- A road trip on the famous Skyline Drive - the only route through Shenandoah National Park.
Some roads are made for experiencing an ultimate road trip. Some roads are made for riding a motorcycle. But it’s no only the road that is responsible for an unforgettable road trip.
The Skyline Drive is the only road through Shenandoah National Park and a must visit when visiting Virginia. But I had to first overcome many obstacles, before I was rewarded with the perfect view. A trip on the Skyline Drive to the iconic town Harpers Ferry.

Riding in the rain is no fun and riding in the rain on new tires is even less fun but the footage is almost magical! Thanks again for sharing your fantastic work.
Thank You so much
You were in my "back yard". FWIW, Hillsboro is in Virginia - you will play tag with the state lines many times in this area.
Re: heated grips. I rented a bike early in the season (late May) in 2004. It got chilly in Austria and I only survived because the bike had heated grips. When I got back home, I put them on my bike and every bike since has had them.
Lea, thank you for another excellent video and history lesson. I have ridden on many of the same roads in that area of the country and
have enjoyed the beautiful scenery. The day I rode the Blue Ridge Parkway there was dense fog just as you had in Virginia.
I would like to recommend that you buy a heated vest. A vest is a wonderful item when you are
riding in the cold rain. When our bodies are getting cold most of our blood is kept in the trunk of our body to keep the vital organs
warm and less blood goes to the arms and legs. A heated vest keeps the body warm and more blood is allowed to go to our arms
and legs, keeping them warm. It really works.
Safe travels and we have not seen the red dress in quite a while.
To be honest on a trip like the USA trip where it was mostly very acceptable temperatures besides of maybe 3 days or so I would not carry a heated vest, I just have a lot of luggage in general with all my video and filming equipment and every additional piece matters. So if I don’t need things every day or to survive I rather leave them at home.
Cool I bought my motorcycle from Wayne's Cycle Shop. Such great people.
Hi!...
There are many ways to encourage and recognize the good work some people have done for the society so far, it's my personal and honest opinion. I hope my few words have given the strength they need to continue doing this work. How the World is changing dramatically and perversely, in last few years... It's time to reverse these dark days of interests... You are part of this and gather some of the necessary means and tools, to be able to counteract and make real difference. Changing the way of seeing and thinking of many citizens around the world. Traveling through several countries, it allows you to understand and build bridges between different cultures and communicate between them...
Autumn has arrived...
Many days have passed, inform of silence... without sweating to much, I'm writing, again a few words, not many from the journey 😀, but today is also time to break that silence...
Behind the windows, a shadow looking out..., it is raining heavily, on the window glass a few drops of water are slowly running down the windowsill, the same thing happens on the helmet, the discomfort is remarkable...
In the background noise, that of mechanical clock stands out... suddenly the gaze is projected onto a tree lined road, the reflections off the water are mirrored along the path, small particles are released from the treads of tires. They mix with the final result of combustion in the engine, a cloud of smoke is projected far behind the direction of travel...
Finally... after miles and miles the oasis is in sight. The permanent engine rumble ceases to be heard, a ceiling, a confort treat, the rest of a long journey...,from the anxiety to joy, mission accomplished, until next time... Got2go!
👏
I used to live about 30 miles from Waynesboro and miss that area very much!! The people at the entrance should have told you to be careful about deer on Skyline Drive, since it's impossible NOT to see deer on that road. So glad you made it through your close call with them! Great episode as always!!!
Lea
Another fantastic video Lady!!! Amazing. It started out wet but ended with AMAZING views. West Virginia is gorgeous and Skyline Drive is fabulous for it's views.
As usual you get many Roses for your beautiful videos.
and vases to keep them until your next video!
Ride SAFE and BE safe Lea!
Peace.

Hello to Kazakhstan!
the background music was very good.....entertaining...beautiful views.....as always ...thanks beautiful lea......
Thank you!!
