Irreverent, witty humor is my favorite. I find clever word play or humor that draws out big picture absurdities hilarious. Vulgar or dark humor is just fine as long as the company I'm with is not offended. That dang Fe you know. Thanks for another interesting video!

I think INFJ humor can be the best, you can leave your friends speechless, when it comes. But sometimes we keep it to ourselves. But it is a great tool to ease a serious environment, and show people we are not that perfect human being they may imagine us to be.

I really love satire and sarcasm and just goofy behaviour, and nuanced double meanings. It’s bizarre because I’m not all that goofy and satire really goes against my Fe. However I can definitely be very sarcastic especially with the people closest to me

INFJ humour can be very dry & subtle. Beyond that, it can run the entire spectrum depending on the individual. On numerous occasions, I've had to explain to people that what I've just said was meant to be a joke. They didn't get it & assumed I was serious. Perhaps my humour is too deep for them to grasp.
Q? Why did the chicken cross the Mobius Strip?
    A. To get to the same side.

i find it delicious when other people decide to not bother being socially pressured and just do what they want. the people who wear something odd or just decide that they are going to say whatever comes to mind (not malicious, just honest with no self consciousness) . I find eccentricity so authentic and brave. I am not laughing at them, but i find others reactions hilarious. I dont think i explained that well, but i'm hoping you get the idea.

  • @dr.hebagadallahclinicalpha9871

INFJ here. I love all types of humour except sarcasm , people feel bad about it . When anyone makes fun of them. I pick upon it .
I love watching ENFPs interactions. They often ask me : do you need us to shut up , you look so calm ? Are we annoying you with this humour? Do you think we are crazy? I answer :No, I love that . Please continue .
This typically happen, when I am meeting them . So I don't Know them enough to share the quirky side of me. After a while they would tell me : we taught you how to be funny , we are contagious , you are not that sane any more . You are as crazy as we are now. I laugh hard about it. If only they know our inner world 😂.

When it comes to experiencing humor, I really like absurd styles (like Monty Python) and styles pushing the edges of what is "acceptable" to say / think in "normal" society.
It doesn't have to be spectacularly clever, just as long as it is imaginative and doesn't rely on "cheap" strategies like degrading another person for something they have no control over.
I think Jimmy Carr, Jim Jeffries and Bill Burr kind of represents the humor style I'm mostly receptive to. All three comedians tend to use observational comedy to take quite "normal" scenarios into ridiculous territory by giving them a twist or just smacking it with a healthy dose of sarcasm or a reality check.
As for my own style, I tend to take something mundane, twisting it into something slightly ridiculous or going off on a tangent with it.
For example, in the context of a friend sneezing, I might say "Bless you. You do know cocaine is a bad habit, right?" or "Someone is thinking of you. Must be all those spicy senoritas you've been seeing lately" with smirk on my face.
In the context of a conversation, I tend to interject good natured "quippy" comments, friendly teasing or turning mundane conversation into slightly weird territory.
For example, if someone states "I took the kids to school this morning and traffic was hell" I might comment "Opposed to when you take them to the factory to work?" (with a big, mischievous smile on my face) and then follow up with something like "Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging you, I think it's great that you teach your kids responsibility at a young age".
It's actually kind of interesting to think specifically about what kind of humor we enjoy vs. how we express our own sense of humor - and also interesting to notice, that they might not be congruent with each other.

My INFJ sense of humour is really varied ... mostly subtle. You'd need to be a people-watcher or have an interest in people's characters/personalities to get some of my jokes. I'm known for dropping one-liners that are 90% genuine observations and 10% me actually intending to be funny.
The 3 people who crack me up the most are ISTP, ISFJ and ENFJ ... the only thing these 3 have in common is Fe-Ti so I guess that's where I'm most ticklish! My ISTP cousin and ISFJ friend don't even need to finish their joke/story and we are both already laughing! By the end, we are both literally crying or choking with laughter. I can also get into fits of hysterical laughter just laughing at my own thoughts and observations.
I love word play, some geeky comics, sarcasm/dry humour ... oh, and I have a tendency to crack up laughing (or at least having to suppress it) at the worst of times!

