If Marvel had balls, they should have put this song as Thor's Theme
Sven Potelle: Fuckin' Rights!!
Sven Potelle, you know the song is about Thor's death right? His battle with Jörmundgandr during Ragnarok.. so.. not the best theme song imo :P
If Thor Rag would have been a serious movie, yes, but since it wasn’t AA would have been a waste. Plus mainstream just will NOT use anything with growler vocals, even if it’s incredible like AA. It’s silly
If
Most true comment i've ever seen.
Whenever this song comes on, you don't need doors - you just walk through walls
Like the fucking koolaid man 😂
Love your mantle pfp, love agalloch
This comment section made me cry with laughter 🤣🤣
Hell Yeah!!
"gives me so much energy" Imagine what it's like hearing that song live! That's why metal shows are INSANE
I heard it live. It was awesome
Damn now i wanna hear it live
This song was the most intense mosh pit over ever been in. If you can go see Amon Amarth do it!
@TheMetalWeasel well now thats a new thing i added onto my bucket list
As someone who has heard it live, I can tell you it is wild.
quick note, the bands name "Amon Amarth" is the Sindarin name for Mount Doom (Lord of the rings for the uneducated)
Facts!!
Awesome!
yeah . we fans knew it.
They literally have Viking battles on stage at their shows. Enough said.
Ryan Kieth, they're not a viking metal band tho. Death metal with Norse inspired lyrics.. big difference actually ;)
Never thought of them as death metal, far too melodic. Death metal makes me think of bands like Cannibal Corpse and Napalm Death who I can't stand, I can actually listen to Amon Amarth even though I don't like the vocal style.
onelove101unity yeah, hence the term "melodic death metal"
What actually makes it still death metal at all though? It's nowhere near as heavy as those death, you can actually make out with the vocalist is saying, the drums aren't as intense, it loses the very essence of death metal?
All I said is that they have Vikings battling on stage. I don't know how this debate got started.
This is the band that got me into growled vocals. I was like "Wait, I know what he's saying!" It's an acquired taste, and Amon Amarth made me acquire it!
and then you can suddenly hear and understand the lyrics of cannibal corpse and others, took the same path bro :D
In old Norse mythology, Jörmundgandr (or the Midgard Serpent) is a monstrous snake, that encircles the Earth (Midgard) and biting its own tail. When it releases its tail, Ragnarök will begin. The last meeting between the serpent and Thor is predicted to occur at Ragnarök, when Jörmungandr will come out of the sea and poison the ocean and the sky. Thor will kill Jörmungandr and then walk nine paces before falling dead, having been poisoned by the serpent's venom.
Jörmundgandr is also one of the son of loki, with the wolf fenrir and hel.
Zionism is a snake that takes the lands of the world one by one and ends back in Jerusalem where it swallows it's own tail
You forgot Surtur rising to burn Midgard from the South.
@@chessbooker_ plenty of books about the Norse Mythology
@@thanosdarkseid8695 calm it dude, no one likes exremists.
This is the exact sound track you play as you slay dragons in Skyrim lol
Or facing dragons in Dark Souls
Jealous Gods you do know what we do to trolls in skyrim, don't you?
LOL I was thinking sea of blood for the civil war in skyrim
Try this with Dragons Dogma
You know a song is epic when the guy can't even pause it.
cry of the black birds
Amon Amarth is easily one of the most epic bands there is! My request is Amon Amarth - Deceiver Of The Gods
Mr.Beardman Deceiver of the gods is the song that's playing at my funeral when they take my casket and slowly put it into the ground
Better go with Brothers of Metal or Blood of my Enemies (Sons of Odin or Return of the Warlord are also worthy of mention, but in reality , Manowar has so damn many super dope tracks thats its pretty much impossible to pick just one ,, But like in Blood of my Enemies chorus, i want this on my tombstone Strong winds, magic mist
"To Asgard the Valkyries fly
High overhead, they carry the dead
Where the blood of my enemy lies "
SortenRavn hail and kill will be played in my funeral home along with die for metal.