I certainly travelled with you on the Skyline drive, through the Shenandoah National Park, and I felt badly that you had to ride some of it in the pouring rain, but fortunately you rode half of it the following day without the rain. I was not so fortunate many years ago, when I rode through the park, and twice, as it rained and fogged all the way through. I am glad you were able to avoid the deer. Looking forward to the next episode.
Oh no what a pitty that you had rain and fog too! Happens to the best!
@@Got2Go looking forward to the next episode.
Another beautiful trip. I guess if you ride a motorcycle enough your going to get wet when it rains. Just part of the journey.
In the prior video I made a comment on posting your journey itinerary and you provided a link to contact you. I could not figure it out how to use it. Sorry.
I actually don’t know what you mean exactly? With link to contact me? That was probably spam, please never answer to comments that say you won something or click on their links!
Skyline Drive is amazing and aptly named. It has to be experienced in person. Harper's Ferry is a cute little town. I go there when I feel like driving for a while in my Jeep Wrangler with the top down.
Got2Go, my favorite chanel for motorcycle journey. I learn a lot about ride from Lea.
Thank you so much!
🏍👍graet job Lea bad, bad ,,weather you are good pilot Lea , in to this beautiful land
What an experience it is riding in the rain... WoW 🤗
Thank you for rekindling my memories of living in this beautiful area (Hillsboro, VA). I've ridden the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway dozens of times so enjoyed your excellent travelogue so very much. Keep riding, and keep the shiny side up!
Aus Wertschätzung und Unterstützung. Danke, Lea.
Bought two bikes from Waynes. Had to travel .5 hrs to get there but it was well worth it. Good people good service.
Oh my goodness Thankyou for this Lea. I love you and your videos so, so much I cannot begin to describe. They put me to sleep, calm me when I have anxiety, and invigorate me when I need a fresh perspective. Also, I suddenly want a motorbike 🏍 ❤
Then you should get one for sure! It would suit you!!!
"some roads are ment to experience..." and some people, like you Leah, are meant to inspire and motivate others to ride them, by sharing their experience and awesome videos! Thank you Leah! 👍👍
Awww thank you so much for these nice words!!!!
Wow, Lea, what a ride! Sorry about that weather. But it turned out well. We enjoyed the towns and the history you shared! Looking forward to the next video.
Thank you for joining anyways!
It's captivatingly interesting and beautiful to follow you through these contrasting riding conditions and all these impressions of Virginia/West Virginia, could watch for hours🙏🙋🍀👍!
Thank you so much Christoph!
Yep, it can’t always be sunny. Harpers Ferry looks like a great place to spend the night. Riding in the rain on brand new tires, is scary….🙀
Yes it’s not my favorite thing to do 🥶🥶🥶
Interesting video despite the rain, do not get sick, watch your throat, greetings.
Thank you, always trying to stay healthy!
Big meadows have rooms, but they are not very clean, I stay at Skyland, and I stay in the Stoney man cabins, just a little info in case you come back. I am glad you got to Skyland instead!!
Sounds good! Really liked Skyland too!
Great job Lea - sorry the weather was so poor
Thank you so much!
Very truly said,100% Absolutely right….Satisfaction is foundation of One’s Happiness ,Peace of mind and Good health.
Exactly 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Another excellent presentation. Thanks
Thank you so much for your nice words!

Lovely video! As I watched and listened to your accent, for a moment it felt like it could’ve been somewhere in Europe. Very enjoyable!
Great episode! I had the opportunity to ride this area in 2005 super nice historical part of the US. Thanks for taking us along!

I admire your determination. You did what you had to do and got beautiful footage along the way. Better luck with the weather next time.
So beautiful Lea,thanks.
Thank you
Well well Lea. I know how nice a hot shower feel like after all that rain. The outher half was better i hope... Thanks for shering.
Yes the next day was stunning!!!
Another Awesome adventure to bad the rain stayed around for a while .. Stay Safe .. 🤘🏼
Shenandoha , Monongahela how can you ever go wrong with names like that! Beautiful.
They really are!
wow very lucky you were safe . Harpers ferry was very cool check the liner in your helmet most snap out for cleaning , in your case for drying . thank you LEA ride safe and far.