I’m always so in awe of my Si friends that can remember such details or authors of books and even the details in books. Even at book clubs they remember all the character’s names and I’m like- me: “ you remember that guy that did such and such” them: “oh you mean jake?” Me: “ yeah jake!” And I could have just finished the book a few days prior.

My humor comes in the form of unexpected wittiness or in the form of one joke to the next as I can connect them.
Like when someone says something at the beginning of the conversation; I can link it to something we are currently talking about in a witty way. My humor is therefore unexpected & “on point” ☺️
The funniest ones are when I roast someone. I just keep going & going & link one joke to the next.
I can be cruel with my jokes but always apologize after it & check on the persons feelings by literally asking them if they’re offended.
I have a mental note of the number of times I can make cruel joke on people depending on their personality as well. I can gauge that.

  • @emberw214

Hello. I guess the humor I like is sarcastic, goofy, high energy and witty. Examples would be Robin Williams, Eddie Izzard, the TV show, Who's Line is it Anyway? (this one I howl and cry with laughter), Groucho Marx, the old British show, The Young Ones ( Rik & Vvyn were my fave characters), Steve Harvey, and Tyler Perry as Madea.
I myself am horrible at telling jokes and rather surround myself with people who know how to just be funny. If I am funny, it tends to be just stating facts humoursly or piggy backing a sarcastic remark off of what someone has said.
I am far more amused than full on laughing at things/with people. Hence, why I am always on the lookout for people who can make me laugh. 😀
    Great topic! Thanks for sharing!

Today I was in the furniture store buying a bed for my tall teenage son. I needed an XL twin and the sales guy says we'll have to order that in since it wasn't currently in stock. He asked me if I was okay with the price since it was $10 more than the listed price for the regular twin. I told him sure I'd rather spend the extra $10 dollars than go with the regular twin and have to shorten his legs 🤦‍♀️.

    Thanks Ron,
Fellow infj, cannot live without sense of humor, and I **trust no one! not able to laugh at life/themselves . .
Ive seen a few" infj humor" videos and what astounds me is that pretty consistently, no INFJs demonstrate their humor in their comments!!!. What an opportunity . . .to further glimpse . .
And I'm drooling from the title, then . . nothin.
Anyway, Ben, I have to stop myself all the time from crackin wise and idealy, when I do, people are still cringing three days later : )
Probably my favorite is making people embarrassed to laugh, watching them in that inner conflict of shame and euphoria. I know the buttons to push too and, the deeper a person has healed and accepted themselves, the farther they can safely escort others to that place.
Mean(immature) comedians can't and shouldnt go there, but it's been said (good) comedians are the true healers of society.
Also, the expression, life is a tragedy for the feelers, and a.comedy for the thinkers.
(Don't.apply it like mbti, and it makes sense. . )
The classic comedy roasts are all based in love, and they even state it outright. Much affection between grown men, followed by the most jaw dropping putdowns, nothing held back, nothing "too" sacred.
I consider it a gift, to be able to put people at ease, all through the day, with simple humor. Bring some light. Along with other weird infj brain wiring, I can't not see shit in a funny/twisted way also, having survived hell a few times seems to help, so stop asking already!!
    My God, you're nosy!

'Fluid' and 'transgressive' are really good terms to use. I think the only kind of humour I *don't* like is humour I find flaccid and/or benevolent. I think humour should be surprising and sharp, and for me, the best laugh is one that comes completely unexpected. That means that I find some 'dad jokes' and utter groaners genuinely enjoyable. Burlesque and slapstick are great, paronomasia and equivocation and word plays, innuendo and inappropriate scenarios, sarcasm, and best of all, black comedy-I'm up for anything. Anything except tame.

Having a sense of humor is most useful, as in, a saving grace of sorts, when you are able to laugh at how ridiculous life, and people, often are.
The theater of the absurd is right in front of you, you don't have to look far.

