  • Before Victor Wembanyama, 25 years ago Frederic Weis was a first-round draft pick out of France, whose career, to many, was defined by a single moment on the world’s biggest stage. Weis reflects on a journey defined by much more than that moment.

People would remember him to be the one who was dunked on by Carter but the most significant part about him is HE IS A GOOD FATHER… A GOOD MAN and HE TRULY LOVES HIS SON and family. That’s what matters.

Yeah but we don’t know that nor do we care about that. It’s irrelevant to his basketball career and irrelevant to the audience. Imagine doing that for every athlete that ever existed… You can’t. He is the guy who got dunked over by Vince Carter and there is nothing wrong with it. As a Knicks fan. I remember that draft night like it was yesterday. The NBA was still the league of centers so I understood why the Knicks made that pick! Plus the Knicks were moving on from Patrick Ewing so they needed a center!

I just remember him being in NBA Live on the Knicks and all I knew was he was a 7’2” 1st round pick and as a Sixers fan I would sometimes trade for guys like him to build young teams around Iverson. I actually never even realized he never played in the NBA til years later and it felt like a Manella Effect because I would swear I remember him at the end the bench. Weird.
Which is why I also felt like at the moment and probably still now the Carter dunk is the greatest in game dunk ever, I remember some of my friends downplaying it like he’s a euro scrub and me arguing no he’s a 7’2 former 1st round pick haha.
At the same time I dunno how they passed on Ron Artest tho.

A very good analyst with NBA Extra team , we.love him. And he's been dunked on because Vince had to, he made him jumped higher, its the privilège of good defenders, you are not afraid to be dunked on....its the game 😊