Yes but I didn’t even realize how wet the helmet was until I put it on again 😂😂😂
@@Got2Go thinking, why did it get wet anyway being a full face hummmm ? and that a expensive brand .
Hi Lea, thanks for this video! I'm glad you were able to get new tires for your bike. Look's like Wayne's treated you well. Even with the rain I could see why this is a popular route. I have a friend that lives in Richmond, Virginia and I'm always amazed how green things are there. With rain like that things better be green. Thanks again!
Yes exactly, the nature loves the rain more than me!
Great video thank you very well done. Nice choice of tiers how did you like them. Thanks again cheers to ya
I like them quite a lot, have had them before!
I'm enjoying your adventures very much. Skyline Drive is a beautiful to see in the fall. The trees are gorgeous when they turn. Hope you liked Charles Town and Harper's Ferry. This is my part of West Virginia, although the entire state is awesome!
Enjoyed very much!😊
That’s great!!
WV is very beautiful we spent a week there on the motorcycle and did not get to see everything. Must go back
Me too! It’s awesome!!
As always, awesome 👍
Thank you so much!
West Virginia, take me home !!! ..a week later still singing that song..lol
Aye.. days of rain puts a damper on things..but that beautiful scenery needs the rain..
The sun eventually comes out..and the world is again looking good
Stay safe
That’s how it is, the weather is such a mood changer!!!
@@Got2Go Indeed.. that's how it is..and living in Scotland l used to riding
..in the rain 😁
Video much better than the weather.... but as you said, " What a Difference a Day Makes"
What a difference a day makes

Where there used to be rain
I like the "Max Raabe & Palast Orchester - What A Difference A Day Makes" version (on YT)
Look forward to visiting Amish Country with you! Happy trails.
That’s a great version!!!
Thanks for another great video and ride along
Thank you for joining!
Great riding, Tho like you im not a fan of the rain.. But wow when it cleared up, great view and scenery, Look forward to next thursday xxx
Really well done. Thank you.
Even in the rain, that part of the country offers spectacular roads and vistas, as well as fascinating history at every turn. I’ve always made it a point to quietly pay my respects to John Brown and his sons while passing Harpers Ferry, and also to the journalist James Callender, who was drown in the James river - in Richmond VA, for exposing corruption in 1803.
Thank you for this beautiful video, surpassed only by the Alps videos.
I think you know much more about the history there than I do - but I found it very interesting to visit and to soak up all the history that I actually didn’t know so much about before.
Been there back in September, but by car. We had almost the same weather, a bit better. What a pitty you hit that on bike, would have been wonderful ride!
Yes, but luckily it was only one day! So I could enjoy it a little bit in the end!
When you were in West Virginia I gave you some suggestions. Then I remembered - callwv (toll free telephone information on my great state...) Because we want you to come back & play in our hills.. AS omnitrus mentions below your footage is excellent. You are an outstanding young woman with a well developed sense of adventure & wonder. May I suggest a good, long soak in a warm bath tub. And an warm meal... I was thinking about riding motorcycles in the rain. I did not have the proper rain suits. Which means I got soaking wet and stayed that way until the end. Speaking of the shape of the Mountain State, there is a comedian from here that talks about the shape of W.V. He holds up his left hand and extends his middle finger. He then says my state is shaped like this. And it is!!! I hope you are not offended by that statement. Once again, I want to Thank YOU for your excellent video and kind words! I want you to know you are welcome here anytime. Ride safe and defensive,,,, There is a lot of history in and around Charles Town & Harpers Ferry. You will have fun up in PA. visiting the Amish. These folks are very special in many, many ways. They are NOT big on modern technology. As much so as Greenbank, WV was if not more. But for different reasons. Good people, you will be welcomed. Peaceful, God-fearing people with a strong sense of community....
I really love your videos 👏🏻🤠 ❤️
Thank you so much for your videos. I am doing the Blue Ridge next month myself and learn a lot from you. Keep up the good work.
Just fortunate to ride the Skyline Drive on a sunny October day. Amazing and beautiful views.
