Awesome!
Awesome
My favorite line "Oh wait, did I fuck up?" Me too bud, me tooo
There are other CZcamsrs doing this too. I do not want to steal your thunder, but when you get down on yourselves ( and you will) might I suggest watching a little bit of Yaba or Odd Life Crafting. Those two yachts have pretty much rebuilt from the keel up. OLC is out there sailing and Yaba not quite yet. Those two boats can show you it is possible! I love this stuff. I’m just an old man now living my dreams thru young ones like you guys! Thank you for sharing your journey!
Once it's all cleaned and then double cleaned, and all the stuff is out of there, you'll be able to start fixing it. It'll really be something when you done.
Captain Ron!
You should get a dehumidifier going in there
Thanks
Thank you my friend!
Just found you guys and Im really digging your vids.. Peace Rolfie
that sword looks like a 1815 fusiliers sword from the napoleonic war, made in Versaille.
You guys won the lottery with this vessel, looking forward to the future projects and repair videos from you guys in the future. You are living my dream peeps, cheers !
You guys are hilarious! I just found your channel, and now I'm catching up. My wife and I are looking into a Seawolf 40 ketch, we'll letcha know how she goes 🤙🏾🤙🏾
Thanks!
So glad to have happened on to this at the beginning. Always wanted a William Garden designed boat. No other boats have that beauty.
Lovely vesssel! One thing I can recommend when there is mould, is a ozone generator. It is really the way to kill mould and bad smell once and for all. Not that it replaces cleaning, but ozone gets in where you do not reach.... There is small cheap ozone generators for under 100$, that also runs on 12V. Happy Sailing!
I can't decide what's going to be more entertaining! watching the Formosa blossom, or Barry's delivery. Very nice how you incorporate both scenarios into the video. Terrific job already Hailly, on the V-berth.
Thank you!!
The bottom of that boat actually looks really good.
I agree, looks like the Copper coat does the Best.
Simon!! I have watched your other catamaran channel since you were making plans in your apartment before you moved aboard. Glad to see you as part of this adventure.
Good to see you guys using vinegar for cleaning the mould. I send to a supervisor for a company that specialised in mould remediation in North West Australia (a hot humid climate) so mould was a big issue.
The best solution was 80% vinegar to 20% water and using microfibre cloths, the mould sees the water as food and sucks it in along with the vinegar which kills the mould spores from within ( it is actually the alcohol that kills the mould).
Another solution that will kill the mould is 70% mentholated spirits to 30% water, however I would only use this when cleaning is completed. Spray all surfaces with this and leave open to dry and air out.
Never use bleach or exit mould (same thing) as this will only take away the staining from the mould, and actually feed it. It will the come back bigger and stronger. Remember it takes three things for mould to thrive and your boats environment has had all three, dirt, time and moisture.
Anyway good luck with your project.
Regards
Steve Ridge
WOW, this my new most favorite channel. I love it!!
Welcome aboard!
It's either been out recently or that antifouling is awesome!!!
I'm really interested to see the progress on this boat!!!
Ha Ha 51 ft. Formosa!
I looked at one in Toronto (Outer Harbour 10 y ago?) Leaky deck,😂 Yada, Yada!
A Pirate Ship! Thick Fibreglass Hull, Center Cockpit, Apartment Sized Aft Cabin, Ketch, Really Nice Bow Sprint, (65k?).
You strip her down and replace all from bilge to the top O Mast, basically a renovation with a blank canvas for you to create YOUR masterpiece .(keel included)
Thanks for the hearted response, my mother did pass and even just your small kind response was a surprise and uplifting.
Contact me when you get to designing your harness’s. I’m pretty good with anything that requires wires and could help in all the separate raceway design, pulls, and termination.
(A couple weeks, long days of pre planed daily work scopes)
Best wishes !
Bryan from Blackstock
Wish I was in the area. A little far away being in alaska in all.
I'll give you a grand cash for it right now, Congratulations! You really got lucky,it's a gorgeous boat
That could go a long way! We’ve got some big expenses right now that we’re working day jobs to save for.
I’m glad you feel so invested in this already!
@@SailorBarry I know I am. I feel like sending you money for sandpaper so I dont have to sand!!

Barry you were certainly right about one thing! those sites on top of those peaks were beyond gorgeous to say the least. Absolutely stunning views. Well Barry, fair winds and following sea's and have a safe journey back home.
I love watching your videos, I cant wait to see your journey. If you all are ever in the PNW and need another Earl to help out in whatever way let me know.
Wow! Not just ONE boat story, but a little bit of THREE boats! Hailly, if I were 30 yrs younger, I would absolutely help you get her cleaned up, sanded down, and freshened up. Sorry the work is gonna be so much work but I know you will do it right. So much work! And so much time it will take, and I can't wait to see the "before" and the "after."
I’m so glad I found this channel. You guys are hilarious 😂
IKR!!!??
Haha!! Thank you!!
Something tells the internet it wasn't the first time she yanked your harness. Nice boat. Glad to see her getting fixed up.
New sub loving the content thankyou and blessings to you.
New subscriber for you, Formosa 51 is my fave too .
