  • Check out Mariano Rivera's performance in the 2003 ALCS that earned him MVP honors.
Mo's name was written all over this series, saving 2 wins (Games 3 and 5) while earning the win in Game 7 with 3 shutout innings (his signature moment of the series) and also getting the final 3 outs of Game 2 (which was a non-save situation). Rivera stepped up big time in one of the greatest playoff series in Yankee history, and helped the Yankees claim their 39th AL Pennant in team history.

    Masterclass on pitching,
Incredible control and ability to place his pitches wherever he wants, always in complete command on the mound.
The greatest weapon in baseball history. Yankee fans were spoiled greatly by having a guy like Rivera close for them so much so I remember him giving up a HR on back to back nights to Miggy in his final season & the NY media were wondering if he was finished.

To this day I’m still wondering why Aaron Boone wasn’t MVP.

He did not have a great series altogether. He was only 3/17.
Mariano picked up 6-out saves in the important swing games of the series (Games 3 and 5) and was very effective in relief in Game 7 by throwing 3 scoreless innings.

So by your logic Luis Sojo should have been the 2000 WS MVP?

      Mighty Mo.
His finest moment out of all of them.
3 scoreless innings in Game 7 in a tie game with the pennant on the line.
      Unbelievable.