Ohhh awesome for you! Sounds like you enjoyed it!!!
Awesome, spectacular and amazing ❤
Thank you!
You're amazing and brave. God bless you in your travels.
Beautiful video! Best!
Thank you!
Love your videos, thank you for your honest appraisal of lodging when off on your adventures - so inspiring! I was most impressed with your statement recently that often the local opinions are very true and helpful - so nice to hear positive travel experiences. Thank you for sharing & posting.
You are courageous to resist the rain and take us to the most scenic places .The footage is excellent as always !
I can not wait for next week !
Thank you so much!!!!
Thanks for sharing. I'm preparing to ride from Delaware to Texas.
What a difference a day can make! Thank you very much Lea, for sharing those beautiful views. 😊
Thank you for watching!
Looks amazing👍
Than you
Despite the rain, you still captured some great views!
I can't wait to ride this route next spring.
Thanks for taking us along with you!

Thank you so much! I hope you will enjoy it!
I love your videos
Thank you!
Voce faz muito sucesso nessas viagens, esta de parabens
A friend of our family in VA died on their motorcycle after hitting a deer. Be careful! Love your videos!
Thanks for another great episode. You truly have a good nature to be able to stay upbeat and chipper when you are clearly cold and wet.
Thank you so much!
You’re awesome! Just stumbled upon your channel. Love you and your content! Safe travels… ❤
I have been on the blue ridge parkway and skyline drive, the fog can be very dense at times, the park is awesome when the weather is good, the clouds always take over the mountains in Shenandoah. Great content.
So beautiful vdo
Thank you!
Safe travels Leah .
Thank you so much!
Very much enjoy your videos ! Very professionally done . You are living life well . Much respect !
Lea, sorry about the fog but it's just part of it. I've been shit on so many times on the BRP and Skyline Dr. I can't count them. But when the weather is good it is a fantastic trip. Got a zillion photos over the years. Scenic beauty everywhere and more history than one could study in a lifetime. I hope you can make it back soon and experience some more detail of the mountain areas. Remember, Oxford heated grips are the best for the Tenere. 130 F yeah, they feel great.
I was so happy that at least on the second day the weather was so much better! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@Got2Go We take it as it comes but you are a long way from home on a schedule. A little more prep willl go a long way. Seriously a set of Oxford grips is a must for the Tenere. The factory ones are almost worthless. I really like your work and presentation. It's not easy I know. Be safe.See all you can Lea, you are young do it! I did.
Beautiful! You've got me wanting to ride in Virginia and W. Virginia. I'm so glad you finally got a sunny day to ride.
It’s really worth a trip!!!
Thank you ❤
Wow! Even in the rain and fog you make your adventure memorable. Thanks for sharing your feelings and the landscapes. Looking forward to your next video...✌😃
Thank you for virtually riding with me!!
Yes Lea ridding in the rain definitely sucks. I have experienced it my self a couple of times, one of those times being this past June. I was ridding south through Oregon State to get to the Giant Loop Ride in southern Oregon. I have to say that when the sun finally does come out it is so spectacular you just want to jump for joy. Good job getting some great video shots in spite of the rain and fog.
Yes, the sun after the rain is the best😍😍😍😍
Great episode. It still amazes me how much ones mood is dictated by the weather while on two wheels. Good work for sure! PS: SLD/BRP fog is just scary.
Very true! The weather is everything!!!
Wow! You're such a trooper riding in that weather. Good thing you missed the deer and yeah, the visibility is bad. That is a great view from the lodge. Ride Safe!
Thank you so much! And yes, that deer on the road was just 🤯🤯🤯
Amazing.. really wonderful & inspiring road trip. That’s a very moving scenes. I want to walk there someday., have a happy day Lea 😍
Thank you so much!
Another history lesson on thursday.
To bad about the rain but I'm suprised how green and wonderful it is in Virginia. Rain or sunshine, every week I have the feeling being on holiday for an half hour. It looks like I am also there riding on my GS with you.
Thank you so much and happy you still enjoyed it!
Nice video bravo
Thank you!
