  • Marc Andreessen is the co-founder of VC firm Andreessen Horowitz. In the early days of the web, Andreessen co-created Mosaic, the first significant graphical internet browser, and cofounded Netscape, which later sold to AOL for $4.2 billion.
    Reid Hoffman co-founded LinkedIn in 2003, and last year he sold the company to Microsoft for more than $26 billion; he now has a seat on the Microsoft board. Along the way, he became one of Silicon Valley’s most influential investors and connectors as a partner at Greylock Partners.

    Reid knew if he took that outside seat he would be even more marginalized in this conversation than he already was. With most of the attention going to pmarca, at least he would be in-frame while Andreessen flexed that big beautiful brain of his. Long live our golden boy, the University of Illinois's own Marc Andreessen ;-)

    More like "an argumentation with Marc and Reid" than an interview

  • @NotUrBiz

    Interviewer seems to think she's quite clever while speaking with men who actually are. Her jokes are obvious and all at their expense, as in; "Look how brave I am to stand up to these titans of industry!"

      Agree! That's exactly the comment I was looking for. And oh guess what? Your comment came first ;)

    • @Henripostant
      @Henripostant Před 5 lety +1

      No, the thing which annoys me the most when she talks is the fact that she laughs at her own "jokes" (the Snapchat thing really made me want to slap her).

    • @Henripostant
      @Henripostant Před 5 lety +1

      But guess what Henri : You coud also (at least try) not give a f.... That would be even better

    • @Henripostant
      @Henripostant Před 5 lety

      Oh and while at it : I wish there could be lessons, tricks, moocs or what have you to teach you how not to listen to annoying people. It would also teach you how not to read ad billboards when you see them. No even better it would make you just blind about those billboards. You wouldn't be able to see them AT ALL. That would be amazing.

    • @Henripostant
      @Henripostant Před 5 lety

      Yeah probably but our economy as a whole is based on advertizing : This is the fuel that makes eveything goes. So how would you do without advertising ?

    Interesting interview, and Andreessen is clearly a smart and interesting guy, but the criteria for authority/integrity in the media is whether they tell the truth about the present, not whether they can predict the future. (Predicting the future is how you make money!)

    Honestly, I disagree with the comments below. She doesn't have an obligation to 'be nice'. Nowadays, people are just too used to fluffy journalism and smiling hosts. In fact, watching it I kept noticing how they didn't let her speak [most times she cut them off, it was because they were trying to give a cherry-pie answer or deviate from the original question being asked]. It's actually quite rare nowadays to see interviewers who can put on a straight face and say, "That was not the question that was asked".

    Andreessen has phenomenal capacity of holding opposing views while operating at normal level - swinging back and forth between Obama is a dictator to he's weak and ineffective and then bringing up Breibart talking points on Obama not closing Guantanamo etc...

    Marc Andreessen's rapid fire speech tends to display defensiveness. Does not inspire a lot of confidence. I respected him as a creator of Netacape, he is now merely a billionaire and Facebook backer. Both Peter and Elon clearly have more confidence.

    • @Drewmurr2G
      @Drewmurr2G Před 6 lety +1

      Alice Hutin When the comments are worded like this: "That woman was disrespectful to those men.", it comes off as sexism. Those comments could be made gender neutral by saying, "The interviewer was disrespectful to the interviewees." I think regardless of gender, The interviewer seemed to be unnecessarily condescending in a way that did not further the interview. Based on the comments, that observation seems to have a strong consensus.

    • @conformist