I’m loving the update. That’s such a sweet boat. I’m sure you’ve got your work cut out for you but it’ll be so worth it. I restored a 55 skoolie ( land yacht ). I’d love to come help sand or varnish in the summer…… way cool
Great she has furlers. When you guys left the dock I thought.. They're not polishing the tanks?! Love the videos guys. You'll have tons of material. God bless!
The boat is looking better already! Good job! Good luck and be safe out on yur new journey!! ⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵
There is no such thing as a free boat. BTW, thanks for updating this project quickly. I'm really wanting to see this Formosa project. And yes, I did watch Capt ron6 after watching the first vid.
Super Cool 😎
Dude that boat is like made for tall people!
Be a fabulous boat when it’s sorted.
Hi guys your doing a great job , your enthusiasm is infectious, please send me some for my boat projects , 🤓🤓👌🏻
Ophir, CO how they sail over the Rockies?
before I get to ummm excited, YOU ALL GUNNA DO MORE REGULAR VIDS now right??? ummmm just wondering lol i HOPE SO!
First the V-berth is pretty cool and nice job on the cleanup. Second even a mess that galley is STILL GORGEOUS but the bit of cleanup really is starting to make her shine ! That said your choices in cleaning supplies are quite good in normal areas but do be prepared to use bleach in others. Not a lot just a splash with soap and water like chefs use against salmonella, e-coli, listeria, etc. Lastly in areas with black mold and such first consider if the part is worth saving or should just be be replaced. Other option in this case is high quality respirators and Microban that kills mold, mildew, fungus in general as well as bacteria and viruses.
To end I am SOOOO jealous right now as your small ship is in wayyy better shape than my free small ship back in 1983 (refitted again partially in 2005 with modernized components). She is 87.5 feet (27 meters) with a 28 foot beam twin mast that was built in 1920. We had to take her down to her steel hull as the deck let water poor through and ruined much of the interior. The bowsprit, wooden bow carving under the bowsprit, masts, engine control, compass, wheel, rudder and a few other things we restored. The only prior experience I had with sail was just playing and my boat building experience was limited to freshwater hydroplane race boats as a 16 and 17 year old. Plus race cars, or working on Tomcats while employed by Grumman Aerospace and Northrop F-5 Tiger IIs.
Great job so far and I'm happy for all of you.
The best thing you can do is empty out the boat for EVERYTHING, it will make your job so much easier and you will end up throwing out 95% anyways...
This is absolutely our plan, strip it back and do it right.
We’ve already thrown out 4-5 dumpsters full of stuff
Captain Ron + Jack Sparrow = Sailor Barry
I love this! Haha 🎉
This Perihelios looks so nice. Cant wait so see her finished, probably she'll never be finished 😬but thats ok.
Boats are never finished.
@@SailorBarry 🤣👍
Who has a reversing horn that sounds like that? 🤣 Canada is strange, man.
Standing headroom in the v berth? That's a small ship!
Party horn!!
Hello Barry.... I don't say that very often ????
Right? We’re a rare breed.
Wow guys what a great "free" boat and the adventure delivery looks like its going to be amazing too! Cant wait for the next episode!!!! I would love to come help with your boat but as long as Hitler Jr is in charge of your government there is no way I am going to canada.
Hudson 50 or formosa
Formosa
How often and when will your videos drop? I am hooked and look forward to the next one !
Trying for weekly!
I just found your Channel right now but I promise you I am a subscriber at this point that boat is absolutely beautiful and I have to ask what is she who built her where does she come from
👍!!!
Is the sailboat a Vagabonde?
food truck
honking
Is called the stern !
I'm confused... what boat are we on now? what channel is this?
Hi it’s ok you just need to watch from the beginning of the episode and it all makes Sense 😄😄
Too many boats to keep track of haha.
You have great content but you have to do something about the volume. We can’t hear half of what you’re saying. Good luck guys 🇺🇸🙏
I’m just getting warmed up. We’ve learned a lot since October. Got new mics and trying to balance the audio better. Thanks for your patience
Good to have friends when you own a wooden boat, friends especially who know and work boats- Water Rats Rule!
Fun video. I’m confused, probably because I haven’t seen all of your vids, but what is Perihelion about? Is this a boat you have acquired to fix up and sell as a group? Taking five years to do some things sounds quite slack, but then I’ve been living on my boat for 5 years, and I thought that I would have so much done, but haven’t. But then when I think back at what I have done it is a lot. You forget the things you do that make life easier aboard as you take them for granted. Two things I am doing at the moment are fitting a full feature fuel filter/polisher which I have designed as a product, and I am fitting a KPM Marine industrial grade 200l/m bilge pump. I just watched an account of why I am prepared to spend real money on this feature. czcams.com/video/dik-FGlTJ8o/video.htmlsi=eAf1VJWUF4oifKt6 . Very scary.
How about Episode numbers in the descriptive heading Title?
You got it. Will do!
This is Curtis Hyde of the sailing vessel Liberty freedom I have one question what is she she is beautiful
I love your videos, but please do not put background music on while you talk... it's totally unnecessary and makes it harder to follow. Cheers!
Did it to mask copy written music in the background. Have gotten better about that since October hah
@@SailorBarry Okey, no problem! Keep up the Good Work!
Quite the swearing SHOW Some respect children my be watching
They should be living in a trailer instead of a boat.
