Ultralight Fishing A New Lake (With Debo, Jeff, & Paul)

- I had the opportunity to spend the weekend with @DEBOSFishing and @aaanglers with a simple goal of having fun and catching fish. This is the first fishing video from the long day of fishing we had. We got to the lake early in the morning and didn't have any idea what to expect. With the sun shining high and late-May weather, we assumed we would be finding a lot of spawning fish...
Oddly enough, it seemed like all the fish had already spawned that we could find. I found some Sunfish on beds, but outside of that, the Bass and Crappie all seemed like they were postspawn. The good news is that we figured out the general mood of the fish and were able to make our afternoon more productive (stay tuned).
In this particular video, I spent the bulk of my time throwing a Donkey Tail Jr on a 1/32oz Mule Jig for whatever bites. When I found some nice fat Bluegill on beds, I switched down to the 1/64oz Mule Jig Horse Fly combination and that paid off with a couple of big ones.

I think that the Fish Anything channel needs an aquarium. Pumpkinseeds, Green Sunfish, and some other really nice pretty native fish. Americans seem to be over fishing Sunfish beds these days. I'm concerned for the quality and quantity of fish in the future. Beds with just a few smaller fish left on them after they've been cleaned out. I've seen snapping turtles and smaller fish eating eggs off of beds this year.
People definitely over-fish beds. I like catch and release. Sadly most Michigan anglers like to fill their freezer during the spawn. They need to start making trophy lakes and make it catch and release only for May/June.
Great video collaboration brother. Rocking the pumpkinseed we were discussing. You fulfilled your Dink master mission then got into some better fish. Going out for some pond fishing but already put an epic 8 hour wading trip full of smallies and rock bass. Hard to beat the ultralight angle. Blessings Ethan

Ethan is my favorite but those other jokers are alright too, I guess. 🙄 In all seriousness, you guys should have had some kind of Marvelous Michigan Dink Off to determine once and for all who is the King of the Dinks. I'm just not sure what the criteria should be... Most dinks?... largest dink?... least and smallest dinks? And it should end with someone's kayak getting tipped. Not sure who it should be but that would be epic! Maybe everyone should get tipped? EPIC!!!
Haha maybe we will need to do a true competition next year if we make this happen again. I’m hopeful to someday go to Iowa and fish with Debo in his area.

Hey man I have a St Croix Panfish 6’0 UL and Tfo Trout and panfish II 6’6 UL. I’m about to buy the Dobyns sierra trout and panfish (30% military discount for Dobyns rods) based on your reviews. Also like the fact that rod has more backbone for bigger fish. If you’d like to review the 2 rods I mentioned lmk. I’d like to see your opinion on them in the 120-140 price range.
I wouldn’t mind picking up another St Croix to play around with. Either way, I think you’ll love the Dobyns! It’s been really good to me 🤠🧡

Is the Dobyns still at the top of the pack for ya? Or has another UL surpassed it. Looking to grab my one all be all UL to go w my 2000 Vanford, 6lb spro and 4lb copolymer leader set up for all UL fishing. This or the phoenix? Or JDM?