Silent scream slayer
Cemetery gates pantera
I'm broken
And many more head banging uplifting bands
Guardians of Asgaard \m/
A similar band to Amon Amarth but power metal not death is Brothers of Metal
All of their songs are stories. You can listen to any of them for viking stories. Listen to 'Fate of Norns' and get hit by the feels. Listen to 'the Hero' and understand the mercenary with a turn of heart. Listen to 'Under the Northern Star' and sail with a viking at night.
Seriously man. Where most metal is filled up with religiousness, rebelliousness, anger, or something edgy or whatever...Amon Amarth and a few other bands are just telling badass stories with the intensity they deserve.
They're all good.
Fate of the norns really is right in the feels. Never cried to a song till I heard that one. Got a tear in my eye just from thinking about that song, god dammit.
I love amon amarth and similar bands too but that isn't most metal at all. What you just described is the secluded sub-genre, "punk"
Runes to my memory hits the most, imo.
creamnwheat well fucking said 🤘🏼
@@DrMr. yes, i too get teary listening to fate of norns.
Fun fact. They got Alexhi, the lead singer and guitarist from children of bodom, to play the guitar solo for this song. It took them a good while to nail it live.
Drinking game: take a shot everytime Alex says ''dope''
RavenBurstYT Official but then people could only afford to watch 1 video per paycheck...
Smoke a dope blunt every time he says dope. It would make more sense.
(Rules unclear, died of alcohol poisoning...)
RavenBurstYT Official y’all would be lit as hell
Seems we're going to have a race, sir.
War of the Gods is awesome as well! You'll grow an bearded beard listening to more Amon Amarth haha :D
PlexyPanda i love that song its so underrated
War Of The Gods is so similar to TOTTG, they both have the same sort of build at the intro and leap into the main riff with ballsy glee. But War Of The Gods gets my vote too. Fucking intense and awesome 🤘
War of the Gods is fun to play. Twilight of the Thunder God is hard to play lol.
War of the Gods is legit the greatest melodic metal song of all time. Don't even try to argue with me about it.
Tattered Banners and Bloody Flags is my personal favorite.
My introduction to amon amarth was probably the strangest of them all. I was walking through Walmart's music selection when I was a senior in high school (2012). I noticed their album surtur's rising on the shelf. I thought "well this look's pretty cool. If it sucks at least it's only 10 dollars." Best 10 dollars I have ever spent.
I suggest Amon Amarth - Deceiver of the Gods
Thats my favorite one of Amon
Me too.
+ My favourite Amon Cover like Angra - Aqua too 😈😀👿💀
Amon Amarth - Raise Your Horns!!
One of the coolest guitar riffs by them. Keep up the good work Bro!
Doug Ray that's my pit song
Amon Amarth - Raise Your Horns
ELUVEITE- Inis Mona, such a Great song
oh yes!
The live version with fintroll is epic
Yeah dive in to some good old Swiss Metal :D
I found The call of the mountains to be the best to me, but the whole Origins album is great! Inis mona is very uplifting and simple, great joy!
Any song from Slania would do
Pursuit of the Viking
I love that song
Yesss!!!!!
Oen of the best
At dawns first light
Fate of the Norns
well i mean Amon Amarth is basically singing about their culture/history which is the Norse mythology......hands down the COOLEST MYTHOLOGY
Cordero .... I prefer my culture with eluiveitie ( galloic celtic metal)
Strapping Young Lad Love. Just do it!!
BlackTower Terrain full version not music video.
@Josh Grooves Yes for sure full length version!
BlackTower Terrain ok nike
Sabaton cover this song with Power Metal Style , you should check it
And someone took both of them and mashed them together
@@danperry9293 that ones so cool!