Be careful on the new tires , super slick . rain does'nt help. Glad the rain stopped.
Yes always very careful on those - especially in rain! Couldn’t ride fast anyways due to the fog!
Hi Lea, Thanks for that trip down memory lane. It's a pity you had to deal with rain and clouds in that area. I did a trip through there from Ontario(Can) through the Skyline Drive on to the BRP and to the Tail of the Dragon. Luckily I had amazing weather though at times we hit 38C but it was beautiful up in the mountains and a very memorable trip. Great winding roads and spectacular scenery. I could do it again any time. Thanks again for your great narration, choice of music and amazing photography. And I am really glad those deer were off on their timing. Cheers and safe riding.
PS. I visited Charleston and Savannah about a month ago. Beautiful to look at, sad to hear about.
Oh that sounds awesome! You were for sure more lucky than me!
Schade, dass der Anfang etwas nass war. Zum Glück hast du alles überlebt und konntest noch viel zeigen. Bis nächste Woche.
Ja, ein Tag regen, Ein Tag Sonne! Bis nächste Woche!!! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Heated grips are a must. Even my summer gloves are waterproof.
I don’t like riding in the rain. You see a lot less and my glasses fog up. Then you have to open the visor which means your glasses het wet and you see even less.
It looks a lot better without rain; nice and green.
Green often means a lot of rain.
Definitely a must!!! Love heated grips
Lovely episode! So many familiar sights. I first became a customer of Wayne's in 1970 and have found them to be an outstanding shop for the last 50 + years. It's a shame you had such bad weather for you first day on the "Drive" but Skyland and the views on the second day seemed to make up for it. Harpers Ferry is also along the popular C & O Canal Towpath which is a hiking and cycling path that runs along the north bank of the Potomac River for 184 miles from Cumberland Maryland to Washington DC.
Oh wow so I guess that speak for their quality of service if you are a customer for such a long time! Awesome!
Hi. I live in VA. You are so close to us.
It’s a very nice place!
Great thumb up for Lia ✨ 👍
Thanks
7:10 There is actually a gas station right off skyline, inside the park. It's by the Big Meadows visitor center, at Milepost 51, Skyline Dr, Stanley, VA 22851, and it has a great price for premium. You past the entrance at 9:49
Nice video
Thank you
Vielen Dank Lea !!! Lucky
Thank you for watching!
yes another great ride in Shanadoah National park. was there in 2017, came in at the north end near Front Royal. shame you ad a couple days of rain to spoil all the views.
Hope to be back at one point
Oh you missed sportbike meca: US-211. It's at the Thornton gap exit, both left and right. About 20 years ago they added rumble strips before the turns, due to all the sportbike crashes.
Nearby there is also US-33, I think it is, which is almost as good.
A fogging cold ride, and oh Dear, did I feel sorry for you! 🥶 Then gem after gem again! travelling north comes with some penalties, right? 🥴
Anyway, again a wonderful video!🤗
It does, the north always has some little surprises in stock 🤯😂
Hi Lea, enjoyed the video, the two Virginias are certainly beautiful, especially when the fog clears. One thing puzzled me why you didn't whilst at that motorcycle shop get some aftermarket heated grips fitted. Also, when I get a wet helmet lining, I use the Hotels hairdryer, works really well, hope that little tip helps in the future. Thanks Lea loving this east United States tour.
I know all these tricks - but I didn’t even realize how wet the helmet was (due to everything being so damp after the fog and rain) until I put it in next day.
And I didn’t get any grips fitted because you need to preorder them and they didn’t have any in stock, and for that my travels are too spontaneous and in the USA as well to short to do that. If I don’t sell the tenere and continue with it another time I will order them before I arrive close to the place the tenere now parks.
I don't know many of the iconic railway places in the US, but Harper's Ferry is one of them. Train traffic is quite high with 10-20 freight per day plus some passenger.
A bit of a refresher on geography.
Thanks for that!!!
Quando o capacete molha a parte interna, vc tem que remover a forração para secar! Abraço e bonito passeio.
