ULTRALIGHT FISHING A Deep Clear Lake From My Paddle Board!

- I recently took a family trip to northern Michigan for some vacation time on a beautiful lake. I didn't get a chance to bring my kayak, but I was able to manage the paddle board and a couple of fishing poles. When time allowed, I got out and did some fishing! In today's video and the next two, you will see what I got into.
After playing around with my bass rod, I ultimately decided that the ultralight setup was the way to go, because it drastically increased the quantity of fish I caught. The wild thing is that I ended up finding some really nice smallies on it as well. Honestly, fishing this style off of the SUP was super fun and relaxing - would recommend!

What an adventure! 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
the clarity of that lake is pretty nice
Glad you love the great state of Michigan. It's always been home to me and always will be!!
Me too! I live about 3 miles away from Lake St. Clair.
Wow that water looked amazing. Smallmouth are super fun to catch any day, add ultralight and that'd be a great fight and a blast!
The Rockbass is an Empanada.
I also do SUP fishing and have made some customizations. One of them is a lightweight anchor. As I always fish by casting it is needed otherwise you'll drift like you. I use a 1.5 or 2.5 kg anchor with 2mm braided line on a kite spool. Also a few heavy duty swivels (a bit stronger than the line) to prevent the line sprinning.
Rock Bass are my fav fish to catch. Another great video. Looked like a super fun time out there!!!
Stumbled across your channel while watching fishing shows. Cool video, thanks! WV here
Oh!!, by the way Ethan, I love my new lures and tackle from your shop, yes I landed some with new tackle already.
Looks like you had a great vacation all around. Family time, fishing time and lasagna to boot. Great vid.
Gotta love those northern waters. Looked like an amazing time
🌧️ with all the hardcore rain we got here in Pennsylvania it's hard to even fish right now. So I'm glad that at least somebody is catching fish here. Some nice enjoyable catches here, every single fish that was caught is worth every minute of it.
Good choice of state too live in, I lived in traverse City Michigan, in the late 80’s “ population was very less than today”. yep lots of great fishing grounds 🐟on
Great video I am really wanting to try out mule fishing bait enjoyed the video thank you
Those couple of hours randomly across a vacation tend to be really good to me as well. I always pack a bass rod and either ultralight or light action depending on where I'm headed. Sitting on the board and wrestling some rock bass and smallies is very rewarding. Your rants are hilarious and buddy can I relate. Blessings
The little log perch was awesome!!!
Your kayak popped up on my Facebook marketplace, I saw JOLENE and knew it was you!
Wow never seen a lake with blue water like that. Look's like the ocean.
90% sure I know where you are, and I live overlooking it! Awesome lake. I would guess you’re on the west side, which does seem to have more logs on the depth break.
If you are looking for a good spot to go fishing you should check out Mill Creek in Yale Michigan you can catch anything from northern pike to Bluegill to Bass to rock and in the early April you can catch trout bass
I sight fished a dinky small mouth this afternoon on a 1.2” Mule Minnow on a 1/64 Mule Jig. The first fish I’ve caught on your gear, it was pretty sweet!
love the vid Ethan love all ultralight videos
They recently moved the no wake zone WAY out on one of the lakes I like to fish and that alone has made me really consider picking up a paddleboard.
1:01 I know this is petty, but I'm kinda disappointed we didn't pluck the strap and say "yep, that's not goin anywhere"
Great videos and GO GREEN!
I can't believe how clear that water is. Definitely not Lake St. Clair! 😂
wow ethan dhuy!!! great videoooo
Love the videos! In mid Michigan myself! Currently on medium setup for lakes. Any recommendations for a starter in Ultralight?
Looks like lake Charlevoix but maybe not lol
Woooow
I just received one of your jig bundles and am excited to try it out. I noticed that your hooks are barbed so I was wondering: what are your thoughts about barbed vs barbless? Maybe a topic for a new video? :)
how do you figure out where to cast? seems like you're just dropping your lure in the middle of nowhere lol