Rage of Light has also covered it and I think Melissa Bonny did a great job with the lyrics
I love amon amarth... but I kinda almost slightly tiniest bit prefer sabatons version... depends on my mood tbh, I also love sabaton
Yeah me its on the mood, but mashup is hectic also
Lol I can see it now.

Amon Amarth \m/ one of the greatest bands Ever! Probably Descendents of Odin himself . haha should take a listen to ' At Dawn's First Light' pretty sure you'll enjoy that \m/
Wintersun - Sons Of Winter And Stars live @ sonic pump studios (pretty much the metalized GOT soundtrack)
ᛞᛖᚾᚾᛁᛋ ᛏᚱᛟᚹᚨᛏᛟ Yeahhhh!!! Up ❤️
ᛞᛖᚾᚾᛁᛋ ᛏᚱᛟᚹᚨᛏᛟ yes yes yes
No argument there. Alex might not be ready for it though. He's hop-hipper. He'll need time to adjust...
YESSSSS!!! :-)
This. VERY MUCH THIS! If Amon Amarth gave him a Thorgasm, Wintersun will drain him empty. ;)
Amom Amarth - Persuit of Vikings!!!
Twilight of the Thunder God is my absolut Favorit Song of All Time😍😍Thank You to React the Song❤❤❤
goosebumps the whole time! when u see a band live and they're amazing it makes the recorded music even more enjoyable. u get the energy of the band and remembering the intensity of the crowd....just epic. nothing like it
I saw these guys live for the first time in 2019 and i`m still deaf, still have singed hair and am still in complete awe at just how good they were live!
Amon Amarth is amazing. I met them a few years ago at Mayhem Fest and they signed a photo for me. They were nothing like they seem to be in their videos or pictures. They were the nicest guys and super happy to be there. I've been a fan ever since.
See them on stage with an audience that goes crazy over their musik and you see them smile from ear to ear ... they just enjoy the heck out of that.
Ensiferum - Victory Song
Lai lai hei, into battle :v
Dragonheads man. You know you like it haha
Týr - Blood of Heroes
Gotta love Týr

Amon Amarth: Raise your Horns

I would say Thousand Years of Oppression, but the lyrics might be lost of those who don't know much of Norse myth and history or have interest in it...
Insomnium - While we sleep
THIS
Just commented the same thing! TOTALLY. This became my favorite metal song and I am liking very similar artists that you enjoy. Like Killswitch Engage, Amon Amarth etc. I'd really like to listen to While We Sleep for the first time again. Please give it a try and let us witness you getting blown away.
Other people who listen to Insomnium. My life is complete
This is the song that literally started my metal crusade back in 2008 I will never forget how I got chills listening to it. Awesome man!
Bounce back into this video just to see your reaction on the solo. Lmao love it

Totally agree. My fav as well.
MyFaceIsMahShield *cough* First Kill *cough*
Dimitris Michalopoulos
First kill is not that good instrumentally... It has a cool music video but it doesn't make the song sound any better...
You wrote Live to Kill wrong
Edit: sorry it's calles Live for the Kill..
Varyags of miklagaard
Scandinavian melodic death metal is the greatest sub-genre of metal. Such a powerful, full sound.
that´s what it is, bro......pure viking metal from sweden \m/ it´s nice to see your face at the beginning of the song :D
it slowly began to shake, there comes a grin on your face and as the drums gave it´s best a little kind of headbanging started automatically
THAT´S AMAZING!!!!! It seems there is a little metalhead inside of you too :D Nice job!!! ----Greetings from the metal side of life
Hey man , first off I want to say as a metal head , thank you for taking time out of your day to do these reviews. Your reactions are basically the same when I hear these songs for the first time as well. Thank you for truly enjoying metal with an open mind and I'm really stoked for you when you keep finding gems through the band's you listen to . Keep up the great reviews and you got me to sub
In Flames - Pinball Map
This song is easily one of the greatest songs in Metal history. FUCKING POWERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's something you could react to!
