    Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama faced off yet again but this time the Spurs got the win. The deciding factor was Wemby in the fourth quarter and most people think he’s got the Rookie of the Year award won barring injury. But there’s another storyline behind this rivalry and it goes back to when the two phenoms were teenagers before the NBA.

      Haha. No. That’s the problem. They’re stuck with only being able to draft. They’ll be tanking for the next three years.

    • @brushylake4606
      @brushylake4606 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@ErroneousMonk1 Incorrect. They have huge draft capital. They've got up to three first round picks this year (theirs, Toronto's - top 6 protected, and Charlotte's - top 14 protected) up to three next year (theirs, Atlanta's unprotected, and Charlotte's - top 10 protected if it doesn't convey) a pick swap with Atlanta in '26, two picks (theirs and Atlanta's - unprotected) in '27, and a boatload of 2nd round picks in the next five years. That's between six and eight first round picks over the next four drafts. Add to that some individual players who have value (Vassell, Sochan, and Johnson) and they absolutely have assets.

      He had 23 points, 19 came from the first half, with just 12 FGA. I saw the full game and Chet dominated them, Wemby kept fumbling from pump fakes and their 1v1 against each other. The other guys from the Spurs stepped up and spaced the floor and that's when disaster hit for OKC and Chet. I get that Chet isn't their primary scorer but I think that if he were a bit selfish like SGA and JDub going for ISO plays, he would have higher stats but their team in OKC is solid and he doesn't have to play that way. Props to Spurs for winning the game and for Wemby for that impressive block. I just don't get why Chet isn't getting much credit for what he's doing. So sad to be an underdog

    Something that I always like to share on content about the internet talking about Chet. In 2022, I went to the Portland location for the first round of the March madness tournament, I stayed at the same hotel as SMC and Gonzaga. Every player I saw in the hallway was really nice. Drew Timme was definitely the highlights. The only player who was being rude and disrespectful was Chet. He has an ego, and it’s not exclusive to his basketball career. The more I hear about players not getting along with him the less surprised I am he acts this way.

    If I were Spurs, I would still rely on draft picks and develop them. Tank another year to get a high pick like Cooper Flagg and go all in afterwards. Rushing things does not end well most of the time, look at Lebron's 1st Cavs tenure and Luka. They want to do SGA-OKC (J-Dub, Chet) or KD-OKC (Westbrook, Harden) route.

      Add Tokyo 2021 and make it three. I think he meant in south compétition but even there I'm pretty sure that France made quite a few trips to the last dance ( last year versus Sapin in U17 for exemple. Plus in the final Chet and Wemby did the fact that France played without a proper PG due to injury in the last 8 minutes and the game that Lofton played were more important in the final score than Wemby's being benched due to foul trouble.

    Based on Trae’s game and size, I see another Dame/Giannis situation. Trae is a defensive liability, long range and shot jacker. Only difference is he’s a better playmaker than Dame, but he’s more of a prima Donna.
    If he goes to the Spurs and has a bumpy road like Dame in Milwaukee, I don’t think think Trae has the maturity and lack of ego, to handle it like Dame. Coach Pop isn’t going to tolerate his shenanigans. Nor can he get him fired.
