    This video is so under rated. All other DUI methods on CZcams did not work except for this one.

    Ill do this an if i cant get enough leverage ill just pull out the angle grinder an destroy the bolts im replacing a rear cat on a 07 g6 3.5 its so tight an I already stripped the bolts

    yeah the irwins are shorter, but you can place a bigger socket on it hence the hex at the bottom. 1/2 3/8 drives dont matter, wrenches could be used. tall studs not an issue.

    Could you have used small torch on that bolt in that area? Do you think it would be safe..like a little lighter torch?

    I saw a video of someone using an air chisel to break the bolt. I assume you would need the room to get to it at the right angle.

    Hey thanks for this info. What about worrying about breaking the stud, do you ever have to use heat? I have a 454 vette and that is my concern.

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  Před 8 měsíci

      If the stud breaks, you can saturate it with penetrating oil and bang it out through the top

    Boss man hello. I am also trying to remove a nut from a bolt on a catalytic converter flange. However, the nut on the bolt just turns and turns when i reverse turn. Its not stripped just wont back out.

      Is the stud turning on the other side of the flange?

  • @brianfong3954
    @brianfong3954 Před 6 měsíci +1

    Many time, if it is stuck that hard. The stud will break. How do you avoid that ?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  Před 6 měsíci

      If it is seized that bad it’s very hard to avoid. Try using penetrating oil first to try to help loosen it

    I got the same problem.
    But my boltz are rounded out
    Any ideas

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  Před 7 měsíci

      The hex heads of the bolts are rounded? If so, just use these extractor sockets on the bolt side

    so my bolts broke how do i get them out, i'm lost with the bolts are stock and i don't want to take the manifold off

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  Před 4 měsíci

      You can drill out the center of the broken bolt and use an extractor bit to unscrew it

  • @e.r.videography6209
    @e.r.videography6209 Před rokem +1

    Can the extractor cover the flange instead if the nut is severely stripped?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  Před rokem +1

      If it’s severely stripped use a smaller extracting socket. That should work

      @@PhillipsVision just wanted to follow up that it worked pretty well. I got the diehard deep socket bolt extractor and slowly used an 18 mm along with 1/2inch bar to pry it off.
      Thanks so much for the video.

      Try using the next size down extracting socket, and bang it on tight with a sledge hammer