Bathory; their album "Blood Fire Death" is the first official viking metal album. Being released in 1988, it had influences of old school metal and folk music and is generally a little slower than "normal" metal. Some songs you should check out is the title track "Blood Fire Death" or "A Fine Day To Die"
Bernler75 fuck yes great album
That a boy. I absolutely knew you'd dig it. It's seriously surging with energy, and I promise, while a great deal of their songs are equally as energizing, while telling the myths, lore and fables of a culture not given much exposure through the mainstream. So, all that being said, while keeping the lyrics in mind for each other song you listen to by them, you should definitely, DEFINITELY, check out Guardians of Asgaard, God's of War Arise, Loki's Treachery (Hermod's Ride to Hel), Where Silent Gods Stand Guard, The Hero, but most of all (which is a hard thing for me to say), Tattered Banners Bloody Flags. Have fun man, I know we will!
I'm going to throw Versus the World and With Odin on Our Side into that list. But big thumbs up for Loki's Treachery and Tattered Banners.
Death In Fire - Amon Amarth
Yes! Also The Hero
Yesss!!!!
Alex you are almost a metalhead too, you are hearing masterpieces! good job
I think Amon Amarth is one of the most glorious Melodic Death metal bands ever existed. Sounds brutal, aggressive but also powerful and satisfying the same time.
Have heard the first time 1 year ago and it was mind blowing but wanted to get more of it.
Please react to Mystic Prophecy. One of my favorite Thrash metal bands of mine. Here some tracks the produced:
To hell and back, Children of the damned, Warriors of the northern seas, Armies of hell, Metal brigade, 300 in blood (based on a story)
:)
i return to this video just to watch that brain freeze due to overwhelming awesomeness and him suddenly realizing mid-solo that he forgot how to react on his own reaction video. You gotta see the Destroyer of The Universe
Scandinavians the heavyweights of metal 🤘 🇳🇴
Only in some genres. Swedes are rocking the viking themed metal tho for sure.. while we (Norwegians) rock the black metal scene. But the heavyweights of metal? Nah, there too much awesome metal out there man..
Deviant Replicant ummm no. There's a reason ALL metal is in English
Hippie Grinder669, I'm sorry.. but did you say ALL metal is in English? If that's what you really said... I'll just say this: you sir, are not very enlightened.
Hippie Grinder 669 But Darkthrone and Mayhem are still from Norway. Singing in English obviously enables a wider audience to enjoy your music so it's not really that strange that most bands sing in English, not really relevant though.
Compare our freaking populations and then how many metal bands there are in respective countries. Fact is there's waaaaaaaaaaay more metal bands per capita in the Scandinavian countries than anywhere else in the world. (www.gislounge.com/map-of-heavy-metal-bands-by-country-per-capita/)
Also I think you should probably go see a therapist or smoke some weed as you seem to be extremely angry simply from reading someone's youtube comment.
baverfjant I only write shit on comment sections when I'm fucking wasted and upon re-reading alot of this to make sense of your replies I realize I came at you pretty hard there over nothing but semantics really. So **Internet 1st** exclusive - I apologize. I was being a dick. I'm sure I was all fired up from yelling at Liberals about guns and that was some displacement there
So I just discovered your channel, and want to give you HUGE ups, im a musician and love every form of music. Its really cool to see people get stoked on new music. Fun fact; I have seen Amon Amarth at least 8 times. The day this album dropped, (October 2009, cant remeber the date) I saw them play at Slims in San Fransisco. I was front row, BELTING out this song, the singer, legendary Johann Hegg reached out to me. I thought he was going for the Viking handshake (one finger up the arm so you know if they had a dagger), and PULLED ME ONSTAGE. He held the mic between us as wee belted out"TWILIGHT OF THE THUNDERGOD" Coolest thing ever.
I NEVER CLICKED ON SOMETHING SO FAST IN MY LIFE! AND this is the first Amon Amarth song I heard and it's the first one YOU heard Alex! I feel great about this!