  • @nephiboren382
    @nephiboren382 Před 4 lety +2

My style of humor (INFJ) is awkward and very visual. I usually come up with scenarios or visualizations that show absurd contrasts. An example of this is a thought I had while talking with a friend about what our kids might be like once we have families. Since I was known as a very happy, morally obedient, innocent person, I thought it would be hilarious if all of my future children were goth or emo. I imagined my future wife and I happily conversing and making breakfast in the morning, calling the kids downstairs for breakfast, and having three goth teenagers with heavy makeup, black clothes, hair, metal spikes, etc. Creepily make their way into the room and sit down without saying anything.
Another example was when I was about to make out with my girlfriend in my car. We were talking about what we liked in terms of making out, and she suggested I touch her face more...So I slowly stuck my hand over her face, the palm of my hand covering the center of her face while she was talking. The ridiculous interpretation of what she had said made us both burst out laughing.
My humor is usually expressed in very concise terms that show the types of things mentioned above.
I do not like jokes or humor that are vulgar or overly sexual. I like jokes that are funny because of differences in they way different people think and do things. I also like jokes that make fun of society as a whole or large enough portions of society that it could fall into the same category. I like The Simpsons, Regular Show, Parks and Rec, the older episodes of Spongebob, and Daria.
It’s also important that the dialogue in a comedy be well-thought out and that they don’t draw too much attention to the jokes they make. If the viewer gets it, great let’s move on. If they don’t get it, oh well, just move on.
I really don’t like dad jokes.

Hi Ren, I'm very eclectic on receiving humor, dark is welcome too lol but I'm not a massive joker to others (laugh to myself a lot...ashamed to admit!) but I'm very playful though.when I do joke to actual people, it's with using raw honesty and sometimes self deprecation... In dark times, I can somehow extract humor and poke fun that way aswel. Being Irish, some of our local comedians just provoke mortification in me that too makes me laugh too.

INFJ humor based on my observation is usually dry. However, that doesn't mean we don't appreciate more obvious kinds. However, we can never be truly shocked by anyone's humor tactics - even the ones that can come off as offensive for most, to us, still seem pretty digestible, even if we don't happen to enjoy them.

I have a sense of humor that makes most people go, “You’re weird.” Lol. I’m either ironic and subtle or silly and ridiculous. There is no in between. Are there any comedians you think are INFJ? I’ve always wondered if Larry David is an INFJ, since the humor of a show like Curb Your Enthusiasm appeals to me the most. It often transgresses Fe norms but isn’t completely offensive when doing so. Larry says the things I want to say.

Ren's Room Yeah, I think INTP is possible too. It is hard to say since he’s said he’s playing a exaggerated character of himself. I just love how he plays around with Fe in the show, unintentionally (and often times not) offending everyone he meets, which does seem more inferior Fe. I mean, I can’t ever see an INFJ doing this in real-life, but maybe we’d like to imagine it. ;)

I didn't know Buster Keaton until I watched his documentary The Great Buster. I appreciate his humor in a small dosage. The General made me chuckle a few times. My kind humor is edgy and raw. I like Bill Burr and Jim Jefferies. I enjoy watching videos on some comedians' CZcams channels for example Drew Lynch and Steve Hofstetter. They are both very good at dealing with hecklers. Some brutal facts make me giggle. Above mentioned comedians are very good at delivering brutal facts in a humorous way. I tried their styles, and it seldom works. Sometimes it causes misunderstanding. Once a male coworker nudged me out of his way. I think he was trying to be funny because he was making silly sounds. So I tried being funny too, "Hey, buddy. don't be too physical, okay?" The problem is I wasn't smiling and I sounded serious. Someone walked past and overheard what I said and told it to my manager. The next day the manager came up to me and asked whether the coworker had made any inappropriate move toward me. My manager also added workplace sexual harassment should not be tolerated at all. I was so shocked in the spot. I thought that coworker started a joke and I wrapped up with a joke. But bystanders thought differently. After I explained to my manager my reaction was supposed to be a joke, I wonder where the joke is...I am so conflicted. I need to be careful with my jokes. On the other hand, I make people laugh unintentionally. Once in a blue moon, some random guys call me funny because of some facts I know or some thoughts I have about certain things. That is funny. I know I am not funny.

