At first glance you would think it's something up with Kershaw (tipping, injury, playoff yips etc.) but how the D-backs just destroyed every other pitcher shows that their offense has erupted at the perfect time. Sometimes playoff baseball comes to just that.
I think the Dodgers’ win % is better than they are this year. They weren’t as dominant as they have been. There was just an NL West power vacuum this season that they filled more than them being really good. So Dbacks and Dodgers are both really good but both have serious weaknesses.

What the Wild Card Series and Game 1 of the DS has shown me is no matter how good you are during the regular season, if you don't give it your all in the postseason, you will be immediately humbled. The Dodgers gave up 6 runs to a team with 16 won games less than them in the first inning. The Braves, noted to be one of the best offenses of all time, got shut out for the first time this season at home. The Orioles with their AL leading record left so many runners on base with no outs at first. The Astros held on to their win, but basically gave up 4 runs on two pitches at one point. Every team has a chance to win, no matter the odds or records. If you make it to the dance, then you fight.
I’ve often thought the same. No matter how great the team is during the regular season; there’s always a chance of the other team with less wins still having the opportunity to win the whole post-season title. Well said with your post. 👍
Dbacks were a more potent team this year than the win record suggests. It started to get bad when Carson Kelly took Moreno’s regular spot, things returned to normal when they shitcanned Carson Kelly. Dbacks dropped a couple games when Moreno’s son was born and he had a couple days off. He’s the key to the team. The Varsho trade is another W for this dbacks on a day where the Jays are sitting at home and Moreno and Gurriel are putting up postseason RBI’s
@@doctorhayo7976 if I remember correctly, the D-backs had a hot start to the year, I was actually surprised when I checked the standings months ago, and was even more surprised when I saw them drop. Just goes to show that anyone can win in the postseason.
Number 1 and 2 seeds in this new playoff format are at a disadvantage. Bye weeks hurt teams in baseball, its not the same like in football. Last year, the same thing happened, but fortunately for Houston they have Yordan Alvarez lol

I live in Arizona, but I'm an l.a. transplant. When I came in 1998, I came because there was a new baseball team. You're not going to get that chance very often in your lifetime to buy in at the basement with a baseball team. My husband is still loyal to the blue, but I'ma d-backs fan and I chose them, and so far they have not disappointed me. I know we've had some bad horrible years but we have a world series, and I am enjoying this playoff round. I proudly repped my Arizona Jersey when we went to Los Angeles to play them one year. I hope they go all the way, but since no one can predict the future I'll just enjoy the ride #GoDBacks

The D-backs had the least wins of any playoff team (84) and they’re the first to score 10+ runs in a postseason game this year, and Kershaw giving up 6 runs in the first inning and 5 before registering an out was the exclamation point, dude always seems to choke in October baseball. I’ll be rooting for the D-backs to pull off this upset and go to the World Series hopefully! This is too much fun
I hope the D-Backs make the Fall Classic. I'm always rooting for a different team each year to go there. D-Backs are the only NL team I want there and for the AL everyone except the Astros because I'm tired of watching them

The only reason Kershaw’s 2020 postseason wasn’t as bad was because it was a 60 game season so we technically got midseason Kershaw. He always has his terrible postseason outings after 162 games.
Fact. Adding to that, Kershaw gets very nervous when there's a lot of spectators; the 2020 season was played with no spectators, and it helped him play better.

I’m an Orioles fan, but I’m a baseball fan first and foremost. I absolutely love Kershaw. One of the greatest arms we’ve gotten to see over the last two decades. But it’s heartbreaking to see him fall apart every post season. He may not have the stuff he did in his twenties, but he’s still a great pitcher. Way better than average. I just don’t get how he gets to the post season and he disappears. This wasn’t just a bad outing, this was an explosion. Couldn’t even get to two outs before being pulled in the 1st? I hate to see this from one of my favorite pitchers. All that said, I can’t wait to see where Corbin Carrolls career takes him. This guy is gonna be great for years to come.

Ahhh like clockwork.. another October choke job by the NL West Champion Dodgers in the NLDS/NLCS when everyone of their fans and their mommas said they are primed to win it all. Honestly it's kinda getting sad at this point how many times over the last decade they've choked amazing chances to win it all away. I know its only 1-0 Dbacks in a best of 5 so long way to go, but that's an absolutely horrific start to LA's post-season and fans have to be thinking, "No way, not again 🫠". I look forward to Monday snd the rest of this series, AZ came to play and ain't gonna lay down at all.
At first in 2017 it seemed to be a matter of, “Okay they finally broke through and made it.” Then 2018 they just didn’t really show up (got lucky from that Muncy home run in the 18th inning), 2019 looked like it was back to same old chokers until they won it all in 2020. Really been a roller coaster with this team, which I’m no Dodgers fan (Braves fan actually) but I’m feeling like 2020 was their peak.

It is absolutely mind boggling how Dodgers Managers continue to trust Kershaw in playoff games. He is a fantastic REGULAR SEASON pitcher, but an absolutely inept, loser of a pitcher YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR in the playoffs...Its like he's pitching in the home run derby...so so bad. I'm already looking forward to the next series, if LAD advances, and them trotting out Kershaw for another batting practice pitching performance