Amon Amarth - Guardians of Asgaard :)
ZyXxOmAn hell yeah
New Vid
I'm in 💪
Btw funny Story about me finding out Amon exists :
My old Latin Teacher alowed us in one lesson to play music while working ... everyone wanted to take some , pardon, Chart-Shit no one knows anymore today . My Teacher almost wanted to instant end the "music allowed Lesson" until i suggested Rammstein
He was surprised that I suggested it and asked me after the lesson how it came so
Well i just love them , they are one of my alltime loves (New Album End 2018/Beginning 2019 !!!!)
Then he said :
Oh cool , my alltime Fav is Amon Amarth
Me : Who are they ?
Teacher : Oh shit , u don't know them .... well i'm your teacher , so i'll teach u now : forget todays homework, Listen to this
Twighlight of the Thundergod
I will always Thank my wiking like looking Latin teacher for getting me into Amon Amarth
Atilla Durkaya Actually a cool story bro!
Atilla Durkaya I found out my history teacher was a Amon Amarth fan pretty recently. He sang some lyrics from Raise Your Horns from the Jomsviking album while he was working, and then I sang the next ones. He replied with something along the lines of “I’m so glad that you listen to that album”
Metal fan teachers? How could you possibly go wrong? You can't, in my book.
I came by Amon Amarath on accident, was at the store buying cds and I saw one of their albums and the cover art just looked so bad ass I had to have it because of that alone and then when I listened to it I was immediately a fan.
Amon Amarth is one of my favorite bands, check out As Loki Falls and Varyags of Miklagaard. Oh, and check out Prophecy of Ragnarok by Brothers of Metal.
So,you've never heard any songs about battles or wars?Man....you should try any song by Sabaton.

Dude, I've loved Amon Amarth since I was a kid! (22 now, so still sort of a kid) That chorus gives me goosebumps when it comes through.

Nightwish - Ghost Love Score! :D
Yes !
I'd pay to see how he reacts to this one.
If NIghtwish either Planet Hell or Dark Chest of Wonders
Gotta be the Floor live version.
Come on if you go for Nightwish take the version with the Singer the song was written for and all the mentioned above so far are Tarjas songs.
It's funny how no one ever says "Christian mythology" but they say "_____ Mythology" everything else
Because Christians aren't a nationality
There's a few resons for that. The main ones being that there is no "holy text" for Norse Pagans. Everything we know about the Æsir are stories/poems that had been passed down for hundreds, even thousands of years, so they are technically myths. Another reason is that there's really no title given to people following the old gods. We're called heathens and pagans because that's what Christians called our ancestors before they forced Christianity in northern Europe. So calling it Norse Mythology, etc. is the one of the best titles we can give it so people who don't know anything about our religion (most commonly referred to as Ásatrú by its followers) so people can understand.
@@terrentorgeson4515 *cough* The Eddas *cough*
@@psychee1 In a way, yes, but Snorri Sturluson was also a Christian, so some accuracy of the Eddas can be somewhat questionable.
@@terrentorgeson4515 Yeah, just thought it was worth a mention. Overall I agree with you though.
I saw amon amarth live years ago and they played this exact song. The energy that filled the room as soon as this song started was insane.
Furthermore, you should listen to the sabaton cover of this song. Also incredible but completely different.
my favorite Viking/death metal band
Death metal, amon amarth are not viking metal in any form except for the theme.
Melodic Death Metal, not Death Metal.
@@moldveien1515 the theme accounts for 40% of the band's identity.
@@KyleDaSloth Yes, but viking metal is a musical style related to black metal. Amon Amarth does not play this genre, just beacuse you sing about viking themes doesn't make you a viking metal band, check out bathories later albums, or Windir if you want to listen to the genre viking metal. Viking themed metal, and viking metal are two seperate things.