I think to explain humor, personality types are simply not enough... humor is about breaking boundaries we develop... and your personality is a bystander, because it is more the culture, education, family circumstances (poor to rich) and many things more which decide your boundaries. So to put things right, humor has to be right to be funny... I don't like humor on the expense on others but thats it...

I think it's hard to pinpoint an INFJ's sense of humour, let alone anyone's, but it's guided by societal expectations of what's appropriate and our own lived experiences as trying to be decent human beings.
For example. An acquaintance said that an elderly person disrespected her job by saying it's "depressing". I quipped back by saying that they should have told the elderly person in question that what's depressing is that they don't have long to live. Yes, it was inappropriate, but it was also inappropriate for that elderly person to be making condescending remarks on one's livelihood, and therefore, in that moment, I felt that dark humour like that was justified, given the context.
Also, the picture of Bernini's The Ecstasy of St. Teresa just showing her face with the words "SO TURNT" is something I find hilarious because it combines classical art with a millennial colloquialism- a definite window into the sort of person I am.
Also, I have bagged 69th comment. Nice.

Deadpan, observational, witty word play, satire, sexual innuendos, props, sketches, etc. I tend to like Scottish humor that is self deprecating. I like Billy Connolly and Gary Meilke. Miss Robin Williams. Improv with Drew Carey's Whose Line Is It Anyway cracks me up. I like John Oliver, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Ryan Reynolds, Bo Burnham. But some unexpected one liners can really crack me up especially coming from friends. The comedy I tend to like less is bathroom humor, slapstick (Mr Bean is cool tho), insult/roast (Didnt find Joan Rivers that funny but Triumph the insult dog can be), shock humor (although Ive used it myself on occassion...rebellious E6sx), misogynist & racist humor, and grey areas on dark humor. Much of it comes down to context and if someone is targeted and if its just such as poetic justice etc. I like more affiliative humor than aggressive humor. But it all comes down to context and relationship.

It's been said that that there's no such thing as a joke without a victim. If that's true, I wonder how that would square with the need for the harmony of fe with most INFJs: are INFJs uncomfortable with certain strands of transgressive humour? I tend to agree with the sentiment that it's fine to punch up with comedy - but not punch down. Most of my favourite comedians did this to some extent (Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Bill Hicks and Doug Stanhope.) I just know that I don't like people being ridiculed.
On the subject of transgression, George Carlin once famously said that he liked to find out where the line was before stepping right across it. Both he and Lenny Bruce were taken to court over such transgressions. I was brought up in a family that is Irish Catholic, so being exposed to such comedy following a reasonably conservative upbringing had a transformative impact on my life - and for the better, I must say. I'm still not sure if I'm INFJ or not (I'm having doubts again), but those are my thoughts. Maybe someone can tell me what those names say about me - I no longer know!

I wonder if many INFJs find memes, puns and viral videos hilarious.
I also wonder if INFJs have a tendency to rehash and keep laughing at something for while.
I myself am easily amused and laugh at most jokes. The turn off for me is someone getting hurt emotionally or physically. I absolutely cannot tolerate that over a certain threshold that is, at least in my opinion, a reasonable one.

Hi Ren, the INFJ's in my life like to play with words, using words with a double meaning or a deeper interpretation or they come up with new funny words to describe a situation. For example, someone spills tea at their shirt and it becomes a tea-shirt.
Because of their Fe, the INFJ's are usually kind. But sometimes, their Ti steps forward to make a cruel joke and the Ti bluntness is such a sharp contract with their normal Fe friendliness that listeners can be completely taken by surprise. You can see them thinking: where did that come from? That's the most funny part to me. :)

I think I'd describe my inner dynamic, which comes out with this kind of 'transgressive' humour (I like that phrase) is, my humour is the tool I use to manifest the opposite of everything I naturally gravitate towards: harmony, abstract intelligence, care for the inner self. It's a sort of harmless (or meant to be harmless) rebellion against those things, because my Ti is in such tension with the INF bits of my self, and sometimes I just need to let loose and be completely profane and ridiculous. I would not be at all surprised if a lot of other INFJs found that the most relaxing activity available is scrolling through the 'funny' tag on a site like Imgur, and revelling in the most toxic, offensive, and juvenile humour available.

