I am also looking at possible relocation to NC (among other states) but in the western mountain area. Hope to see more of your videos. Great job and thank you for sharing your journey!
As someone from the Deep South, I’m so very disappointed at the reception you received in Myrtle Beach….. if I mirrored the same attitude that many have toward those of us from the South, I might guess those unfriendly people in MB were not native S Carolinians, but were Northern transplants…. I’m glad you did not give those unkind folks the benefit of your presence… and found a place more deserving.

Yes over the years traveling around the USA I have not stayed at several Hotels because they do want motorcycles in the parking lot.

As someone who lives In Horry County SC , the place hosts some of the biggest motorcycle rally’s on the east coast and riders have no one to blame BUT other Motorcycles bad manners

I live in SC now. I was born in Georgia. Between then and now I lived all over the world including a couple of years in Germany. Slavery is part of our history as it is with most of the rest of the world. It is remarkable that we get along with all the ethnic backgrounds these days. I mean people don't even like to admit that they own dogs or cats anymore. They are their family.
Yes, I think there aren’t any countries that don’t have a horrible or sad part of history - that’s just a fact. Being German I know that very well. Still think it is important to as well remember those parts - to be able to be proud of how far we came since then and as well to not repeat the same mistakes. And to keep fighting for those who need it the most.
Seeing you being turned away on your motorcycle I couldn’t help but talk about my experience two days in the Laos capital, Vientiane, with my two fellow riders, our hotel in the centre of the red light district, due to unsafe parking in-front allowed us to ride through the reception to park our bikes by the inner courtyard pool for the night, very entertaining for the breakfasters watching three big bikes riding out in the early morning to keep our appointment at the Mekong crossing at Nong Khai back into Thailand and home.

Hair dryers for drying my boots actually work extremely well, but beware putting it too far inside the boot as they will over heat, I found out to my cost. Here in Thailand we are just coming to the end of the rainy season so have been testing this out routinely.

I was on 1A in Fl today between St Augustine and Daytona. Some beaches were still closed or partially open. The dunes at Crescent Beach took a hit from the storm surge and lost what looked like 5 or ten feet off the face of 20 foot dunes.
Inland, the St Johns river was still moving fast northbound and full of greenery from downed trees. The docks along the bank were under water. But Ian didn't seem to want to go into the Forest, don't know why, but we were spared.
There's a video on YT of a shark (maybe a shark) supposedly swimming in the streets of one FL city. Happy trails!

You should have looked around more there are lots of places there in Myrtle Beach to park a motorcycle I have been there several times my daughter lives not too far away and we go to Myrtle Beach every time we go up there I've seen lots of hotels with motorcycles park in and around that's a real shame you getting didn't get a chance to stay the night
Hello! We enjoy your videos so much. We have a 2013 Ambulance and we just started traveling and we were amazed by how much we spend. Could you tell us what your daily expenses average?
I really can’t unfortunately- I had this topic in my last live chat, but I never make an overall calculation of the costs of my trip or daily expenses. It as well varies too much to be precise, if I travel at a holiday vacation time like in the beginning of this trip and the only hotels available are 200 + dollars a night, it’s of course much more expensive than if I would camp or stay in small places in West Virginia at the off season. In general i think that the USA got crazy expensive since covid when it comes to accommodations and hotels unfortunately.

Hi Lea, I don`t think you live a glamorous life on the road. You decided to live YOUR life and it was a very good decision, for you - I hope and I think so - and for your followers. You share your adventure-life with us - in a very fine way - and I always celebrate watching your videos. You decided well, not longer wasting time with unfriendly people in concrete boxes. All you need is a room where no water gets in you boots 😂or anywhere and a lot of time in the impressive nature - enjoy it, as often as you can 🏖 - it`s a lot of work behind your videos - isn`t it?

Luckily it was warm enough outside so even though I was really wet I was not freezing terribly!
I don't know what that guy's talking about. I stay at that resort every year and you can park your bike there while unloading. Guest parking is right across the street in that parking garage.

Rule #1 for rain...Do not tuck rain pants into boots. The pants must go over the boot tops.
Rule #2...even boots with waterproof linings get saturated. Use inexpensive boot covers to keep them dry (Exigent makes a good pair that fold up to the size of a hanky).
Myrtle Beach Bike Week is the cause of "no bikes allowed". For legal reasons, if the property does not want to accept the CRAZIES during bike week, then they must refuse them ALL YEAR ROUND.🤷♂️
I am from the area you are in and I hate Myrtle Beach, we never go there. You are not being stubborn. It probably comes from motorcycle rallies they have numerous times a year.

Myrtle Beach has hell with bikers going crazy. Lot of law suites between north and south part. Rudeness is never good. You are polite, could have told them to stick it up their ass. Sure is a hot looking Carolina Beach. Liked the vid.
Yes, everything turned out great in the end with getting to Carolina beach, which I anyways liked much more than the huuuuge resorts at myrtle beach. But thanks so much for the background information, that makes somehow sense then.
As a German, I think I’d avoid commenting on other country’s “dark history”. Don’t you think? Otherwise, another great video! Look forward to the next!
No, especially as a German I know how important it is to not forget the parts of your history like wars and slavery - because my opinion is that only that will keep you from repeating similar mistakes in the future. And to be honest: I feel as well European, and the American history is as well very connected with the European one, due to European countries being the ones starting colonizing the American continent. So this should not be a „your country-my country“ problematic but rather a common effort to exactly talk about these parts of our history to not forget them. (I btw as well talked about slavery when visiting Senegal, and I will as well every now and then when visiting other countries. My channel being mainly entertaining doesn’t mean that I will just leave out these parts of history always).