@@moldveien1515 I'm not disagreeing with you. Johan said in interviews that they're not technically Viking metal.
It's nice to see people go out of their way to listen to music they normally wouldn't. Too many people get stuck on one genre & take a s#$t on anything that isn't their style. Great job!
These guys live is unreal. They have guys come on stage and fight, and Loki comes out, its just great. Also its great to see a group of fans that dont know each other form up before the show starts and sit on the ground and act like they are rowing in a viking ship. Its epic live bro.
Runes to my memory!!!...best headbanging ever jajaja
Meshuggah- Bleed or Trivium- In Waves (live)
Someone Fun Definitely Bleed but not the music video

Kingdom EMG TV, but also anything else from Hevy Devy
You gotta do this Alex :)
Why do I get happy tears when I see this dude get introduced (and get) one of my favorite metal bands!!!
Thanks for the vid brother.
(FYI, these guys rule for workout music)
Hi Alex hope you're having a dope ass day ! ;) seriously dude gotta see more of them. I mean, they are masters in the're own thing. The stories that they are telling in each song are fking dope, read the lyrics if you can't hear properly what he is saying. And songs structures are really sick too. Best album I could suggest you from those guys is :With Oden On Our Side

What's up man. I respect the open mindedness man. I've been a metal head my entire life. Thanks for giving viking metal a shot. I think you should listen to Once Human- eye of chaos. They're insane!
I almost pissed myself laughing so hard when he said Thorgasm!
Seeing them live is a whole different concert experience. Beyond amazing
Johan Hegg, the singer at one of the shows was standing a few feet away from me as he didn't even have to sing the fucking chorus cause the crowd was so fucking loud. He seemed so fucking happy, I'll never forget it. :D
Korpiklaani - Rauta....youll definetely like folk metal :D
Septicflesh - Anubis
Greek death metal band that often refers to the Greek mythology etc. It's not as popular as Amon Amarth but they are great.
Give it a try!
I love ur reaction videos bro, because u are real! 🤘
I met Amon Amarth and got a pic on their stage in Houston last year. I see them again when they open for Ghost here in September.
Sabaton - Uprising
Amon amarath is viking THEMED metal, viking metal is a genere, Amon Amorth plays melodic death metal. If you want viking metal try some of bathory's laters stuff as it created the genre or Windir maybe.
halvor ketil Windir is fucking legit af, the vocals may turn the guy away though.
True, I love my country so much good metal music to check out from Norway
Swedish melodeath 🤟🤟🤟
Tyr, old Thyrfing.. and others I can't remember right away. Quite a few that's more underground.. but Windir isn't viking metal.. not even close :P
gonna have to disagree there viking metal is not a genere singing about viking stuff does not change the genere
You have to see these guys live. Just seeing the Viking ship on stage and them doing windmills in sync is incredible.
I love Amon Amarth! Saw them in concert and met Johan great guy 😎
Finntroll - Trollhammaren ... Metal mixed with scandinavian folk music.
I was about to say nordic, but i suppose finntroll is from the swedish minority in finland so i guess it is scandinavian. It's kind of weird to know exactly :P
@@moldveien1515 Swedish minority in finland? If they´re in Finland they´re finish minority. If you mean the Same people its lots of different tribes streching from the Skandinavian countrys all the way to Russia.
Digging the channel man, you're an open minded dude which is always worthy of a sub. You should react to Involuntary Doppelganger by Archspire. It will blow your mind balls.
The Aussie Metalhead 😂😂😂
Alex Hefner do it bro! 😆
Archspire is on the far end of understandable metal for newer metalheads lol. I love them, but it's an ambitious listen.
This. Henker - Slave of My Art is also a good one.
Kyle Ledermann you are very right there man! But sometimes you've gotta see how deep the pool can get 😜
I know I had seen this reaction years ago. But stumbled upon it again. Both the band and Alex are really great!!
It was so awesome singing along to this at their concert