I am a Clinical Psychologist with 30 years of experience dealing with people. I was branded a INFJ quite sometime ago. I never really accepted that evaluation because placing 'labels' on people puts them into a box. It limits their potentiality and personal growth. At worse, it can destroy a individual's self determination and freedom. I have never encountered a 'classical' INFJ before. Why? Because certain characteristics of this personality type have many subgroups some of which overlap other MBTI personality types. That being said I will describe the characteristics of how a 'orthodox' INFJ thinks, behaves and responds in strict accordance with the MBTI Personalty Test. Be forewarned, I find some INFJ 'stereotypes' rather funny. And will approach such in a humorous fashion. INFJ's posess a wonderfully unique sense irony and will immediately recognize the silly 'stereotypes' others have attrubuted to them.....So lts break some myths about INFJ Personalty Types.
When a INFJ gives you the dreaded 'Death Stair' they are not sttempting to understand you. They are wondering if you're carrying a gun. Killing INFJ's is a pleasurable experience. Why? Because everyone hates a smart ass.
INFJ's frequently experience 'Sensory Overload' issues. They love Forests, Parks and Woodland areas to recharge their batteries. Why? Because trees don't talk! A squirrel cannot complain it has 'Daddy Issues'. Pine trees do not suffer from 'gender identity' problems. And I have never seen a bunny rabbit strung out Crack Cocaine. Solitude is bliss.
Never say to a INFJ, 'I do not understad', They will run away screaming or jump infront of a bus. No one understands them. INFJ's sometimes don't even understand themselves.
INFJ are almost like Chameleons. They attune themselves to better understand (subconsciously) certain situations.
Why do a INFJ 'Door Slam' people? Because it's called a Coping Mechanism. They dislike being emotionally hurt. There is nothing strange about this. Some people become acholics others pill poppers. INFJ's will just run away and pretend you never existed. It never works.
INFJ's have the psychic ability to absorb people's emotions. No. This is phenomen is called 'Transference'. If you continuously talk about your problems, a INFJ will unconsciously adopt some aspects of your emotional state. However, INFJ's posess strong identities which prevents them from going completely insane.
INFJ's are the most honest, compassionate and sensative people on Earth. Not really. Mother Nature just screwed them up genetically. They're brains are hard wired to respond during crisis situations. A 'diehard' INFJ will instinctively sacrifice their life attempting to save yours. No questions asked. Why? I have no freaking idea. I didn't invent the rules. Ask God. I'm sure She knows.
INFJ's think differently than others. Yes. They think outside the box. They live outside the box. They have never actually seen the box. What does it look like? Does it contain groceries?
INFJ types are occasionally arrogant, cold towards others and aloof. This is actually true. Being omnipotent has its drawbacks. INFJ's have a difficult time sugar-coating the truth. Being overtly honest is their trademark. However, if they sense someone cannot handle the truth, they lie to protect that person's feelings.
INFJ's are stubborn yet will openly admit to errors in judgment and making mistakes.
INFJ's think too deeply. They want to solve everyone's problems. They get frustrated when people ask for advice, then completely ignore their recommendations. They do not understand why everyone keeps making the same mistakes over and over again. Eventually, a INFJ will simply give up. The phrase 'People need to learn the hard way' was invented by a INFJ. So was the 'unfriend' button on Facebook.
INFJ's do not respect authority because they have developed their own Moral, Ethical, Spiritual and Cognative belief systems. Mature (older) INFJ's care very little about how people perceive them and less about the impressions they make upon others. INFJ's enjoy approval and acceptance (like everyone else) but infrequently compromise their princepals to simply fit in.
Do not mistake a INJ's confidence as egocentrism. There is a difference.
INFJ hate themselves. They feel alone within the world and misunderstood. Being a INFJ a curse. Consequently, a small minority INFJ's often experience psychological Depression, Alienation Issues and Avoident Behavior problems. The phrase 'You are your own worst enemy' accurately describes a INFJ's perception of themselves.
The most admirable personality traits of the INFJ are (1) INFJ's care more about other people than themselves which makes them a easy targets for emotional exploitation and abuse. Never play 'Guilt Games' with a INFJ. They already persecute themselves (subconsciously) for being different. They don't have the ability to forgive themselves for past mistakes, A INFJ's unforgiving 'Guilt Complex' is an integral part of their personality. INFJ's have occasionally been known to slowly kill themselves over time, believing they deserve such suffering. 'Hell on Earth' is their punishment and they willing accept it....sometimes. Not always. (2) Once you secure the trust of a INFJ, everything about them suddenly becomes clear. The stereotypes vanish. They are people you want within your life. They have incredible insight into human nature and will identify your weaknesses and lift you up from darkness. Seeing the world through a INFJ eyes is the greatest gift they can offer.
It would be impossible to understand a MBTI typology without stating the negative traits of a specific personality group.
The 'Dark Side' of a INFJ is rather frightening. Never test their 'Authenticity' or personal dignity. Do not play games with a INFJ. They have limitations like everyone else. A INFJ can determine your intentions or plans within minutes. Literally. This Hyperobservient behavior is quite unique. Avoid getting into heated arguments with a INFJ unless you are prepared to be intellectually, emotionally or psychologically castrated. They have cognitive resources almost beyond understanding. A vindictive INFJ will never stop until they destroy your life (this has nothing to do with physical murder). Such behavior is almost Psychopathic in nature (hence the concern INFJ's may be catorgized as possessing a Psychological disorder rather than a Personality dysfunction). INFJ's are not prone violent behavior. The good news is they give up easily, This is where the Door Slam or simply walking away from a argument comes from.
If a INFJ loves you, be prepared for lengthy romantic rituals. Box's of candy, flowers, poems, lovely e-cards, teddy bears and such. But be careful. A INFJ understands how to manipulate situations to their advantage. Including the human heart. Once they reveal their true inner nature however, you will begin to understand why only 2% of the world's population are INFJ's. They are just so dam charming.
INFJ's dislike small talk, idle conversations, superficial people and hypocrites. Life is too short talking to such individuals (but they understand its occasionally necessary to be socially accepted)
INFJ's are not spontaneous. They just pretend to be spontaneous. Their minds are always attempting to 'connect the dots' even when there are no dots.
Avoid getting into deep conversations with a INFJ. They are walking encyclopedias. They will jump from topic to topic then back again to support a idea or theory. Male INFJ's are 'scattered brained' in the worst way possible. But there is method to such madness. The are searching for the correct answer to a specific problem. And 95% of the time they will discover it... or have a complete nervous breakdown trying.
Occasionally, you will notice them acting rather mysterious, doing unusual things or just behaving weird. Get used to this behavior. It has absolutely nothing to do with you. The INFJ is just going through a 'stage' or experimenting with something that interests them. Like building a Thermonuclear Bomb or discovering a cure for Herpes.
Never tell a INFJ they possess a 'Old Soul'. They are terrified of being reincarnated again. INFJ's are aware that neither Heaven or Hell wants them. Why? Because God doesn't want the extra competition or deciding who should run the Universe (Him or a INFJ) and Satan can't deal with a INFJ pestering him for all eternity. That would be considered cruel and unusual punishment.
Aliens will never abduct a INFJ. There are some things too bizarre even for Extraterrestrials.
So next time you accidentally encounter a INFJ, break all COVID 'Social Distancing' issues and hug them. INFJ's are a endangered species. Literally. Whatever purpose they were created for has already been accomplished. I like to think they represent the noblest form of humanity. A personality type which everyone aspires to immulate....Intelligent, Wise, Caring, Altruistic and Protective. 'More human than human', as the movie Blade Runner once committed. If anyone knows why INFJ's are slowly disappearing , its more important now (than ever) for this typology to connect with one another. Spread the word. You are NOT alone. You were NEVER alone.
